inventive and insightful film making

I'm not sure where all the negative vibes are coming from toward Gordon -Levitt's challenging and insightful series. It's not like there are a lot of people making quality challenging drama let alone someone at his level.

He's dealt with a handful of edgy subjects in just 3 episodes and keep us guessing where it's going all along. Ie it's NOT predictable.

I wasn't sure about the musical elements of this episode but rolled with it and ultimately found it worthy. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it, and I actually think that's a good thing. It had me rethinking what I'd just watched and re-framing it.

There's plenty of garbage to watch on the box so to have someone try and take things in a different direction needs to be supported.

Plus his and all the cast members performances are spot on.

I'm in it for the duration. Keep it up.

Mother & Adult Son Dynamic
michaeljcummings15 August 2021
Not too many writers handle the "single mother / adult single son" dynamic, unless it's for broad comedy. Mr. Forman handles it, in all its complexity. This, too me, is the heart of the show. I love watching their relationship and the musical interlude in this episode was a figment of their imaginations...what they both feel for each other yet cannot articulate to each other. The "God" conversation with his niece was also unique. Mr. Corman can't stop being himself and cannot lie to a child. In his mind it's poppycock and the child should be educated. Lovely episode.

First two episodes weren't bad. This episode was too weird for me. I have no idea the purpose of this episode and the plot made no sense. I don't know what I'm watching.

Sometimes we can't verbalize our love the way we want

Warning: Spoilers
This episode took a bold swing with the way they portrayed a mother/adult son relationship that's not on the best of terms. The musical number honestly had me in tears by the end of it, so beautifully done. As someone who has had a difficult but strengthening relationship with his mother , it really hit home the way they portrayed thinking of all the right things to say, if only we could bring ourselves to actually say them. TOO MUCH GOES UNSAID IN THIS WORLD. Tell yourself and your friends and your family how much you care for them/you.

I quit watching half-way through

This episode confirmed what I'd begun to suspect. The main character is a bitter, self-focused man with no insight into his behavior. The show doesn't seem to be going anywhere redeeming.
