BEAST IN THE BASEMENT is an unacknowledged remake of the 1970 British horror flick BEAST IN THE CELLAR, made without an ounce of that film's atmosphere or, indeed, budget. The story is about a pair of kooky sisters who keep their crazed brother locked in the basement, only for him to escape and wreak havoc. This indie feature by Scots director Robbie Moffat is an endurance test to sit through, featuring below-par acting throughout and insipid direction

An interesting new adaption of a forgotten cult horror

'Beast in the Basement' is definitely a step in the right direction for Mr. Moffat and his associates at Palm Tree. Two sister imprison their Younger brother in the cellar, some years later when a series of Murders at a local army base shake the local community, how long will it take for the twisted sisters to face up to the awful truth. This Production manages to keep you involved by virtue a clever plot device (Which I will not reveal). Low-Budget of course it is, but it has a certain merit. A rye and knowing performance from Marnie Baxter (Iris) Had me chuckling away in my cinema seat. Clever use of locations. In True Palm Tree tradition it's completely bonkers in places, I think young people might call it random but perhaps that's part of the charm.
