Mark Proksch Loves Slime
rebsothoth30 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'd swear, the more I see of Mark Proksch, the more I'm convinced he spends his free time in real life naked in a tub of goop.

In this case, his Colin Robinson body was a slime-filled husk, from which the new Colin Babyson burst forth in all its annoying majesty. There is no better form that an Energy Vampire could take than an infant, a creature designed by nature to cry and scream and poop, being at all times and in all ways utterly emotionally and physically draining.

Is he an alien chestburster? Is he a type of insect, hatching from the old cocoon? Maybe he was attracted to the siren because he was an egg inside an egg, a never-ending nesting doll of Colin Robinsons. I can't wait to find out!

The rest of the show was fine, too.

It has been fun watching Laszlo turn from lothario to caregiver, first keeping Colin's impending death a secret as they bonded, then keeping Colin's rebirth a secret so that Nadja could move on with her own life, his lovebird leaving their nest. If he can keep his rampant lust in check, he'll make a great dad.

It's clear that Guillermo has developed a huge amount of self-worth, and hopefully he will lose a bit of that hubris next season, because it could definitely get out of hand if it goes unchecked. Nandor really does care about him, but some time apart will let them both break the cycle of codependency they've developed. Nandor has been sort of a "grumpy teen" lately, so hopefully seeing the world by himself and getting a broader perspective on life will make him a stronger person.

I really like the idea of Nadja and Guillermo traveling together, because they don't have a vested interest in each other's happiness. This should allow them to grow towards independence without completely giving up their safety net.

All together, this episode felt really... HEALTHY. Sometimes, people need to have fights with their family so they can grow on their own. They still love each other, clearly, but they need some fresh air and new horizons. When they come back for the next season, I'm sure they'll have exciting stories to share. Their fans will all be waiting for them!

Brilliant, surprising, and tender. We are shown new sides of every character. Every turn was unexpected and set the stage for a very interesting season four. One of the best episodes of the series. Season four now, please!

We're all a big family here

Warning: Spoilers
Colin Robinson is dead, Long Live Baby Colin Robinson.

What an episode to end off on. Most of the Vampires have left the house, and with that has left 3 HUGE cliffhangers. Nandor going solo, Nadja and a decieved Guillermo go to England, and Laszlo sticking behind to take care of a Colin Robinson. A BABY Colin at that.

Twists, Revelations and Donal Logue galore, this easily becomes the best episode of the bunch. A common theme in Season 3 especially in it's later episodes is change and this episode it seems has spurred the most change. And that doesn't seem like a bad thing moving forward.

Season 3 may have been uneven, but it's still WWDITS working at it's absolute best. During a pandemic at that. Cheers lads.

Rating: 9.3/10.

What

And why do I feel like I have just watched the first episode of the first series again . It felt so old and familiar but so new . The whole essence of the 1st ep and 1st series rang out in this final episode. You shot out into the further mist outreaches of the newness and vastness of space and took to so many places yet still Managed to land perfectly from wenst you came , not a millimetre out of place . It truly is one of the greatest thought offs and made offs in our generation and I hope every single person Involved is incredibly proud . The fact that this will never age even in a hundred years must feel incredible . Bravo WWDITS you are the tv love of my life . I love you . I cannot wait for your familiar return and the comfort and joy you bring me . P.s you are the only reason I own a tv and paid for a tv liscence . I shall shut down my tv until next time , I bid you adieu . Also have you thought about adding aliens to the mix in the future ?

I absolutely love every episode of this show but this is my first time writing a review. All I really have to say is that in my head I pictured this show going 5-6 seasons and them never really leaving staten Island. And the Colin Robinson ending 😂 I am absolutely pumped for season 4.

This episode was so good! I am happy that Colin Robinson is back and that it left so much room for season 4. With three big cliff hangers and the show being just as funny as season 2 I can't wait for s4. Just wish the episodic plots got a little better although I still though this season was basically the same rates as s2 and disliked s1. The episode was amazing though.

