Amazing
MamadNobari9724 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was simply amazing and the best episode of the season so far.

This episode had it all and pretty much is what Invincible is: Mauler Twins cloning and arguing about which is the original? Check. Amazing soundtrack and song choices? Check. Twists after twists? Check. Viltrumite on innocent creatures violence? Check. Viltrumite on Viltrumite violence? Check. Father and son conflicts? Check. New mystery about a character's identity and his existence in general? Check. Superheros putting civilians in danger and getting the consequences of their reckless actions? Check.

This episode is pretty much perfect with again some of the most brutal fight scenes from the show and new creative ways from Omni-Man to annihilate other living beings.

The conflict between Mark and Nolan is in my opinion portrayed beautifully and the progression of it doesn't feel forced or rushed at all. Mark's reaction and decisions make sense and are in character. Though I hope he learns that he isn't the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and act like he doesn't want to actually kill in this ultra-violent world.

The storyline with Debbie is also going smoothly and I think now I can understand where it's going, or I assume it will, and it's her dealing with Nolan when they reunite again.

I feel like Atom Eve's story is getting a little repetitive and she should've learned her lessons by now, but I doubt they'll repeat the same thing next week.

Overall it's a pretty great and brutal episode and the season is getting better and better. Wish there were more episodes per season because I can't get enough of this world and its characters.

THE WAIT IS ON FOR EPISODE 5
SlummyT24 November 2023
I cannot describe how much I enjoy watching invincible in my opinion at the moment there is nothing else like it this episode just proves how incredible this series really.

I am excited for what's to come next for the characters (unfortunately) there is no offical date for when episode 5 will air which is a bummer but I'm hoping the wait until then will leave me more hyped to see the rest.

The ratings for this episode are high for a reason the stakes, the action and where the story is headed. I must say I was glad they didn't take a cliche approach. Invincible keeps on surprising me and while I wait for the next episode I'm going to take Nolan's advice and "read my books" by starting the graphic novel.

Finally, a closer look at the Viltrumites. Spoiler: they're really good villains
eryknieeryk24 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Nolan finally comes back in the greatest fashion possible and we finally learn what he was up to after leaving Earth. Long story short - he missed his life on Earth, so he got together with an alien woman, and that's where Mark's half-brother Oliver comes in. What ensues is such an interesting conflict: Mark is completely against ever working side by side with his father, but can't leave Nolan's new planet - Thraxa -'s inhabitants to just die; even Nolan's reckless choice to have a new life on Thraxa and sealing the fates of its people is almost understandable, because letting go of something he never felt before coming to Earth - love - did a number on him and without it, he would've just flown through space aimlessly until his air ran out. An incredible character.

Also, the animation in this episode is some of the best in the series as a whole, masterful. Viltrumites Lucan, Vidor and Thula were great and very intimidating villains. The way they and all their people are completely convinced that their extremely cruel and unforgiving ways are in the right and need to be enforced at all costs makes them frightening and makes you want Mark (and Nolan by extension) to break their shackles all the more. Donald finding out about his mysterious resurrection and his suicide attempt is another good plot thread, looks like he'll get to the bottom of it.

If I hadn't said it already, amazing performances by Steven Yeun, the returning legend J. K. Simmons, Grey DeLisle as Thula, Phil LaMarr as Lucan etc. Great show.

Fantastic! Epic on scale!
cthirlby24 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After the slow burn that was the first three episodes of invincible this was an amazing pick up in pace and story. There is more direction for the character and the main plot of the show now as we get Omni-Man back and he delivers some informative and engaging dialogue to his son. Seeing Omni-Man back is amazing and to see this depressed and weak state of the character is interesting too but seeing he hasn't lost his touch on his brutality is something I am very happy about. He has some controversial words in this about him starting a new family too which is interesting and creates more drama for Marks character. Everyone is also very pissed off in this episode with lots of language and they definitely all have a right to be, everything is chaos and the world is forever expanding. Debbie is absolutely going through it again but finally realising she never needed Nolan after all and basically raised Mark on her own. Donald's story is mysterious too and leaves questions but I'm pretty sure he is like a terminator with a metal exoskeleton, really want to see more about that. But this episode was action packed with Nolan and Mark fighting other viltrumies with tons of blood and brutal deaths. I do really want to see Mark at full power and listen to his dad to unleash. The ending with Nolan taken back to Viltrum is crazy and Mark being told to get Earth ready to be conquered too is wild. The episode really shows the power of viltrumies but also teases how strong Mark can be if he allows himself, also the epic team up with father and son. Overall this episode was absolutely epic on scale and very intriguing and can't wait to see the next 4 episodes next year (unfortunately got to wait)

This is what we were looking for
Nichking0424 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So, when season two came out I remember when i was a few episodes in I felt like it wasn't gonna hold up to season one because of the action, but this episode makes up for all the newer episodes that came out aside from episode 3 which showed Allen the Alien Get Killed anyway we get to finally see Omni man for the first time since episode 8 this episode was really good we get to see what happened to Omni man after he left earth after the aftermath in Chicago you get to see that he is living on a different planet and moved on with his life he has a Wife and also a child who is also half Viltrumite just like Mark it's still scary to see Omni man after what he did though anyway, we get to see by far one of the best fights we've seen in season two where Mark Omni man fight other Viltrumites this had to be the most violent fight I've seen in all the season. Amazing episode I mean the amount of violence is crazy. 10/10.

