Incredibly poorly made film
nrgins26 July 2023
This film seriously feels like it was a project done by a college film student doing his first film. The writing is bland and pedestrian. The acting is mediocre bordering on bad. The premise of the film is intriguing. But the story spins in several different directions, resulting in loose threads that never get tied up, except for with the main character. The whole time I was watching it I felt like I was watching some kind of low budget amateur film that was just really poorly made. Terrible special effects and just an overall sad attempt at a film. The lead actress was pretty good, I'll grant you that. But other than that, it was just a mess of a film that I couldn't believe was even being shown on a streaming service. I watched it to the end, just to see what would happen, but I was relieved when it was finally over.

A Story About Nothing
edarbys31 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Its a love story without either love or a story. Most of the shots in this film are of a single character sitting, alone, not moving with no obvious connection to any prior scene or yet to be revealed scene. By the end of the film we know virtually nothing about either of the main characters other than he was out of money and had a boring job. She is a neo-hippy chic that the director spends most of her on screen time taking glamour shots of her face painted in the most gawd awful eye make-up that looks like it was applied by a 13 year old teeny bopper. The rest of her shots are mostly of her walking around in panties and a T-shirt. But we end up knowing nothing about her. She's being chased by the bad guys but we never really find out why. She goes from home to home doing something that she described as "helping" but we end up knowing nothing of what that is all about. She does have a philosophy of sorts. Rather than watching the film just check a few bumper stickers. Actually the bumper stickers are probably more philosophically logical.

In the end the film ends up being more boring than our male character's boring job (whatever that job was...we don't know). Then the film ends after he loses contact with her, finds her again (she's a cashier all lone working the night shift in a 7-11 type store) but she does not remember him. In that final scene his behavior is so freaking weird that a real woman would lock herself in a safety room and call the police. Instead she says yes to a date. Good luck, girl. Hope the date doesn't match his behavior.

Hard pass.

The Matrix read the Alchemist then fell in love!

Feel good beautifully awkward love story with enough action and drama to keep you sucked in while portraying a strong theme of hope in a bit of a Power of Intention manner through a really entertaining sci-fi plot. Absolute breakout performances by both leads, Morgan Makana & Joel Ballard with their interaction in the end scene guaranteed to make you smile. The cinematography and music score are very well done and adds volumes to the story. Absolutely an hour and a half of life worth investing in a creative storyline that makes you want to really listen to your gut/the universe and take some risks to full live. Must watch!
