'What Makes Sammy Run?', the first of two heavy episodes that finish out the second season . . .
The big drug bust that's been occupying Sal's men finally goes down, incidentally turning Officer Sherman into a celebrity. But the episode clearly goes to Shawn Hatosy, who really shows off his skills in an emotional scene during the closing moments. It was almost a foregone conclusion that once Sammy befriended an at-risk youth (one with academic potential, no less) that tragedy was waiting in the wings. Not only that, but Sammy has to come home to a catastrophically bubble-headed wife (I hate Tammi), pregnancy is not happening for them, and it is just not his day, to say the least.
But this episode has big deal written all over it; big cartel take- downs, character development, and you can almost see the show's swagger in full effect.
8/10