Great payoff from the last three episodes
I_J_R_26 November 2023
The show feels like it's really hit its stride with this episode. I think I speak for a lot of viewers who thought the first three episodes were slow at best and disappointing at worst. But in retrospect of my first watch of S2E4, they serve as appropriate buildup to an extremely satisfying inflection point for the show.

Part of what made this so great was the return of J. K. Simmons as Omniman. His performance in season 1 was terrifying yet relatable (and the source of incredibly iconic memes). He comes back with another impressive, show-making performance by balancing his tender emotions with psychotic aggression. Simmons also helps bring Steven Yuen as his son to new heights as we try to comprehend with him one crazy, unprecedented revelation after another. The fight scenes are also incredible displays of animated ultra-violence with characters I'm surprised to care about so much.

The show also develops other subplots involving other great characters (both old and new) with satisfying moments where we see them grow (Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson and Mark Hamill as Art especially, and unexpectedly Rhea Seehorn in a role I don't want to spoil). Even though it obviously leaves off with a cliffhanger, it had a "decades happening within weeks" feel that advanced the story in a very satisfying way. Hopefully the show can maintain this momentum.

The series is back!
vanstyler_zero26 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After several falls this season, the series returned to what makes it interesting, superheroes having to deal with real problems that threaten the world as we know it. Includes family dramas that will of course have you glued to your seat. Honestly, at first I had no faith in an episode that would once again involve Omni-man in a relationship with her son, but it was a pleasant surprise since they did it in a completely shocking way, thus demonstrating feelings of the superhero that had not been expressed. Seen before. And to put the icing on the cake, we had an epic fight where father and son join forces against a real threat, so far the best of the season.

What an AMAZING episode!!!
jobdebruycker25 November 2023
This episode had everything I wanted out of this show, season 2 started off with a lot of build-up and showing us how big this world really is. And now finally we get to see one of the best moments of the comicbook, this episode had it all emotional scenes, great music and obviously some AWESOME fight scenes.

Every character had time to shine, Omni-man being the highlight in showing how broken he is after what happened on earth. While Mark really struggles with the switch of his dad becoming 'good' again, this episode also shows us some new lows for Debbie and Eve and shows us how they are really at their lowest.

I also loved all the little changes that they are making form the comics, every change feels justified and really adds another layer to the story.

All in all this might be my new favorite episode yet, if you haven't watched season 2 I highly recommend you do because it is a BLAST! So I can't wait for the second half of this season and the next seasons!!!!

The episode was so good. Omni man was really special and the development of his character grows bigger now after this episode. I can't wait for the second part of the season. The first part was good. This episode made it even better and it probably is my third favorite episode of the show. I've read the comics and if they do it right I think the next part would be even better than this outstanding episode. I feel like the vultramites doesn't feel as strong in the show as it does in the comics. But it doesn't affect my opinion on the episode. After this episode I start to hate vultramites even more.

Really good episode but VA seemed off
merijnsterk30 November 2023
The episode in total was amazing, but the voice acting of Simmons seemed generic or auto generated at parts, which is not like him at all so I wonder what happened there.. it didn't suck me in as it normally would hence I didn't give it a 10. It usually feels way more personal instead of reading up the lines so my guess the editing was somewhat off.

The season stop after only 4 episodes and such a cliffhanger is a bummer as we finally got an episode that goes into the right direction again and lives up to the Invincible we know.

But alas we'll have to wait until January to see what happens next.

-a while
Trey_Trebuchet13 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Was just WAITING for that Staind song to play! Missed opportunity. The soundtrack in this series is so dang great though.

Anyway, loved this episode obviously.

This almost feels like a season finale. I can see why there's a mid-season break I guess. I loved reading through the comics, and this series makes me want to revisit them. It has so far done them justice if you ask me.

Mark is such a great character, and such a nice guy. It's a shame that things just keep getting worse for him (and the worst is unforgettable to come, doubt we'll get that stuff this season). It'll be interesting when he gets to the point that he literally cannot hold back his punches. His dad is actually right in those regards.

