When you boot up the game for the first time, you feel like you were guilty and sentence to a life in prison. But it only take certain amount of days. The game is about life in prison, and there are wardens that they patrol the prison holding weapons, whenever you get bored in the game, you can do atrocious stuff like assaulting a warden/prisoner/civilian, stealing items etc. And the cops notice it and the action begins which means you want to resist arrest and avoid from the cops, this adds up more action to the game when you get an opportunity to hold a weapon, but on the other side, you can become violent in the real world which would make the cosunquences much worse, overall it's fun.
