Claudia was truly drug into a messy, toxic relationship that would eventually be her undoing.
On the precipice of human death, she thought an angel had come to save her, but instead, it was Louis de Pointe du Lac, besieged with guilt, trying to save a piece of himself by gifting a dying girl with eternal life.
But Claudia was not destined for eternal life, as Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 7 walked us through the vampire trial of the century, which was meant to end in no other way but with Claudia's demise.
All roads were always leading to this hour, and whether or not you've read the novels or seen the movies, there was a Claudia-sized hole in the present and an overwhelming sadness permeating her entire existence, as told by present-day Louis.
We've witnessed Claudia's tragic story since we met her, and all tragedies must eventually reach their inevitable conclusion.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 7, “I Could Not Prevent It.” It also contains discussion of domestic violence.] Devastation is the only word to describe Interview With the Vampire Season 2’s penultimate episode. Season 2 Episode 7, an episode book fans have long dreaded and one that any viewer won’t soon forget, saw the Théâtre des Vampires’ horrific show trial play out to its deadly conclusion. The verdict was always rigged, that much was clear, but the very much alive Lestat (Sam Reid) — who was supposedly there to get “justice for the attempted murder of [his] being” — went off script several times to make sure that his and Louis’ “story of love, not butchery” was told. As Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Armand (Assad Zaman) recalled to Daniel (Eric Bogosian) in Dubai, new master Santiago (Ben Daniels) and the coven summoned Lestat to Paris to participate in the show that was clearly rehearsed in ...

If there's one thing to know while indulging in the phenomenon that is Interview with the Vampire, things are often not as they seem.
This hour detailed the events leading up to the trial, which those who've read the novels will remember quite well.
All roads were meant to converge at this exact intersection, so while the closing moments were less than surprising, this was another standout hour in a series full of them.
After reliving the events in San Francisco, there was an unmistakable chill in that great Dubai penthouse, with Louis and Armand as far apart as we've ever seen them.
And I mean that literally, as the two men sat on opposite chairs, a direct contrast to the united front they displayed when they first sat down together to rehash the memories of their past to a man who played an important role in it.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 6 “Like the Light by Which God Made the World Before He Made Light.” It also contains discussion of suicide.] Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 6 delivered one of the series’ most enthralling romantic moments juxtaposed by one of its greatest tragedies, setting the stage for what Jacob Anderson tells TV Insider is “a brutal hour of television” in next week’s penultimate episode of the season. After Armand (Assad Zaman) feared “mutiny brewing” among the Théâtre des Vampires in Paris in Episode 4, Episode 6 revealed in its final moments that he secretly made a plan to save himself from their wrath by selling out Louis (Anderson), Claudia (Delainey Hayles), and her new companion Madeleine (Roxane Duran). After kissing Louis on the cheek while on a double date with Claudia and Madeleine, whom Louis turned into a vampire with Claudia’s help earlier in the episode, Armand stood ...

Since good folks way back in the day began finding dug-out graves with missing bodies and encountering people with photophobia, the tales of vampires have been ever-present in our civilization. Even today, when we don’t believe in monsters anymore, those bloodsucking parasites found a cheeky way to stay a major part of our culture: by becoming more modern, sleek, and dangerous than ever.
World of Darkness Made Vampires Great Again
While a relatively niche franchise, it was World of Darkness that largely rebooted our vision of vampires thanks to its “subdivision,” Vampire: the Masquerade. VtM brings together everything we’ve learned (made up) about those nocturnal creatures throughout the centuries and frames it in a nice and scary concept: the bloodsuckers are ancient, immensely powerful, and still very much present.
In VtM, vampires rule the night and have human cities as their domains, pulling the strings of mortal affairs as they please.

