I am so excited to find this show! During the pandemic I have been researching my ancestry and was stunned to find out my family goes back to the Mayflower! I have been following their trail throughout New England, and dreaming of the trip I will take to see the places they lived.

I was married to a carpenter for 10 years as well and we used to love going to swap meets to find vintage items.

This show is PERFECT for me!

Not too bad.

The presenters are a tad quirky, but it's not overdone as with so many shows these days. The show is a bit light in the actual work of restoration/renovation but still works well. The quality of the product (the homes) seems to be top notch. I will say I hope they don't have Jonathan Knight of Farmhouse Fixer back, his show, and his on camera presence is less than pleasurable experience and I couldn't watch his show at all. I was really disappointed to see him and the cheesy "NKOTB" jokes make an appearance on this show.

FABULOUS!!!!!!

This show is unbelievable...great I mean. Was browsing through HGTV and came across Houses with History, we'll give it a try.

We were NOT disappointed.

The home was the star of the show, but Mike and his passion and knowledge blew me away. But what do I know.

Rich involved in construction and Jenn who is in real estate put her creative touches on the inside of this 450 year old house. I need to find it on my menu and put it in auto record.

Excellent

Highly enjoyable cast, great locations, entertaining & educational.

I watched all 5 so far. Unlike other reno shows, these folks live and love their area. East coast historical is so much more interesting than other programs about flippers.

Thanks for this series, I love it.

Awesome show saving American history

I'm obsessed with this show. Quirky characters but doing amazing work restoring and saving our early American history. I only wish they could save all of them!

Excellent show!

The presenters are a little quirky and a lot of fun making this show very enjoyable to watch. All three have a lot of restoration/renovation and historical knowledge, and a love for what they're doing. That, combined with top-notch craftsmanship and little history lessons along the way make this a very unique show and it has become my favorite in the genre. Highly recommended and I'm looking forward to season 2.

My new favorite fixer upper show.
secretm-england28 May 2023
This is my new favorite fixer upper show on tv. One episode and I am hooked especially since it has history which is amazing for learning and entertaining to watch. I wish we had more people like Mike, Jen, and Rich who love renovations that have historical significance and aren't the cookie cutter houses we see on tv. I wish more people who fix up homes would stay true to the original design of the home's actual design instead of modernizing them. We need more shows (people) in America heck across the GLOBE renovating home's back to their original state or close to it!! I recommend this show to anyone who loves history and renovation shows!!

Amazing show

Not only education, but entertaining! This crew is fun and joy to watch also. Antique home restorations, history and the designs all in one show is my favorite! My wife and I love watching this show together too. I wish HGTV had more shows like this one. Also it is nice to see them using local artisans, showing how items are made and also recylcing items. The designs are right on point for the period of each house like window restorations, period wainscotting and showing where items came from. There should be more shows like this and less wayfair type shows. The custom antique to period lighting, furniture, accent pieces and more fits right into each design.

Love this show!

This show is right up my alley. I see old homes in my area, decaying and being torn down and it always breaks my heart. I would not live in a new home if someone gave it to me I cannot wait for season two. Their enthusiasm about preservation is great and the history is fascinating. Hopefully more people will do as they do and try to preserve homes in their area and this is kind of like a bucket list show for me. I would work for them for free to be around all that discovery. There are lots of houses in the north east that are old and need saved. So hopefully HG TV will spawn more shows like this, as they did with Fixer Upper.

Bring on the history!
peanut-1823 April 2023
Love this show - I greatly admire their efforts to preserve/restore homes and save them from the wrecking ball. I love the quirkiness of the team members, and I love how they are all so enthusiastic and dedicated to each project. The history tidbits are always fascinating, and I'm always impressed how they manage to modernize the homes while honoring the unique past of each. My heart-felt wish is that this show (and 'Restored' / 'Farmhouse Fixer' / 'Stone House Revival' etc.) also inspires others to preserve our nation's heritage. You just don't see the craftsmanship and quality of these historic homes in modern construction. First rate!

Good and bad
jcain31019 June 2023
While I do appreciate what they are trying to do, I wish this team would seek a little more education about what historic preservation actually is. Please, someone show Jen how to design a historically sensitive kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room. Stop using big box products. No more recessed can lights. No more plastic switches and plate cover. No more bellacro lights. No more builders series hardware, hinges, etc. No more plastic windows.

With just a bit more experience or education or thoughtfulness on how to spend their budget, this team could be creating true masterpieces that should be preserved forever. Right now, at least in season one, it seems like a somewhat low end flipper show.
