A FEEL GOOD MOVIE
biggmike_mike31 January 2024
Step Dad reminds me of a film from the nineties. A feel-good movie with tons of comedy and drama. I was captivated by the young actors and actresses in this film. The plot picks up tremendously as the film ramps up. I have watched several films from the director, Arthur Muhammad and I think he delivers again.

Sean Hunt's first screenplay is well crafted and builds as the story unfolds. He reveals moments that allow us to chuckle to handle the seriousness of the film and still layer the serious moments like a seasoned writer. I believe this film is worth the watch and can be watched with the entire family.

Step Dad DOA

Warning: Spoilers
Step Dad is dead on arrival. This film falls victim to all the cliches about cautious love and commitment. The chemistry between the main characters is severely lacking. The wingman moral support or lack thereof is contrived and predictable. Too much emphasis on millinial's mindset make this film almost unwatchable at times. The African-American theme of this film is undermined by poor acting of stereotypical ideas. (SPOILER ALERT) The suitor in this movie hates kids and as it turns out this is exactly what he must face as the object of his desire has them. Watching this story develope was about as cringeworthy as walking in on your parents having sex. The production wasn't bad, especially as it is an independent offering out of Dallas, Texas. But unfortunately, with the poor acting and cliché themes, even Martin Scorsese couldn't salvage this if he tried. Tik Tok has better offerings.