Tom Cruise’s Interview With The Vampire Role Was Offered To Another Actor ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Tom Cruise is arguably one of the biggest action movie stars in the world. Before being cast in the world-renowned franchise Mission Impossible, he had led highly successful films, including “Top Gun” and “Born on the Fourth of July.”
Starring in movies like “Rain Man” and the 1996 hit film “Interview With The Vampire” proved the action star could also shine as a dramatic actor. But director Neil Jordan revealed Tom Cruise wasn’t the first choice to play Lesat. The movie was adapted from Anne Rice’s original book of the same name.
In an excerpt from his new memoir, published in The Telegraph, Jordan reflected on his decision to cast Tom Cruise opposite Brad Pitt, revealing he originally offered the role to Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 5, “Don’t Be Afraid, Just Start the Tape.”] Eric Bogosian and Luke Brandon Field‘s casting as Interview With the Vampire‘s Daniel Molloys is ridiculously good. The actors are not only spitting images of each other despite being of no relation, but they also are two artists cut from the same cloth. Field, who delivered a stunning performance in the show’s exemplary San Francisco interview episode in Season 2 Episode 5, tells TV Insider that he and Bogosian unknowingly were inspired by the same person when creating their Daniels. “I should probably do that paternity test. It’s strange, you know,” Field teases of their similar mugs. As showrunner Rolin Jones tells us, Bogosian himself helped pick Field when casting for Season 1. (Bogosian is equally top-notch in the episode as he worked with Jacob Anderson‘s Louis to retrieve their missing memories of San Francisco.) “When we...

Exclusive: Emma Roberts (American Horror Story) is set to reteam with Stampede Ventures on Fourth Wall, a thriller that Alexis Ostrander (Servant) is directing from a script by Jerry Kontogiorgis, in her feature debut.
The project is Roberts’ second with the global media company on the heels of Space Cadet, a rom-com for Amazon MGM Studios, which will premiere globally on Prime Video this Fourth of July.
The film centers on a former child star (Roberts) from a popular ’90s television show who is kidnapped and wakes up in a complete recreation of the show’s set with the rest of the cast. As she’s forced to re-immerse herself in the iconic role she’s been trying to get away from her entire career, she must recreate the series’ most memorable moments to stay alive.

Was that the best hour of the series since the Interview with the Vampire Season 1 Episode 1?
It very well may have been, as the foray back to 1970s San Francisco unlocked some core memories for Louis and Daniel that could change everything for them.
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 5 was a game-changer in many ways.
It set us up for the final few hours of the series, which are poised to be crushing and invigorating.
Daniel’s been battling with faint memories from his time with Louis and Armand in San Francisco for some time, never quite able to fully tap into what they meant and the circumstances behind them.
And he’s been reluctant to broach the topic, but listening to his recordings from that evening spurred him into action, especially when he had the opportunity to get Louis alone.
Daniel’s always been in a unique position.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 5, “Don’t Be Afraid, Just Start the Tape.” It also contains discussion of suicide and domestic violence.] Interview With the Vampire has revealed its version of the San Francisco interview. Louis and Daniel’s 1973 meeting serves as the setting for Anne Rice‘s original novel, but the AMC series changed the premise by setting its main interview in Dubai in 2022, 49 years after the first try went awry. Eric Bogosian‘s Daniel Molloy has been experiencing memory flashes to that fateful encounter throughout Season 2, and they have made him distrust Armand (Assad Zaman) more and more. But it’s what he and Louis (Jacob Anderson) didn’t remember that are the most revealing and tragic developments. TV Insider connected with the stars and creator of the episode, the first one filmed for Season 2, to discuss how it was made and how it changes the course of the season.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 4, “I Want You More Than Anything in the World.”] Claudia and Louis have reached a point of no return in Interview With the Vampire Season 2. Delainey Hayles tells TV Insider that “trust is gone” between them after Claudia learned Louis (Jacob Anderson) concealed Armand’s (Assad Zaman) knowledge of their history with Lestat (Sam Reid) from her in Season 2 Episode 4, “I Want You More Than Anything in the World.” This led to a blowout fight between the father-daughter duo, during which Hayles says Claudia was still trying to take care of Louis despite her “seeing red” because of him. Armand threatened Claudia for spending time with the human Madeleine (the alluring Roxane Duran) and away from the theater in the episode, which aired Sunday, June 2 on AMC. Given her murderous history, does Claudia now want to kill Armand? “I think she wants to kill Louis first,” Hayles...

