Enjoyable and relatable
jbrbsmom4 February 2023
This movie is more darkly comic than stand up comic. Go into it expecting that and you will enjoy it much more.

It is a slightly new take on the theme of dealing with the loss of a loved one. Also, do not see it as a serious sci-fi and try to explain it from a realistic scientific perspective...it almost seems a side plot that one of the characters is an alien...

While there are probably a thousand life time movies that try to do this theme, None will measure up to this.

The acting of both female roles is superb. The grieving friend is such a complex believable realistic character that at times, I wanted to reach in and hug her and at other times I wanted to jump on the couch playing air guitar with her. The alien monotone robotic delivery was fabulous and perfectly funny in all the right places, adding a nice dimension on an old theme.

Bottom line.... I am usually not a fan of this type of movie but found myself enjoyably entertained and thoroughly appreciating the final message of the movie. I definitely recommend.

Excellent little film

Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. And I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought the acting was good. The story and writing were both great. I just love little indie films like this. As you may have read in the description it's about a woman who just lost her business partner and friend from childhood. She goes to a villa out in the country that she had originally rented to celebrate their business. But now she's going to spend the weekend on her own.

When she gets there, the caterer show up and she's told she can't cancel her. And she's already paid for the party. Then a woman arrives who looks exactly like her partner. But, in fact, it's an alien doing research on humans. The two end up getting into a bunch of mischief together. I know it sounds corny, but it's actually very well done.

I especially liked the scene where the dj shows up and they end up trashing the place while celebrating.

If you're looking for something a bit different, give this one a chance.

P. S. In case you're wondering, I'm not a friend of the film crew, actors, or anything. I'm just a film lover.

Not bad little flick

Warning: Spoilers
I liked the idea of this film. You need to be in the correct frame of mind to get into it. For me, I was tired and I was doing a crossword puzzle and not really paying attention. It's not going to win any Oscars but the idea of it was pretty good.

The fact that an alien would come down as a deceased friend for 48 hours to study a human is funny, at least I thought so.

The DJ was good as well as the "long haired guy".

I say give it a try, I have certainly seen much worse films in the past few years, very much worse.

There really isnt a whole lot more you can say about this film, other than 3,2,1, OK,thats it.

Expected much, much more

I will be short in this review.

This is not comedy, and I've expected a better story than this. Not only the acting, but every aspect of the movie is below expectations. The story could be developed better and I find the alien character, portrayed by Natalie Morales. Exceptional out of the movie plot. Her character should be the one that pulls us into the story and Jillian was supposed to round it up and make the connection from sci-fi to comedy, but nothing. As a lover of stand-up comedy, disappointed. There is no need to look into the holes in the plot, as the plot is written bad... Someone was supposed to put more effort to pull us into the movie and story with the character of Jennifer but failed really badly.

I must say I love the cast and that is the reason why can't believe this is so purely made.

Cheers!

It has a weird comfort to it.

Delivered in an unusual way, the reconnection of a grieving woman to her late best friend was at the same time emotional and endearingly amusing. Vanessa and Jennifer seemed like an unusual friendship - one cautious and uptight and one wild and carefree. Touching on real themes like fear, regret, resentment and acceptance, it covers all these with depth and humour. Natalie Morales nailed Jennifer's awkward character - from her sentence construction, monotone alien delivery and the hilarious antics she got up to. I could have watched it for longer just to enjoy her performance. Loved it. Worth a watch.

this is a quote...and i'm not related to the c and c...

''how does it feel to feel to be feeling'', is the word of this day and these kind of emotions that strikes you when dealing with grief and loss and sorrow, mourning over a person that has just deceased, in this case, just before the ultimate weekend party at a mansion out there in the mesa's out sw, to celebrate in a cataclysmic way the 2 year anniversary of joint companyship...

its a strange film that you might find troublesome to relate to, but if youve lost a businesspartner, good friend or loved ones this will be like a magic salute to your own strive, paced very well as a duett, the living and the ghost.

Remember this is made on a small budget, and couldve been a box office hit if backed up by a 50 mill$, but the cast of 5( visual), the broad and wise touch of elegance from the screenplaywrighter and director, will somehow shake your foundations anyhow.

Im a grumpy old man that havent experienced much loss yet,( when my parents passed i had allready come to terms with the loss), but i see the value of a little bit of sci-fi comedy in the drama, well done jillian, nathalie, alisha and brandon, excellent piece of work...

Outstanding!

Ok, I don't know if it should be a pre-requisite or not but having lost my father, sister and mother )and I'm 57 years old) this movie tells you a lot about the grieving process. I remember shortly after my sister died, a dream in which she appeared. I spoke with her and my father i think. Anyway, I kinda cut it all short and I told them in the dream that you couldn't be real because you are dead. I really wish that i could have had 48 hrs with them anyway. It was some-times difficult to watch because a lot of the anger and frustration shown was and is very real. It takes a long time to get over that stuff. I loved this movie. Comedy? Well I guess, sort of. But it didn't really matter to me. I guess movies are like that, we all see different things in them because we are all different a people. We have emotions too. Huh, I guess that IS our downfall. But you know what I'm glad we are who we are because without the roller-coaster of a ride we call life, life itself wouldn't be much fun. I'd never give that up. (I think that may have been a spoiler of sorts). Watch it. Try to look beyond an crappy jokes because they are there for a reason. I loved this movie. Thank you.

Very good film
mariahspgc-120-8650777 February 2023
For those that have experienced loss this film is extremely enjoyable and relatable. Was there a lot happening? Not necessarily but everyone knows they would be psyched to spend 48 with their loved one after passing. It is a fun topic to explore even if it was through an extraterrestrial lens. Jillian was great and made the film an easy watch and takes you on a roller coaster of emotions that can be felt at all times. It was a little bit short and I felt I could've watched the part for at least another 30 minutes because their chemistry was great. I did cry some but eh I always cry some so 10/10 for me!

Beautifully written, beautifully shot & beautifully acted

"What we once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love becomes a part of us."

'I'm Totally Fine' is a fascinating exploration of grief, healing and friendship. The film is also subtly hilarious - I was expecting a serious sci-fi drama, but there were times when I actually found myself laughing out loud!

It was beautifully written, beautifully shot & beautifully acted from start to finish. The chemistry between Jillian Bell and Natalie Morales is palpable on screen. Talk about a dream team - I couldn't keep my eyes off them. I loved this movie and will be recommending it to anyone who will listen!

Good clean low budget gem
toonarly5 June 2023
Nothing questionable, but a very sweet movie of the redemption of the main character from her depression of loosing her best friend during a recently canceled party by a unique alien. Very creative idea and execution, characters are not top of the line actors, but do an awesome job at very believable regular people going through the aftermath of the death of a best friend, if there were aliens studying us, this would be a great way to do it. Charming interactions between the two characters, with lots of cute issues to deal with. Great location and scenery. A few cuss words, no nudity or "other" content, focusing on the story completely. Refreshing fun and cute movie. Great for the whole family. Has a great message for those needing a lift in life.

Enjoyable film
tracyn-1142428 August 2023
I don't normally watch films in this genre, so I turned this movie on for background noise while trying to get some work done. But instead of getting any work done, I was completely enthralled! I was glued to the TV the entire time. It says a lot about the quality and skill of the people who put this movie together. This film is silly in all of the right ways, but it also seemed to handle the topic of grief in a realistic way without coming across as too depressing or heavy-handed. If you've ever lost something or someone, laughter is often the best medicine, and that theme comes through consistently throughout this film.
