I heard terrible things about the episode before I watched this, but I watched it anyway because the reviews weren't that low. Now I know why people hate this episode. None of the gags are funny, Peter is obnoxiously bad. This was far into the decline of Family Guy which Started in Season 6-7. Also Peter telling his children he hates being around them adds salt to the open wound. But that's ok, because they have an Xbox 360 now, so they should forget that their dad hates being around them.

For shame, Peter. For shame.

Warning: Spoilers
Family Guy is one the best cartoons ever made and also one of my favorites. But they are some episodes that we all find dull and infamous. One of the episodes is called "April in Quahog". The episode starts off when a black hole was about to devour the world, everyone in Quahog started freaking out, including the Griffin family. Peter, on the other hand, becomes a selfish, low-life, dirtbag when he seems like he doesn't care about anything and anyone but himself, then here's the thing that Peter straight up crossed the line, he told Lois that he hated being around Chris, Stewie, and Meg and the black hole thing was nothing but an April Fools prank. So Chris, Stewie, and Meg stopped forgiving Peter (Serves him right though) and Peter tried to win their love back. And the only thing to win their love back....is getting an Xbox for them. Chris, Stewie, and Meg forgave Peter and at the end of the episode, Peter was playing the Xbox which means he still cares about himself. Peter did some unforgivable junk a lot in the episode, none of the humor isn't even that good and the writing is dumb also. Family Guy still may be one of the greatest shows, but they are some pretty lame episodes for us to find. This episode is bad...just bad. Give this one a 3.1/10

This episode ruined Peter's character

Warning: Spoilers
Fun fact: This is my 50th review on IMDb.

Anyway, in this episode, the Quahog Channel 5 News makes an April Fools prank that the world is gonna end. So Peter does a bunch of stuff before the time runs up.

And when the last 10 seconds are left, Peter literally says: "I just hate being around the kids. Sorry thought I'd just be honest since we're gonna die." So Peter is implying that he hates his own children all these years? That's horrible!

Understandably, everyone is mad at Peter for saying that. So Peter tries to apologize and fails. And it's not even funny. He asks Meg if she's on her period which even she's surprised he asked that. Next he tries to have him and Chris do crystal meth and ends up ripping his eye out. And for Stewie he's still on crystal meth and just jumps through the ceiling.

And how does this episode end you ask? Peter buys everyone an Xbox, and apparently everyone forgives him even though he said he hates being around the kids. This episode is just a mess. Peter is flanderized, it's not funny, it's not even sweet, and it's not even interesting. Do not watch this episode. Just stick with the old Family Guy, because the show really has changed at this point.

Not One Funny Joke
keithotisedwards7 May 2024
Imagine that you and your friends somehow got a copy of the script for "April in Quahog," and began reading it with each of you taking a part. Would you laugh at any of the jokes? If you picked up a phone and pretended to call Meghan Fox and threaten her, but nothing related to that then happens, would you all burst into laughter?

The main story of the world improbably coming to an end doesn't really go anywhere, and in itself isn't at all funny. Writer John Viener is credited with writing this mess, but it seems more like a collage of random scenes that make no sense, let alone being funny.

I see that in 2023, someone left a 10/10 rave review of this episode with a detailed description of the script. If you've read it, did anything it lists seem hilarious? "Quagmire and Cleveland went out to dinner"? Does that seem like a wacky premise?

It seems like, more than any other show, Family Guy has extremes of quality. When the writer is inspired, the cast is at their best, and the result is something that you'll remember with a smile, and it's why you'll tune in to watch the show after that. But when the writer turns in a half-finished script, and the other writers try and patch it up under a deadline, the result is "April in Quahog."
