Stupid but entertaining
loganharman-8322326 January 2022
It's the stupidest idea but is very entertaining. I don't know how to explain it but for some odd reason I really enjoy this show. After every show I have to assume these people go to an actual court because Steve Harvey is not a legal judge so the show gets nothing done or the whole thing is staged. Sometimes if you just watch the crowd some of their reactions are so exaggerated and it's easily the funniest about the about the show. It's judge Judy except it's The guy from family feud what did you expect.

Seriously, people?
When I saw the preview for this I was like really? Seriously? This is why I've become convinced that I need to build an underground bunker in my backyard, to protect myself from the increasing stupidity of society! Court shows where the judge has a law degree are bad enough - because let's face it, people change themselves when they're on TV. The fame goes to their head. As a result, they over-exaggerate their personality and behavior for ratings. Judge Mathis started out professional, but over the last decade he's been cracking a joke every 5 seconds and then the audience laughs uproariously, so that's turned into nothing more than a sitcom. I also read a review here on this website that said he sometimes calls the litigants ugly (like he's eye candy himself...). Judge Judy is always referring to people as idiots, stupid, morons, etc. I understand people irritate her, because instead of owning up to being wrong they make excuses and blame everyone else, but after listening to her shout nonstop I get a headache and turn the channel. Both of those court programs are annoying to watch, but then to have one where the person has NEVER attended law school? I have officially given up on television. All I need are YouTube, PBS, and DVDs of my favorite UK crime dramas.

Why, Why did ABC put money down for this??
mgentalen5 January 2022
Let me start by saying, Steve Harvey is not a judge. I watched this live, and yes, I had very very low expectations. I can just imagine the pitch, " court shows are big. We have Steve Harvey in our Network family, but celebrities are still nervous to travel due to covid, so we can't do a winter Celebrity Family Feud, hmm how about... Steve Harvey as a... Judge?"

The fact how Harvey made the court system a mockery made me mad. I don't get annoyed when I watch something, I watch to get entertained. This feels like a day time show , not a prime time slot. I kept thinking, there was NOTHING NOTHING better that ABC could have green lit instead? This is the reason people are leaving Broadcast.

A fine and funny show that helps escape life's everyday BS. Bonus: Steve Harvey is in it!
Top_Dawg_Critic29 April 2022
Even if you're not a fan of Steve Harvey (I am), this show is jokes and entertaining. I don't think anyone else could've pulled this off, because even Harvey's facial expressions without him saying anything is entertaining on its own. At first I was "huh, when did Harvey become a judge?" But after seeing it, I understand that it's all comedy, and it's actually unique, and we need as much comedy as we can get these days. So ya, I'm hooked, Steve Harvey is perfect for this show.

And You Thought Wendy Williams Was Bad
genious-354135 January 2022
Let's face it: Daytime TV is just plain bad. Wendy Williams, The View, The Talk, Steve Wilkos, Mary, Montel... it's all garbage. And fake courtroom shows where performers who happen to have a law degree are a dime-a-dozen so why is it that enough executives thought we needed a bad court show with someone who does NOT have a law degree, knows nothing about law but is really good at mugging, preening and posturing? Because it's what America wants. America doesn't care if it's fake, cooked, scripted... they just want something REALLY familiar with a slightly different name.

This show is pretty much nwatchable, even by daytime TV standards. And Steve Harvey being clueless about the law is not only NOT a liability but it's actually the hook. They use that fact as a marketing ploy and a selling points. There is nothing redeeming about this show and Steve Harvey should surround himself with fewer 'Yes Men'. Or maybe just ONE person that will step in and say 'maybe don't do this show'. But someone dropped a nickel and Harvey is there to pick it up. So with that said, I'm sure this show will be a huge hit. It's exactly what daytime audiences want: dreck.

This deserves more than a 4/10
cammyabechter2 February 2022
Of course this show doesn't deserve a 9 out of 10 rating. But it deserves way more than what it's getting. It is funny, entertaining, and Steve Harvey is a good guy who puts his opinion out there and I've agreed with every one so far. I hope this show keeps going!

This is a hilarious show... if you like Steve Harvey, you'll probably like it...

However, If you're expecting a "Judge Judy": atmosphere, it's probably not for you...

I'm trying to be generous with my rating
and_shove_it_up_your_butt10 January 2022
"Judge" Harvey is clearly doing all he can to secure the bag and I respect that, however, this is not his lane. I knew that I couldn't take the show seriously as soon as it began and he made an entrance similar to him stepping on stage to perform (with his back turned). I like to give credit where it's due and to be fair, some of the show was humorous. Unfortunately though, there was nothing new about his schtick in this fake environment with fake people pretending to have serious cases that would make me want to watch any more episodes.

Good entertainment better than judge Judy
yasir-9941426 January 2022
So far I have laughed at every one of his shows, it's not scripted and this it's very funny. I know it's not a serous courtroom drama. It's different than all other "Judge" TV show. I hope that show pick up momentum and more people realize so not a boring show.

Gotta be a Harvey fan
i_undefined28 January 2022
I find this show pretty entertaining, mainly because I love Steve Harvey and his comedy. If you like Family Feud, you'll like this. Don't watch if you're expecting an epic tale.

Ugh!!

Nothing worse than contributing to the dumbing down of American Television. That's all this show is good for. Amazing how low rich people will sink for another dime! SMH! Shame on Harvey.