The best episode yet
sonyabrockman3 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode surprised me in so many ways. It was more intense and emotional than I've come to expect from this irreverent comedy, but that intensity comes about organically from tensions that have been building up all season, like Nandor's depression and increasing sense of disconnect and the chosen family motif.

Guillermo and Nandor's fight had me holding my breath (and yeah, not gonna lie, I would've been thrilled had it ended like that scene with Buffy and Spike bringing down a building. Yeah, I ship it.)

What hit me the hardest, though, was Laszlo - Matt Berry's performance in this and 3.09 brings such a poignant complexity to the affable character, and he had me tearing up twice in a matter of minutes.

And finally, the ending...THAT ENDING. Oh my lord! I cannot wait to see where the series goes in season 4, now that we have the whole crew scattered to the wind.

Warning: Spoilers
This season has been great with the usual hi jinxes and seeing Nandor in a Jane Fonda style 80's get fit outfit with his short shorts will stay with me for a long time. But this episode actually gave me a tear in the eye at the end when poor Guillermo gets tricked into going to England and leaves poor Nandor thinking he had been abandoned. It'll be interesting to see how they go forward with baby Colin I'm glad he's not totally gone they all had a great chemistry together it was great seeing Taika again. Can't wait for the next season. I'm glad they don't over do the episodes like usual US shows where there are 18 or 20 episodes they keep it short and snappy with no fillers.

Once a Great show, always a great show
CurtisWall7 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It might be early with only three seasons to state, but WWDITS is easily one of the best comedies in resent years and this last episode was the nail in the coffin for that assessment. This final episode left me happy, and for obvious reasons extremely unsettled. It's very simple really, a final should leave the audience wanting more without denying to much. I was afraid and vexed over the idea that we wouldn't find out the mystery that is Colin Robinson. Not until Lazlo returned from the basement with that gawky expression was i relieved, I simply knew something was up but not quiet what. There are so many things to look forward to in season 4, to many to mention here. All I can say is that I find it unlikely that future season would disappoint me.

The Dysfunctional Fun Continues (season 3 review)
JoshuaMercott12 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
S03 Review

The crazy-funny vamps are back in yet another season of cream-of-the-crop comedy. "What We Do In The Shadows" season 3 on Disney+ Hotstar (originally on Hulu and FX) brought a world's worth of entertainment and fun, and answered lingering questions from season 2 as it went.

The three vampires at the heart (pun intended) of the story are Nandor (played by Kayvan Novak), Laszlo Cravensworth (played by Matt Berry), and Nadja (played by Natasia Demetriou). A strange sort of energy vampire character was Colin Robinson (played by Mark Proksch). They were all in form this season.

The vamps' mansion-servant (see what I did there, man-servant, mansion, nevermind) was Guillermo de la Cruz (played by Harvey Guillén) - I saw brief new 'Van Helsing' sides to him this season, which was amazing in every scripted regard.

Season 3 of Disney+ Hotstar's "What We Do In The Shadows" saw our three beloved vampires meeting with fortune where the Vampiric Council was concerned. Guillermo's fate, however, was on treacherous terrain. Being technically a 'familiar', Guillermo's slaughtering of numerous vampires during that theatre event in season 2 led to a plethora of suspicion-casting and blame-gaming this season.

Nando and fam are made leaders of their local vampiric council, owing in large part to Guillermo having killed many of the originals, which left a void that needed filling. Plenty of usual 'shadows' fare unravelled. Comedy - explicit, crude, cringe-worthy, vulgar, and otherwise - kept the entertainment going.

Great work on musical scoring, VFX and special effects. Noteworthy direction (across different episodes) by Yana Gorskaya, Tim Fong, and Kyle Newacheck.

Taika Waititi as Viago and Kristen Schaal as The Guide gave rib-tickling performances. Some interesting and fun names popped up during the delegation visit in epi 9. Donal Hogue, as himself, brought some nice energy to the mix. Khandi Alexander as Contessa Carmilla De Mornay was a good element. And David Cross as Dominykas the Dreadful was just splendid.

