Very Charming and Silly X-mas movie and Great Tune by The School! ;D
midnitepantera26 December 2021
This is obviously a low budget comedy, I didn't recognize any actors, but I really had a lot of fun. It was like being at a weirdo friends x-mas party. And I love funny weirdos! ;D. And I related because I've had the tradition of throwing a HuGE X-mas EVE Dinner Bash for all my friends since 1991. Good and Crazy people I collected as friends over the years.

The main 4 characters, I really liked. They were cute and awkward, but had A Lot of Heart. It felt like Real Crazy things that happens in life and relationships, well, at least before all the internet swipe (left or right cr@p). This Felt Old School and Fun.

Christine Weatherup (Who wrote, directed and also plays (Annie) part of couple (Annie & Tom) who throws this traditional Clarkmas Christmas party with her hubby for their weirdo pals, did a Great Job Capturing a jolly Christmas spirit, with plausible mishaps) Because in the REAL World everything isn't all FACEBOOK & INSTA FAKE PERFECT! So that scored an extra point from me. ;D

And kudos to band, The School song: Happy Christmas (don't tell me it's over) in the Beginning Credits. What a fun song, despite it's kinda sad meaning.

LOL It's stuck in my head now.

I wasn't familiar with Christine Weatherup or The School, but I will be looking forward to see & hear more from Both. And hopefully seeing some of the actors in this movie in future movies and tv. ;D NICE Job!! ;D I even added this to my IMDB list (My Top Christmas Movies I Love!) ;D.

A holiday movie that understands the next generation
jjanthony-7297316 November 2021
See You Next Christmas captures the joys and turns of adulting with good friends after college. The reality of the holidays is a backbone that brings us back to Clarkmas every year to mark life's milestones across your close-knit group. It has love, reflection, and laugh out loud moments! It was fun to watch!

Charming romantic holiday comedy
csm107200016 December 2022
Watched a fine gem of a holiday film on Prime-See You Next Christmas. It's a well written/directed engaging romantic comedy that is effectively low key and high on charm. In the film, we meet Annie (Christine Weatherup, who also wrote the screenplay and directs with a sure hand!) and Tom Clark who throw a "Clarkmas" holiday party each year. When two single guests Natalie and Logan create some sparks at the film's initial first party, it becomes a "will they or will they not" hook up as we see them meet year after year at the annual Clarkmas party. Weatherup sets this up this creative device effectively and with a witty script and help of a strong ensemble cast. Weathrup and Vin Vescio are terrfic as our anchor couple the Clarks. They are very engaging and down to earth-the type of friends anyone could wish for to hold an annual Christmas party. It's also wise Weatherup allows us to get to know these two as we witness each Christmas event enfold. And Elizabeth Guest (niece of Christopher Guest and Jamie Lee Curtis) and AJ Meijer are a dynamo here as our off on couple. They have strong chemistry/sexual tension that makes us root for them. Guest is a fine combination of insecurity/and humorous vulnerability and Meier allows us to see angst/desperation behind his machismo. What really makes this soar is we get to know these characters over the course of several years-as lives changes, families grow and who knows- singles can become a couple. Due to the fine direction/screenplay and ensemble, we care and look forward to seeing what happens at the next Clarkmas party. This is one of the best indies I've seen in a while and an all too rare terrific romantic comedy.

Cute and fun Christmas movie
sorgenm8 September 2022
See You Next Christmas seems like it's going to be filled with old predictable tropes, but it's not. It's a great premise executed in an unexpected way. As the years go by, the main characters meet, seem like they're going to fall in love, and then are disappointed by each other-- which is pretty similar to how things usually go in real life... But over time, we really start to wonder if these two people can ever get together, which gives the movie a lot of suspense for a romantic comedy. Also impressive that the filmmakers attempted to make a Christmas movie on a budget. Most indie films don't have the guts to try that, because Christmas can be so lavish and elaborate, which gets expensive fast. The key seems to be to keep it grounded and localized in one place. The approach to filmmaking is in a lot of ways as clever as the film.

A holly jolly good time!

