The title drew from London's STD code which began (at that time) with '01'. It's undergone several changes since.
This was a program I grew to thoroughly enjoy. It was screened late, starting at midnight, I think. At the time (1988/9) I was recovering from a road accident that had damaged my shoulder to the extent that I couldn't get out of bed. So, the solution was not to bother lying down at all and I slept in a chair in the lounge instead. And as I wasn't working, I could more or less snooze as fatigue dictated.
The programme became staple viewing for me. It featured a great deal of the capital's current affairs, which I found extremely absorbing.
Fondly recollected from that strange, painful time.