I was saddened to see them kill off Colin Robinson, though. An energy vampire apparently perishes when they attain 100 years of age, and that night happened to be Colin's 100th birthday. Just when I was about to wish they brought him back, they did. It is not a pleasant baby that now walks this earth I can tell you that.

It was fun and hilarious to explore this new story arc. Some nice scares and thrills prevailed this season, which did not disappoint in the slightest. The corny comedies and actual punch-worthy comebacks were all great fun.

The showrunners have clearly not lost their touch in "What We Do In The Shadows" Season 3 in which four dysfunctional vampires and their clueless human-wants-to-be-a-vampire-someday familiar do what they do best. That subterfuge-ridden cliffhanger finale - and with everyone taking different paths - certainly laid the unholy groundwork for more daring fun and frills to come in season 4.

Season Three Review
southdavid24 December 2021
After some early shaky episodes, I think "What We Do In The Shadows" has been a sitcom that has really delivered. This third season, which on a couple of occasions looks like it might shake up the formula, is probably the best on so far.

The events of the second season leave a power vacuum at the top of the local Vampiric Council. For some reason, the powers that be choose Nadia (Natasha Demetriou) and Nandor (Kayvan Novak) to fill that void. Assisted by The Guide (Kristen Schaal) the pair struggle to coexist and make any progress. Laszlo (Matt Berry) has made closer friends with Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as they explore the library looking for information about the origin of energy vampires.

Though generally the series maintains its level of consistently amusing, rather than laugh our loud funny, this season does include what, for me was the best moment the show has managed so far. In storyline, the other characters appear as Nandor, to try and clinch a date for him. This allows Kayvan Novak, a skilled mimic as anyone who's seen his wider work can testify, to give us his impressions of Proksch and Harvey Guillen, but most hilariously of all, his take of Matt Berry.

The season actually runs a few more season long stories than they previously have. Pairing Laszlo and Colin Robinson is interesting, they play off each other well even though it feels like a bit of a character change for Laszlo, which then feeds back into the story. Nandor's frustrations are hit several times, his love life falling apart three times, leading to the dramatic decisions he makes at the end. Donal Logue is a welcome cameo, as is a small one from Scott Bakula insisting, despite his last name, that he's not a vampire.

I assuming that season four will likely reset much of what happened in the last couple of episodes but, either way, I'll certainly be here to see it.

Probably the best episode in a season that had a couple week episodes (the siren for instance). Colin Robinson is definitely an enigma. Great twists! Can't wait to see how it plays out season 4.

Goo, Goo, Goo, for You
Hitchcoc26 September 2022
In the post world of Colin Robinson, there is unrest at the house. Nadja wants to go to London to head the council, but Laszlo will not hear of it. Nandor has a similar path in mind as he decides to see the world. Guillermo is stunned because Nandor has told him he can no longer use him, so we have packing, testing, and more. Things come to a head as the boxes are put on a train to be taken to their destination. It makes one wonder what is in store for the beginning of the new season. The episode ends with one of the most grotesque, nearly sickening things I've ever observed. What will be the result of the discovery.

they know this show's strengths and weaknesses

Warning: Spoilers
Writing this review from 2023 (partly into S5 now but no spoilers past this episode), this is where I really realized the show's writers do understand when things are getting bogged down.

I never liked Colin Robinson's character and agreed that he in particular needs a shakeup. So they did something gratifyingly surprising. I'll leave it to others to decide whether the upshot actually got us anywhere with him or just came around to the status quo.

Anyway on to the character who's emerged as my favorite: Guillermo. I figured he and Nandor would journey to the Tigris, find that it's all dried up, oops I guess you can't be a vampire Guillermo. But the poor guy didn't even get that far.

I was truly NOT expecting that...when I found out what the Oreos & Pedialyte were really for! I watched this episode thinking it was the last episode of the series, but have since learned, thankfully, there will be a season 4, can't wait! Also, glad to see Colin Robinson will be back.

Just like last year we had a really poor finale. It got way too weird but the thing that truly bothered me was the new Colin Robinson at the end. I thought we would be free of the character but no such luck.
