I LED 3 LIVES "The Jet Engine" 1953
This is episode 9 of the 3 year and 115 episode run of the Red Scare series, I LED THREE LIVES. This 1953 to 1956 series is based on the exploits of, Herbert A. Philbrick. Philbrick spent 9 years undercover for the FBI keeping tabs on the Communist party. Richard Carlson plays the title role.
Carlson is contacted by his F.B.I. handler, John Zaremba, to look into a possible Red cell going after a secret jet engine. Carlson hits the local Red headquarters to offer his time for the party. There seems to be a few big-wig types in town from other cities.
Carlson is asked if he happens to know how to operate any machinery used in engine production. He does not, so he is passed over by the party types. Carlson contacts his handler, Zaremba and lets him know about the commies looking for machine operators.
Carlson lucks out when he happens to see a red operative entering a local factory. The F.B.I. soon has a man of their own at the plant keeping tabs on the swine. This of course leads the F.B.I. to other links in the Red spy cell.
This is an interesting little episode that zips along under the steady hand of B-film specialist, Lew Landers. The story is kept at pace by using Carlson to narrate the action. Not bad at all.
