It's Pankaj's movie all the way. His screen space might be more than 90% in the movie. He delivered justice to this role as if he is born to do this completely and without qualification. The story was quite simple and screenplaying that for almost 2 hours looks a bit stretched and boring. Sayani Gupta's dialogue delivery clearly showed that she was cast mistakenly or maybe, due to the budget issues. A better female cast who could speak Hindi in Bhojpuri accent with eloquence would help the movie. The conversations between Pankaj and Neeraj Kabi in the jungle were avowedly dead on target. The religions, castes, different practices but all melt down into nothingness at the end has been portrayed on screen mindblowingly unless the delicate sentiments of few people get hurt. A good one time watch movie that stresses your patience to discontinue with the slow screenplay but deal with it as the end is quite surprising.

Lovely movie, very light hearted and awesomely presented. Pankaj Tripathi is superb as always. Sayani Gupta performed well. A must watch. Loved it......

This movie could have been made awesome if not for the mediocre to poor direction and writing.

The topic/subject is excellent and very interesting - the reason I watched the movie in the first place.

The actors are good, but when the direction and writing is not good, they can't do much and their true skills and potential is far from realized.

The dialogues at times, are clearly very poorly written.

And it's no wonder - if you look at the Filmography of the Director, he has directed several films till now. If he was really a good one, we would have heard/known atleast one of this previous films.

Bad choices ruined an excellent subject.

Don't believe in boycott gang and watch the movie. Specially for Pankaj Tripathi and Neeraj Kabi. Climax is weird but different. Movie is inspired by true events.

After a long time I saw a good content in Bollywood which is not a remake of any Hollywood or Tollywood movie..the director SRIJIT totally justified the story and made a good cinematic pleasure with great fusion of songs in deep jungle locations enhanced the movie further..minute details and messages in conversations between gangaram and jim were outclass

No words for PANKAJJI a standing ovation for his performance he deserves a national award for this movie even neeraj and sayani were very good

The icing on cake was the CLIMAX which was one of finest, hard ,and naked part of the movie

This Movie is not only a movie, but it is the fact of habitats at the forest borders. Very Naturally performed by Pankaj Tripathi. Actually he was the only actor who could have acted such real reels. I request all the Juries to without hesitation this movie, its crew, director,actors and especially Pankaj Tripathi should be awarded as they deserve it.

To be honest, I gave this a watch only for Pankaj Tripathi, one of my favourite actors. With an equally-strong Neeraj Kabi alongside him, you are sure to be given some awesome performances.

This movie talks about many issues prevalent in the society, with the main message being the true events that occurred in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. As I said before, the performances by our leads and supporting characters were phenomenal. Also, Sayani Gupta I felt nailed her role as well. The writing could have been more crisp and less "preachy" I would say. They could have used subtle symbolisms to convey messages instead of almost preaching about it. Nevertheless this was just a personal gripe and can be ignored, because the messages conveyed are truly important to understand. Otherwise, the subtle doses of humour every now and then were pretty funny. The cinematography was absolutely gorgeous. The non-linear way in which the story is told makes it bit more engaging. The direction by Srijit Mukherjee was quite good. The score and songs was super good, with Saint Kabir's poems forming the inspiration of the lyrics.

This movie might disengage you if you are not connecting with the characters, but it did not happen for me. But I do feel the first half could have been more crisp. The second half was good pacing-wise.

Please do watch this movie to understand the other poorer side of India. A 7/10 from my side!

Must watch movie. Very light hearted and so natural acting by Pankaj. Sayani supported him well too. Loved dialogues, direction. A bit slow in between but overall very good movie.

A tender heart and gullible intentions aside, Srijit Mukherji's "Sherdil" failed to leave a long-lasting impression! Even if its inherent ambitions were innocent; all thanks to an incompetent script and terrible pacing, the same ideas cannot be disseminated in an articulated manner.

Even though they strike up a fair amount of critical discussions pertaining to a variety of socio-political problems but the execution just couldn't keep up with its underneath potency. Thankfully, the technological aspects were all sufficient enough to provide us with adequate quality and substance!

The Cinematography is neatly lit and framed, and the Songs, albeit a bit dispensable to the core narrative, come off fine as well! And as far as performances are concerned; each member of the cast had duly committed themselves to their roles! Amongst them, both Pankaj Tripathi & Neeraj Kabi, as one would expect, excelled at the forefront!

P. S. I took pleasure in the chatters between Gangaram & Jim Ahmed; they were spitting nothing but straight facts!

People are giving more stars just because of Pankaj Triphatiji. He is as usual best in his efforts but even his scenes are so much dragged that it gets boring seeing him slow and dull There is nothing to remember, even u wouldnt remeber it as one of the Pankaj Triphathis great movies!

The movie talks about lot of social subjects rich and poor, watage of food, Human Vs Animal but fails flatly on all the subjects. The screenplay is cocktail of many different things.

Pankaj Bhai, your vision is very very damm good. Your Story Selection your expression too much real. Like in simple language, real life expression reel life expression attitudes performance, can't find any difference. Both are very similar.

