It was a strange journey and also a long and very annoying one too. But a good journey nonetheless.

Just finished this game made for the Nintendo DS and while it proved a very frustrating endeavor it was, overall, a good game. Just expect this game to have the myriad of flaws that most games that carry the Shin Megami name to have, which some would argue are not flaws. Which is to say that it is incredibly long, it took me over 60 hours to win and I had to cheat in the end to win, if I had worked at making myself strong enough to win it would have probably been closer to 80 plus. I just found that for a game made for a hand held that it should not run that long. It is also incredibly difficult, I never would have won the game without online strategies and passwords to make super powerful demons. There is also a whole ton of grinding to be done, that is until I found out how to make demons using passwords off the internet (so thankful for that, I would still be pulling out my hair otherwise). What makes it good, however, is the story which also games with the Shin Megami name have in common. In fact this one was as interesting as Nocturne as a mysterious aberration has appeared in the Antarctic that first started off small, but soon grows larger threatening to consume the entire world. The borders of this area destroy what is in its path so special vehicles are made and a team of researchers and military personal are sent in to investigate what is causing this abnormality. Things go bad right off the start as your ship ends up crashed and soon your character must explore this strange area within the abnormality called the Schwarzwelt. Demons roam this land and they are itching for a fight. The team leader goes down fairly early after your arrival and things just keep getting worse as your team becomes lead for the most part by the ship's artificial intelligence named Arthur who tries to figure a way out of this land and to stop this land from encompassing the Earth. The story had me hooked, and this would have been one of best games ever without the flaws that somehow always make up these games. Once again I am sure a number of people would say these flaws are merely challenges and that they enjoy them, and to you I say I salute you! I am very impressed by anyone who can make it through this game using their own demons and slaying that last demon in the main storyline. As with other Shin Megami games you will be recruiting and fusing demons and that is another thing that makes these games a bit frustrating as you are never sure if you should keep a demon or fuse or whatever. However, you can register them and summon them later. You can also use passwords that you can find online to summon super powered demons to really kick some butt. The more serious gamer I do not recommend this to, this is for the casual gamer more interested in the story rather than the fighting and leveling. Wish I would have figured it out sooner and I give a big thanks to those of you who put out those codes.