Love this film. It has heart, comedy, romance, a whole lotta holiday spirit, and a mega high re-watchability quotient. It's one that will be in your Christmas movie rotation for forever!

This film gets the 'growing up' aspects of adulthood spot on. It appeals to the older millennials out there considering moving from apartments to houses or having kids. Writer/director Weatherup really nails these emotions and the actors do a fantastic job of being both believable and hilarious.

You'll really appreciate the banter, the antics, and the fun cameo. It makes me want to go to Clarkmas this year and every year.

Fun film!
josearaica9 September 2022
This reminded me of old school Miramax films, great dialogue, funny actors, tight script. Just all around a well made indie. I especially enjoyed the chemistry between our leads, and the people at the party are weaving in and out of the story that reminds me of films like The Party, or 200 Cigarettes. If you're looking for a fresh modern spin on the classic Christmas can be chaos story, I recommend this. This was also written and directed by Christine Weatherup who managed the Herculean task of producing an indie film during the time of Superhero movies. It's nice seeing things coming out of Hollywood with character driven storylines and snappy dialogue. I look forward to whatever is next on her plate.

This is a Fun, Charming Film
alanawhite9 September 2022
Had a really good time with this one! Nice for a Saturday night with a big bucket of popcorn, an almost as big glass of wine, and maybe some M&M thrown in. I kind of just stumbled onto this movie on Amazon but after watching, this will definitely be joining the pantheon of my fave Christmas films. (Because in one way or another we have all been one of these characters. Lol. Or maybe it's just me.) Anyhooooo, I don't want to spoiler you but I will just say that I liked this one quite a bit. (And that I am now thinking of having an annual "Clarkmas" of my own!) So if you are looking for a fun, Christmas-themed romance, check this one out and revel in the humor and the entirely relatable awkwardness.

New spin on Christmas
wsemom1 December 2022
We loved See You Next Christmas! It was like a breath of fresh air take on the sappy, overly predictable holiday movies. Elizabeth Guest gave an engaging performance. She inspires a connection from the very beginning. You can relate to the awkward moments and immediately start to cheer her on. I hope to see her in more things in the future. The flaws were typical of indie films with a very lean budget. It didn't distract from the charm of the movie. They did a great job of creating quirky characters, that, let's face it we all have in our friend group. Hot chocolate with marshmallows anyone? Get cozy and enjoy this addition to your annual list of holiday movies!

Solid choice for my new favorite annual holiday film
abigailewright5 December 2022
Watching See You Next Christmas catapulted me into the feeling of a warm, honest family tradition at the holidays. I loved the way this community of characters celebrates each year through all the many and massive changes in their lives. It doesn't shy away from the real, awkward scenarios that can present themselves during times of holiday stress. The close knit relationships definitely go through some realistic conflict, and the portrayal of strangers at a party definitely reminded me of some I've attended myself. The characters are fun, nuanced, and compelling, and the movie breathes a refreshing air of authenticity I want to see again next Christmas.

Christmas Fun
jenn-2278 September 2022
It's a nice change to have an indie Christmas film have more depth than the typical Hallmark channel flick. I genuinely enjoyed the flick and I didn't even watch it at Christmas time with all the normal pre-built in Christmas feels. It can be hard to get into indie films because they don't have known faces that we are already attached to, but after a couple scenes I was all in with all the characters and didn't care that I didn't know them before this. The film has laughs, heart, and no over the top sappy storyline. Grab some popcorn, put on comfy PJ's, and just enjoy a little time away from the chaos that is life.

This movie is a gift!
bbrandle-7014518 May 2023
I've surveyed way more than my fair share of bingeable holiday films and am a bit of a Christmas genre amateur connoisseur. See you next Christmas grounds holiday joy, magic, and traditions, and is a totally fresh take on a Christmas rom-com. The story is lovely. The cast is charming. It was so fun to see the husband from Brooklyn 99 (Marc Evan Jackson). The Christmas vibes are endless.

This coming of age (from carefree post-college years, to folks coupling off, buying houses, and some having kids) filled me with nostalgia, warm fuzzies, and a need to plan a holiday party. This will certainly be a repeat watch each December!
