An inner city student wrestles his way to success
bobtongue25 March 2011
This is a very well done documentary that follows the life of an inner city student and how wrestling has helped him to become a positive influence for others. George is an athletic student living in the inner city (Springfield, MA) with his mom and siblings. George's father was murdered in a drug deal gone bad and George has had to pick up the role of leadership in the family while pursuing his dream of an athletic scholarship to college. The documentary follows him through some personal times and "speaks" with some of George's friends, but the main theme of the movie is George's quest for a national title in wrestling. Good, thought-provoking look at some of the hardships that inner city students face and one man's quest to overcome them. I saw a screening of this movie at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. It was shown as a gift to the community and was very well received. It was a gripping tale that will leave you wondering not why students fail, but how they succeed. Inspiring.
