Quotes

  • Clark Kent : Lois, I've been trying to hold onto things that used to protect me. This farm, my parents. I've known we should be moving to Metropolis for a while now. I guess I was afraid that I'd lose myself if I let it all go.

Lois Lane : Clark, I would never let that happen.

Clark Kent : I've been worried that if we didn't have this place to come home to, that we'd lose each other. This place grounds us. Maybe that was just an excuse for me not to, not to move on. It's not the place that makes the home.

Lois Lane : Smallville is my home, Clark. Not this one, this Smallville, right here. You're all I'll ever need. And if you need to move to Metropolis because that's who the world needs you to be, then a studio apartment with rusty pipes is just fine for me. In fact, I think they invented an apple-pie air freshener.

  • Lois Lane : You want to help me out here?

Clark Luthor : You're kinda cute when you squirm.

    Lois Lane : Okay, bonus.

  • Lois Lane : Admittedly I'm no Martha Kent, so instead of lemonade, you get the finest micro-brew in Kansas.

  • Lois Lane : Clark, it seems like... something happened on the other side that really shook you up. What happened?

Clark Kent : Nothing. I was just trying to... find my way back home.

Lois Lane : Not a bad home to come back to.

  • Clark Kent : You know I didn't call that realtor.

Lois Lane : [snickering]  I know. Who could have guessed that when a deed switches hands that the ambulance chasers - well, the for sale sign chasers - show up on your doorstep unannounced?

  • Lois Lane : Your dad's jacket. I've never seen you wear that before.

Clark Kent : Yeah, it's just a jacket.

Lois Lane : Kind of, but everything around here has memories attached to the place.

Clark Kent : I don't need things to remind me of what I've had here.

  • Lois Lane : [repairing the mirror box]  Clark thought he destroyed that months ago. He is not gonna like the fact that you and Tess snagged this from behind his back.

Dr. Emil Hamilton : Yeah, well, maybe he'll feel different when it saves his life.

    Lois Lane : Okay.

[Emil turns on a high-energy laser, but nothing happens; dismayed, he turns it off]

Lois Lane : Is it drafty in here? 'Cause I feel a little cold. Clammy, really.

Dr. Emil Hamilton : Lois, we're gonna get him back.

  • Lois Lane : The farm is the closest to a home that I've ever known. And when Marge showed up today, I felt... afraid that if we lost that, if I lost that home, then... I would never find another one.

Clark Luthor : That'll never happen. That's why we're together.

Lois Lane : [hugging him and sighing in relief]  That's why I found the rental pages. If you want to sell the farm, we'll make a new start.

Clark Luthor : It's really hard to imagine a new life together with such a threat still out there.

    Lois Lane : Which threat?

Clark Luthor : Lionel Luthor. And if he's truly walking around on this Earth...

Lois Lane : I understand what this is about. If you stop showing up for dinner, I will know where you are. You're hooked on our Lionel cam, aren't you?

Clark Luthor : That's right. And, you know, searching for Lionel alone doesn't sound like much fun. So why don't you come with me and we can go over there right now?

Lois Lane : Oh, Clark Kent is... frisky. I like it.

  • Lois Lane : If you want to get your hands on Lionel's GPS system, you're gonna have to ask Tess. She's the one with all her claws in daddy dearest.

Clark Luthor : I called her. She didn't answer.

Lois Lane : She's taking bids at the mansion, or what's left of it.

Clark Luthor : Well, I should go. Be a hero and everything.

Lois Lane : Well, yeah, but, b-but before you go, just have a look at the place. I know the view's not that nice, but I thought we could bring a little bit of Smallville with us wherever we go. So?

Clark Luthor : I think I'm gonna like it here. But first, we need to get rid of this stargazer's junk.

[she gets suspicious when he pushes the telescope over]

Lois Lane : [hearing sirens outside]  Clark? Aren't you gonna go? The sirens; someone could need you.

Clark Luthor : Yeah. I'll see you later.

Lois Lane : [as he whooshes away, she takes out her cell phone]  Oh, my god. Come on, Tess. Damn it. Answer your phone.

