A timeless classic song

Marina Lima's smash hit "Fullgás" is one of the greatest pop/rock achievements in Brazil musical history of the 1980's and of all time, and it certainly put her on the map as one of the most important figures of the era. With a romantic lyrics in a surreal kind of way, constant beat along with one of the coolest bass lines of all time, the song was the hit of a generation and still stand the test of time. The video - though corny in its kind of way as it was the trend of the period - is quite cool to watch.

It kicks off with lenses taking pictures of her giving the impression she's a supermodel and when the song kicks in she starts performing it along with the band, and they're all very enthusiastic about their act. Many close-up shots from the instrumental folks but it's Marina who gets the attention of everybody. The fuzzy dream-like from the images makes as if everything's not but a strange dream while the music keeps its pulsating and repetitive beat. Highly unusual but quite fun to watch. But the main spectacle comes from the music, its sound and lyrics. A pure classic. 7/10.