I just watched this because of Pankaj Tripathi only. His acting is worth watching even if it's a average movie.

If you are not a fan of Pankaj Tripathi's you may skip this movie. Average movie but you will not get bored. Bit overrated.

No entertainment value - weak story, average dialogues and mediocre acting by everyone except Pankaj. Even Pankaj could do so much with his acting. Waste of time.

What a performance by Tripathi Pankaj in sherdil His simplicity and Subtle humour make the movie so engrossing. Pankaj infuses life in every scene with a straight face to show what a great actor he is.

Some of the shots taken in forest setting along with 5.1 background music simply takes us onto a trip within forest along with Gangaram and Jim.

Music brings many of my favorites together: Gulzar, Kk, Shantanu Moitre and Swanand Kirkire.

Brilliant acting by Pankaj and other supporting characters. A true event published via ott platform, no copy of any other movie like Bollywood doing currently.

It is a well-crafted movie with a good mix of dark humour, political satire, outstanding acting performances and simple story telling.

Do not believe the shockingly low ratings this movie has garnered.

The story shows how largely disconnected the political leaders and bureaucrats are from ordinary citizens.

A village head in a place battered by natural and man-made calamities takes an extreme step to help out the villagers. The story is based on true events.

It is a touching story of innocence that makes us laugh and muse at the irony of events.

Pankaj Tripathi and Sayani Gupta have delivered amazing performances.

Even Pankaj Tripathi was a wrong selection for this role.

The movie is purely based on people living and thriving through poverty, fear, minimum resources and every negative point comes into your mind.

But somehow only one person, the Sarpunch of the village manages to store this much of fat on his body, leaving the fact aside that whole village is dying of hunger and even suiciding.

Also, the role of Lajjo, his wife didn't fit at all, at all. She sounds like some posh women of 38 who goes to gym, takes yoga classes, reads English books and buys Gucci, Dolce. It would be justifying if they'd take the woman from Betaal who played the villager's role.

Overall, OK movie. Giving it 7 rating just because of Pankaj Tripathi of course.

First of all any review >5 for this movie is either paid or fake or both.

I watched it for Pankaj Tripathi. But apart from him, there is no strength in the cast or the storyline. The issues of environment, wildlife, cast etc. Come up but none of them is able to carry with any intensity within the storyline.

The whole movie looks like a bunch of unedited shots jumbled together. Some part of the movie are very boring and drag.

Watch it if you have not anything else to do. However skipping it will be better for your time. All respect for Pankaj Tripathi, but for this one - no this is not done !

Sherdil is a quiet, unpresumptious movie. The backstory when researched allows you to look into a human reality that is absolutely horrifying. It also contradicts the idea that nationalism provokes genuine care for every citizen. Indeed, it exposes the reality that the rhetoric, while amplifying unreasonable and unfounded fears, makes mockery of the ignorance of the majority of voters.

To live in a country where generations of your ancestors have lived and died but you are denied basic human rights or any, is heartbreaking. Yet aliens and superheroes are more fascinating to us. How does an overeducated people be as backward as the so-called backward class? That's why I love South Indian cinema. They expose real problems and propose solutions and\or licks like peas. Sherdil just tells a story that seems silly unless you ask why is this story being told. To be quite honest it is more tasteful than the truth.

Dear all People: I don't mind being a monkey's cousin or a dog's best friend. I have a dog and we love each other. However, when you ask me to appreciate my pet, but the value of human life keeps plummeting on the world stock market, we got a problem. This is another story which questions the foundation of the premise of evolution : The white man's thesis proving his right to world domination. Does this Indian tragedy uphold the tenets presume in this theory? Evolve all we like but do we really have to keep the same old prejudices. Different. Genders have rights, animals have rights, kids got rights ... However, a man whose lineage knows only one nation has never had any. Are we to presume that evolution is a random event? Or can we surmise that the oppressed, by virtue of their oppression, has been left out of this opportunity. Yet others who left India have gained education, wealth and power ...

Not so interesting, very boring only sometimes Pankaj Tripathi tickle you with his unique dialogues.. That's it. 5 for Pankaj and 0 for all casting. 80% of movie just surrounding camera angle..

What a movie! There are so many messages in the movie, some expressed overtly and some in a subtle manner. A solid script, great performances and fine actors with their spark of brilliance. It is truly one of the most amazing movies released in recent times.

Pankaj Tripathi is as usual outstanding!

Award winning story More such films should be made instead of remakes Bollywood should stop remakes and they should work on original stories like this Happy to watch.

Why to portray village folks as idiots? A person living near jungle is shown with zero knowledge of wildlife. Unnecessary philosophical arguments. Total disaster.

Poor acting by everyone but the lead role. Lead role is entangled with incoherent dialogues and out of context acting.

This movie shows the obvious shallowness of bollywood, where no one does any research. They can kill original ideas with poor implementation.

Netflix need to invest in right projects and people. Just having one good actor doesn't cut any ice. I am also amazed by Pankaj Tripathi's recent selection of projects, which are produced and directed by strange people.