  • Lois Lane : Thanks for coming. After I left three messages, I got the feeling you might be mad. I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that the realtor you sent over to the house told you I was a psycho? She said I totally freaked out, didn't she?

[Clark tries to cover his tells]

Lois Lane : That bad? Okay, look, I was mad that you made the decision to sell without me, but it is your house, really. And... anyway, when I saw the realtor, I realized that I was about to lose something that was really important to me. I never had a permanent home growing up, and I remember living there with your folks, even though I thought you were a total dork at the time.

  • Clark Kent : Lois, put the rock away.

Lois Lane : I wish that killing you with this rock could even begin to cause you as much pain as you've caused me. But I guess that's the price of having a heart; it can get broken.

Clark Kent : I'm not him. He sent me from my world. Please, Lois, you have to believe me. I was the one on the roof, and I'm the only one who knows that I told you I couldn't live in a world...

Lois Lane : Where I didn't love you.

  • Lois Lane : You have to get out of here. Everyone knows who you are.

Clark Kent : He took the mirror box with him, Lois. It's not here. I have to get back and stop him.

Lois Lane : Everyone in the city is carrying meteor rock with them. That's why Ultraman killed Oliver. He told them that those rocks would protect them from you. Him.

Clark Kent : The whole city?

Lois Lane : You can't get ten feet without it hitting you from every side.

Clark Kent : [watching Jonathan getting ushered out]  I just have to check on something first.

Lois Lane : You need to go, now. I'll try to throw them off your trail.

Clark Kent : Thank you. You're putting a lot of trust in me. You know that.

Lois Lane : Something tells me that I can, I guess.

  • Marge Manners : Oh, just as quaint on the inside. A turn-key, I hope.

Lois Lane : Uh, who, what, when, and why?

Marge Manners : [offering a business card]  Oh, Manners. Marge Manners. Smallville Real Estate. We may be small, but we sell big. Now, you live here with?

    Lois Lane : Soon-to-be.

Marge Manners : Is he here?

Lois Lane : No, he had an emergency in...

    [covering]

Lois Lane : ...the fields this morning. Big, something important.

Marge Manners : A fireplace, how charming. Is it original to the house?

Lois Lane : Oh, if you mean "old as hell", yes. And it has the soot buildup to prove it. I mean, this thing smokes like the dickens.

Marge Manners : [heading upstairs]  I see. Well, if you don't mind, I'd like to take a look at the rest of the house on my own.

Lois Lane : Oh, just be careful of the last step. It's a suicide ride. I mean, we can't get it to nail into place to save our lives, literally.

    [under her breath]

Lois Lane : Clark Kent, if I wasn't late, I would kick your bulletproof ass right now.

  • Clark Kent : [whooshing in with food as Lois dozes off at work]  How was your day?

Lois Lane : It depends. What day is it?

  • Lois Lane : I don't know if I should be going for this promotion.

Clark Kent : Lois, your heart is in journalism. And you have a future in it. I know. I've seen it.

Lois Lane : I haven't seen you since breakfast yesterday.

Clark Kent : Well, I'm planning to see you for a few moments at the altar.

Lois Lane : Oh, come on. It's not that bad. I still live at the farm. I have a toothbrush to prove it.

Clark Kent : You haven't been home five nights this week.

Lois Lane : And someone wants to forget that the two nights that I was home, he was off cavorting around in Bangkok.

Clark Kent : They had floods.

  • Lois Lane : Something interesting?

Clark Kent : Yeah. It's from my mom. She says that Conner is doing great in Washington, D.C., and she's sending us an early wedding gift.

    Lois Lane : Ooh.

Clark Kent : [she walks around the desk to look over his shoulder]  It's the deed to the farm.

Lois Lane : Oh, for our wedding. Well, that's so...

    Clark Kent : So?

    Lois Lane : Thoughtful.

Clark Kent : Thoughtful? Yeah, um, she must want us to...

Lois Lane : Yeah, start our new married life... there.

Clark Kent : Maybe. Or, with all the commuting to Metropolis and Bangkok... maybe she thinks we should sell it.