Also love what they're done with Debbie's far. I'm really content with her in this episode especially. Very excited to see where they're taking her character.

Also happy to see Eve getting so much progression and screen time. I really loved her special and I really loved her in the comics.

And Donald is getting an arc too? How random. I'm actually excited for more of him. All of his scenes were sooooo depressing.

And yeah, the last act in this episode was brutal and intense. Poor Mark!

The next half of this season can't come soon enough. The show's animation, comic book callbacks and voice work have all been really, really good. Great stuff.

Good, but...
thekingmanx27 November 2023
If I'm being honest, this new season has been pretty disappointing overall. Not that it's been bad, but I can't help but feel something is missing, this episode being the biggest offender. The reunion between Omni-man and Invincible just feels so underwhelming, and Omni-mans behavior this episode is confusing to say the least. Like I understand what they were going for but Honestly it just feels like the writing here is really sloppy to the point where the internal conflict Omni-man is supposedly going through is clumsily communicated. All the none Omni-man Invincible stuff is also not very interesting unfortunately, something the First season was much better at keeping interesting. Also the animation quality, while it isn't bad nor is it worse than the first season, it still isn't very good and those cracks are starting to seep. But still, I can't deny that overall this episode was pretty entertaining and a lot of interesting stuff is being set up for the future that I'm looking forward too. Hopefully it turns me around on this season as a whole.

Side Note: WHY DO WE HAVE TO HAVE A MID SEASON BREAK!? AOT and it's effects.

Missing logic ?
marcosarferreira8 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I am surprised that this episode is gathering so many positive reviews .

People, this episode turn me completely off from the series . There is no logic to it:

He decided to attack and take earth by force, with almost no regards about his family - family that he created during 20 years - but from scratch he is now with a new family and doing his best to save them , even using is older child , risking his life, to save them.

A family that he has just created... okay, there is truly no sense to it , no logic . Obviously the fight scenes etc are well crafted but still, where is the story ? We need ground to walk on.

Not bad.

Warning: Spoilers
This was a good episode in a pretty good program series so far and interesting changes from comics to series like some don't like other's and hoping for future some change and some same like mark and eve hope they still end up together.

Thought was interesting how his half bro is purple happy not changed that and action was good from what could see.

Notes: #. Please stop ruining cool action parts by shaking screen like did when hits made contact, it's not good it's terrible makes dizzying and hard to see view and jumping around is just confusing. Please stop doing this #. Mores blue brothers interesting also what he said at end was cool.

#. Amber sigh why is she still in this series no matter how 100% change in personality from season 1 damage already done can't just suddenly change her like this and it make sense to story. Shame she still in story at all ahhh. Also she is the most ugly character in whole program so far her comic version is quite attractive personality & appearance though.

Thanks for making and was interesting story also not bad put together should be interesting see what happens next.

(And trouble mark has finding way home haha.)

Really clever plot held back by weak confused dialogue
jennaseehorn24 November 2023
In theory this episode is great! Fun developments, interesting revelations, exciting set-ups, both long-awaited and fresh confrontations, etc.

But the story's outline is just the outline, and when it comes to this episode specifically I found the dialogue abysmal. It honestly feels like someone presented the outline to an AI, which then wrote the episode for them. More than ever in this usually great, character-driven series, the dialogue and actions do not seem to come from the characters themselves. Instead, they all say and do cliché (and sometimes contradicting) things.

Characters say one-liners and aphorisms which sound sound cool or poetic, but don't make any sense for them to say. Characters do one thing (sometimes for a cliché dramatic effect) and then immediately flip back to contradictory behaviour. Mind you, this could work when done organically and thematically, as Invincible has done incredibly well before! But here characters flip-flop their behaviour in a very stilted, moment-to-moment way, which to my ear actively hindered the voice actors' performances.

I really like this series because of its characters and themes. But this episode, characters said and did what an AI might think these characters would say and do. Their emotions were bent in favour of quips and the themes were buried beneath empty word salad.

Some gorgeous imagery though and the fights were cool.

How the mighty fall - A 4 ep destruction
Kaioh1238 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Worst trash I've seen this year it's extremely dumb and boring and gave me more headache than joy. It's a complete waste of time and it's a subversion of excpectations from what was built up in s1 and unilaterally in a bad way, it's like they did a full bone graft of everything that worked from s1 and replaced it with maneur so it's nice and full of chit for 4 episodes. I feel bait and switched here I excpected an exciting suerhero animation but got a stupid slow and boring exaggerated and stretcht out soapy goo that never seemed to end. Can't believe people actually like s2 possibly fake hype ? What a disappointment a disgraceful way to follow up the greatness in quality from s1 I'm out and it's a sollid 1/10 from me.