The first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released yesterday and...well, it was quite something. It's a Venom movie, alright, and while it looks like an "epic" conclusion to the trilogy, there are signs of the same old problems.
Sony Pictures has never quite managed to grasp this character, but Venom was a hit in 2018 and Venom: Let There Be Carnage also performed well despite being released in the final months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
That's given the studio a false sense of confidence and a belief that, no matter what fans and critics say, the goofy direction they've taken this franchise in is the right one. A year and a half ago, AMC — the network that brought us Mad Men and Breaking Bad — debuted a new adaptation of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire. While fans of the Neil Jordan movie and blind casting haters panned the show, the press and real viewers raved about the unexpected hit.
In the show, the immortal vampire recounts his tragic biography to a journalist, sharing his memories of becoming a bloodsucker and his relationship with a close friend. Finding the coven in Paris should have been a positive experience for Claudia, who'd longed to find others like her in a world of mortals.
But Parisian coven life was far from rainbows and butterflies.
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 4 saw her slowly disillusioned with her new role at the theater, pushing her further away from them and toward a mortal with whom she found a connection.
It's been a fascinating and overwhelming sad affair thus far for Claudia, played this season by Delainey Hayles, who's a revelation as the intelligent and deliciously complex vampire.

The best Dream-stat scenes of the season came in Episode 4 when Louis is alone with his thoughts. Whether it is a minor thing like hanging upside down to get his make-up done in Interview with the Vampire or jumping off a cliff multiple times to shoot one of the biggest stunts in cinema’s history, Cruise can do it all no matter how challenging or deadly it might be.
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible | Paramount Pictures
Yet, when it comes to keeping his co-stars safe and secure, the actor is just as caring as he is about getting his stunts done right to the tee. In an interview, his Rock of Ages co-star Julianne Hough revealed how Cruise took care of her during her injury on set.

[Warning: The following post contains discussions of sexual assault.] Delainey Hayles‘ Claudia revealed harrowing details about her time away from Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Lestat (Sam Reid) in Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 3, “No Pain.” In “No Pain,” Claudia briefly reveals dark truths about what she endured while held captive by the vampire Bruce (Damon Daunno) years prior. She and Louis have been telling the coven that Bruce was their maker, not Lestat, and that he killed himself in front of them, prompting their journey to Europe to find more bloodsuckers. She revealed physical attributes that only she could know to Louis to help keep their story straight, and she eventually detailed the more horrific abuse she suffered at the vampire’s hands. Hayles tells TV Insider that this is Claudia desperately seeking connection with Louis. “She is in a way begging him to ask her more about herself because he never really does that,” she says. While...

This article contains spoilers for Interview with the Vampire episode 3 and Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles novels.
Interview with the Vampire episode 3 “No Pain” codifies the Parisian theatrical troupe with signs of sanguinarian cult devotion, and promises of dire consequences. The closing sequence features the ceremony inducting Claudia (Delainey Hayles) into the repertory players of Théâtre des Vampires. It is a giddy moment, for cast members only, and a celebration of the remorselessly debauched comedy made of the lesser creatures in the audience on a nightly basis.
However, there is a serious side to the randomly violent performance arts which is more about occult knowledge than studying acting methods for realistic portrayals. The induction ritual peaks as lead actor Santiago (Ben Daniels) fixes Claudia with the highest drama of theatrical delivery to impart The Great Laws of the Vampire.
“Law One,” Santiago recites. “Each coven must have its leader, and...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 3, “No Pain.”] No one can stop talking about the vampire Lestat. The portrayal of Sam Reid‘s French vampire has been entirely controlled by Louis’ (Jacob Anderson) answers in his interview with Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) and Claudia’s (Delainey Hayles) journals in Seasons 1 and 2. But a new narrator gives their take on him in Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 3, “No Pain,” and Armand’s (Assad Zaman) memory of Lestat is notably different. “No Pain” is the brief first adaptation of Anne Rice‘s The Vampire Lestat, the sequel novel to 1976’s Interview With the Vampire that provides Lestat’s backstory and his version of the events of the first book. That origin story is told in short form in “No Pain,” but should the series be renewed for Season 3, showrunner Rolin Jones assures more of this story will be explored. Armand tells Daniel the story ...

Armand and Louis had much more in common than even I realized when they stumbled upon each other in Paris.
They'd both been under the love spell of one Lestat de Lioncourt.
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 3 continued the deep dive into Louis and Claudia's life in Paris and went further back in time to see Lestat's beginnings at the Théâtre des Vampires.
Lestat and Armand's past was known, as Armand never hid the fact that they'd once been intimate. But he may have downplayed just how serious things had been before them for a time.
From Interview with the Vampire Season 1, we know that Lestat is charming, enigmatic, and manipulative by nature.
To know him, truly know him, well, there might not be a single person who can lay steady claim to that.
Seeing where Armand came from to where we see him in Dubai was shocking,...

