Warning: Spoilers
Very interesting, but I have one problem. In the opening sequence with the video of the guy jumping, it says he jumped 11 times. He actually jumps 7 times. And bounces 4. A jump as I understand it has to begin at the feet and propel you up through the legs. That, ironically, made me lose focus throughout the first half of this episode. So I had to find somewhere to write it down. Ha! I feel like this was super obvi.

Perpetuating ADHD Medication Stigma
allnitediner2 December 2021
I love Explained but this episode missed the mark big time. It was never made clear that their harsh criticism of Adderall was regarding its abuse by those who don't need it as treatment for ADHD. They painted a very sad picture of someone taking a friend's medication and becoming addicted to it and then they just...didn't mention how it changes the lives of those who actually need it. I think that's irresponsible, especially considering how much the stigma already affects people, who deal with friends, family, peers, doctors and pharmacists treating them like drug addicts for attempting to treat their disorder.

Adderall confusion
shamulvr12 March 2022
I watched this before work to see how their views on focus could help me with my confidence in my ADHD self, but instead I got a depressing episode describing the risks of adderall abuse without talking about how it is actually used to treat REAL DISORDERS of attention and motivation, at much lower doses than what people abuse it with. In an episode about focus, I felt it hurtful that disorders of attention were completely ignored, and only added to the stigma of needing medication.

Misleading, potentially harmful lack of data.
klarsoncleary26 April 2022
The presentation of information is one sided and highly opinionated. Poor citation of sources and speaker credentials.

Supports fear of medications. And dismisses authentic pharmacological support for those properly diagnosed by medical doctors.

This episode is actually not helpful for anyone deciding if Adderall can help with adhd symptoms.

Does not acknowledge how irresponsible it is for anyone to try another person's prescription medication.
