Reg believes that he's found Melanie Akande, but a blunder leads to a savage outburst from her parents. A possible lead is set to be questioned.
Credit to Ruth Rendell, this is a good few years old, but it has a definite relevance for the current climate. Even liberal Reg seems to have inner prejudices, the assumption about his character that he would have been well brought up, in a white, well to do area, he doesn't have any outward prejudices, but fails to offer the relevant sensitivity to The Akandes.
It's good, it's a way more intriguing story than I remember, I had forgotten that it deals with several murders.
Kelly Reilly is almost impossible to recognise. I laughed at the chavs that spend their days outside the Job Centre, not sure I can remember such figures in my teens.
Very good, 8/10.
