Tammy is throwing a surprise birthday party for Mr. Brent. Lavinia doesn't wish to be undone and diminished in his eyes and plans to take credit for the party. Mr. Brent's mother (familiar uppity character actress Doris Packer) is also coming to surprise him on his birthday. Meanwhile, Grandpa is teaching Hank table manners. Lavinia hurts Tammy's feelings by putting her down and taking over planning the party to her fancy tastes. Lavinia mistakes Mrs. Brent for the caterer and rudely sends her to the kitchen. Mrs. Brent befriends Tammy and Grandpa while deciding to keep her assumed identity. It will be a surprise party indeed.