This article contains spoilers for Interview with the Vampire episode 3 and Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles novels.
AMC’s Interview with the Vampire episode 3 “No Pain” introduces a character from a future book in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. In the opening scene, Daniel Molloy’s (Eric Bogosian) ongoing study of the undead is intercepted by “a live one.” The stranger implies knowledge of dubious doings behind the scenes in the insular vampire world. The long-form journalist wonders who this interloper is, and even scribbles “MI6?” on his notepad. He’s not that far off. Raglan James (Justin Kirk) certainly does belong to a secret organization, but he could also be anyone.
Anne Rice lets the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) tell the story of Raglan James, the title character of The Tale of the Body Thief, the fourth book in The Vampire Chronicles. It begins in Miami, a “city of water,...

A spasmodic love triangle spanning centuries or maybe even a polyamorous tryst acknowledged in silence. How does it feel, as fans of this daringly intense show, to be the only few who’d ever understand what I’ve just said, and how something like that could exist? It’s an odd privilege for us—not for Daniel, mind you—to hear this unreliable tale from the mouths of poetic undead orators. In Interview With the Vampire episode 3, the story has reached the point where Armand’s efforts to make himself appear benign are evident. And I hope Daniel’s paying attention.
Spoiler Alert
How did Armand and Lestat meet?
So, I guess everyone everywhere, at some point in their life, has been in love with Lestat de Lioncourt? From what Armand describes of his 15th-century existence, it seems the real gift of vampirism had eluded him before Lestat walked into Paris.

“It got me. I was extremely emotional. I was definitely crying,” admits award-winning actress Vanessa Hudgens while discussing her “The Masked Singer” win as Goldfish. “It ended meaning so much more to me than a normal win would because it had nothing to do with the celebrity of me or the idea of me. It had everything to do with what I on the inside bring to the table and my talents. It ended up definitely meaning the world.”
The actress says she worked closely with her producer while choosing songs throughout the season. “I didn’t go into this trying to hide who I was,” she reveals. “I was kind of being really cheeky about the musical choices. ‘Vampire’ was by Olivia Rodrigo, who plays Gabriella in the new ‘High School Musical.’ I thought that was hilarious, and just a great song. Clarkson performed “Bad Idea Right?” with My Band Y’all and two backing vocalists who built out the layered harmonies across the song. The singer bolstered her performance with a few acrobatic vocal runs, but...

AMC appears to be "all in" when it comes to bringing Anne Rice's work to television. Fans of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire might have found themselves wondering why the key role of Claudia (played by Bailey Bass) was recast with another actor.
Interview with the Vampire on AMC is considered by many to be a very faithful adaptation of Anne Rice’s classic 1976 novel The Vampire Chronicles. And unlike the Interview with the Vampire movie from 1994, the series leans further into the queer themes that were present in the source material.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 1, “What Can the Damned Really Say to the Damned.”] Interview With the Vampire Season 2 is worlds different from what we saw in New Orleans both figuratively and literally. Our vampire family is far from home in the long-awaited season premiere, which began with a four-year time jump that landed Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia (Bailey Bass) in war-torn Europe during World War II. Their “four years of grim wayfaring,” as Louis’ guilt-induced hallucination of Lestat (Sam Reid) said, were done in the hopes of finding more of their kind. Romania was the latest leg of their search, and it was in this bleak land that they finally found what they were looking for. Sadly for the desperately lonely duo, meeting the old world vampires didn’t go as well as they had hoped. They met two vampires unlike anything ever seen in the series, and they put...

AMC masterfully transposes Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire from unique literary expression to a cinematic episodic television experience. As series creator and executive producer Rolin Jones told an enthusiastic crowd at an advance screening at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan, these are two different art forms, with their own artistic needs and devotees. Changes are necessary for the proper telling, and the contemporary audience at large.
Claudia is five years old in the 1976 book. Her age is the very heart of the story because Anne Rice wrote the novel while mourning the death of her daughter, Michele. Modern sensitivities resist the tortured distinction, and the network provides respectful distance. The series’ acting part is even updated, with Delainey Hayles taking the young vampire role originally portrayed by Bailey Bass. There are several alterations in the adaptation...
