Marie is primed, trained, conditioned and made ready for life in Versailles, at a young age she's forced out of Austria, and sent to France to be intended for The Dauphin, Louis.
I don't know why, but I had put this series to the back of the pile, having somewhat become a little disillusioned with The BBC's historicals, however, despite a few liberties, I found it thoroughly enjoyable.
Marie is such a fascinating historical figure, and you have to hand it to the writing team for delivering a great script, the story from her point of view.
The visuals are impressive, truly on point, a decadent opening episode, the buildings of course look amazing, but the fashions are dazzling.
Best of all, the performance of Emilia Schüle, I thought she absolutely nailed it.
8/10.