Who is watching this show? It has no audience
Xavier_Stone16 January 2022
Besides the fake reviews on here praising the comedy of Steve Harvey trying to joke his way around a court room being a clueless ass, there is no one that I can think of that would watch this.

Anyone at all interested in a decent drama or outcome will be disappointed with his lack of understanding.

Even superfans of Steve Harvey aren't going to watch this more than a few times as it's agonizing and painful.

Last time I checked clueless and the law don't work together.

I mean, anyone could have been a better judge than this clown.

Steve Harvey should have been banished from Hollywood ages ago. He only survives to accommodate an older female black audience. Hopefully they get tired of him soon.

No it's not funny
Rastifan27 January 2022
He is just a burned out game show host trying to stay relevant and doesn't care how he does it. It's sad really. There is a time when you have to look in the mirror and call it quits. But some of them can't face that reality it seems.

Awesome fun... Steve Harvey for President!!!
jasonp-5984927 April 2022
Nearly every review is a 10 or a 1! In a world where common sense has all but disappeared, Steve is the man. I don't get the people who don't like it, of course it's no Shindlers List but for what it is trying to be, it delivers in abundance.

Steve brings his brilliant comedy and down to earth attitude to make this show funny, heartfelt and great escapism. Wish he could have done my divorce, or better still he should run the country :-)

Another good idea destroyed by poor execution
TheRealPuffyC17 May 2023
Let me start by saying I'm a huge Steve Harvey fan, so when I saw he was jumping on the judge show bandwagon I thought it might finally be one I could get behind. And if that's all this was it would be great, but it's not. What you get instead is one part rando daytime TV judge show combined with one part Jerry Springer. Steve does a great job because he's Steve after all, but the plaintiffs and defendants are so melodramatic and over the top it's literally painful to watch. Actually physically painful. You people couldn't just find normal people with normal disagreements could you, you had to crank it up a notch and turn it into Idiocracy the TV show. Too bad, because Steve would have been a great arbitrator, but everyone involved with all other aspects of designing this show should be banned from the entertainment industry for life. If you consider shows like "Ow my balls" to be fine art then you're gonna love this one, otherwise save yourself an hour you'll never get back.

Only 4 Episodes !!!!! We have laughed at every episode. 3 groups go before 'Judge' Steve each hour. Have only 1 episode to go. 2 of his sons are on crew. Courtroom is filled with people/audience. Need more episodes !!!

Entertaining
sydcoffey22 January 2022
This show is a guilty pleasure. It's entertaining to watch when I need a good pick me up. There was one young lady I kept seeing in the background I really enjoyed, brown curls and green sweater spotted in the first and third episode. I really hope production keeps bringing her back because her reactions were awesome and she's very pretty! Keep an eye out for her, she's maybe around 20 years old.

(I am a friend of the actress I described. I realize how it sounds very creepy if someone doesn't know that. But you should keep an eye out for her!)

Why
davidbedale7 February 2022
I watch the first episode and what's ABC thinking??? Love Steve Harvey and he's funny but not a judge. Hoping that he continues hosting family feud and celebrity family feud but this show is a complete waste of time and joke.

A show that knows what it is!
TarikTorres7 January 2022
I watched this on Hulu after its premiere, not on ABC. And let me tell you, I had a blast laughing with the plaintiffs, defendants, and Steve. As you can tell by my rating, I don't agree with the other two reviewers under this post. Judge Steve Harvey is a show that laughs at itself, he knows he's not a real judge, but that's the point! We're supposed to go through the case with him and maybe laugh at his insight too! Judge Steve Harvey is a show that knows what it is and, for that, I would give this show a good rating.

To one reviewer I would ask, how can you make a mockery of the US court system when it's already a joke, but that's a conversation for another time. This show was fun, enjoyable, and all it needed to be. Here's to a renewal!

Glad I only wasted 20 minutes of my life
baldmarc12 February 2022
Just the worst thing on TV. I like Family Feud and was curious how someone who didn't go to law school could call himself a judge and bang a gavel. I guess he's a judge like Dre is a doctor.

So crazy idiotic but I keep watching
lindo-julet29 January 2022
It's so nonsensical, I wish the cases were a bit more serious. The folks seem to be acting or trying to match Steve's demeanor.

But I keep watching every episode cause Steve is Steve and I love it.

So I'll say I hope this keeps going cause I a good comedy relief in court tv. He just needs better plaintiffs and defendants.

I think this show is the best thing that Steve has decided to do. Especially after all that hes been through (!ty Steve Harvey Doesn't Want To Host Anything Anymore)

Good wholesome show with the legend Steve Hightower. #bringberinceback.

Funny commonsense
tmafia-9527113 January 2022
I think people are judging this show too hard and not looking at what it really is... it's funny, street smart and commonsense. It's entertaining and isn't dirty... heaven for bid a show isn't full of drama sex and language because then it gets a bad rating. Just watch the show and laugh at the idiots lol.

A Classic in the making
KimitKimitTheFrg7 January 2022
TV has been plagued with judge shows for years, all the same and got very boring after a while, but Judge Steve Harvey subverts all expectations with its bold and sleek presentation as well as its handling of cort issues, but the main draw is Steve Harvey himself. Harvey has not almost no training or license to be a judge, and that is what makes the show interesting. It is far more down to earth than other shows like Judge Judy or Judge Jerry and allows for outsiders to understand the inner workings of a cortroom, while not leaving long time viewers alienate with its fresh new take on the Judge show genre.
