Inspiring story about a strong willed girl
topsi914 June 2023
It was an interesting documentary, the little actress they chose was pretty and there were similarities in the looks. The story itself sound so unreal, what a lucky coincidence for her to manage to escape before being killed. It's inspiring story about how Kara turned her life around for the better and tried to take the best out of such a terrible situation. I like stories about survivors, you could also tell how much her ex boyfriend still loves her in his own way... I wish the lifetime movie (that I am about to watch) was with the girl from this documentary. And Kara? Kara is a strong, brave woman. Her 2 little boys are so cute. All the best to her.

Gotta Love Lifetime

It brought a tear to my eye so it's a an automatic 10. Based on a true story with a few differences from what actually happened, yet spot on overall. I hadn't heard of the story before watching the movie which is what made it an even better experience. Acting was well done and what you'd come to expect in these kind of films dealing with kidnapping/ rape, etc and as a parent myself you can feel the anxiety in what you would go through ever having to go through such a situation.

I can't stand giving spoilers so I won't go into exactly what happens, but the execution of the film is well and worth the hour and a half investment.

Almost a copy of the film about Lisa McVey
Boristhemoggy15 February 2023
In 2018 Katie Douglas starred in the film of a true story about Lisa McVey, who was abducted but managed to escape her kidnapper. She was not initially believed by police but due to her presence of mind in noting many details about her abductor, police were later able to catch him and he was executed for many other abductions, rapes and murders.

In this film Katie Douglas again plays aa girl, this time Kara Robinson, in a true story about her abduction by a serial killer, her rape and eventual escape, and how by memorising many details about the man who abducted her helped the police find out who he was. As they moved in to arrest him he shot himself.

Although the plot is slightly different, the main gist f teh two films is identical and Katie Douglas does a fine job of acting in both. Sadly in the Kara Robinson story the production values fit a low budget TV film rather than the better produced Lisa McVey story.

Some very dodgy editing means the film doesn't flow, and acting from all the cast apart from Douglas ranged from average to poor.

Nevertheless it's a true story, and a shocking one and Douglas plays a great part so it's worth watching.
