Dirty Jobs meets How Its Made
zoshchenko28 June 2022
I just came across this on Story TV which seems to be 100% recycled History Channel type stuff. I do not remember it all from when it first came on. Anyway I do not find it as awful as the other reviewers, but it is pretty clear why they only made 11 episodes. I do like watching the guy use different tools to cut things up but in the end I am not sure why he had to destroy these items to find out what he did... especially when he cut up a bar with a chainsaw to get at a couple of beer taps.

Not So Good
Ethereal-Cloud25 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
First there was 'How It's Made' (there have been other spin-off shows), then there was a show called 'Deconstructed'. The former is a fascinating series about how everyday things you use, or at least see, are made. The latter is the reverse, a tech. carefully deconstructs an item to show the viewer how it works.

Enter: SLICED, In a nut-shell you have the host (John Mc Calmont) hamming it up bigtime for the TV camera. There's really no educational value to his antics like cutting a stove in half with a 16 inch gas circular saw and sledge hammer, ripping out a heating element and saying "well look at this"(I hope that wasn't a 'spoiler'). If you find monster truck rallies and demolition derby's a good way to spend your free time this show is for you, otherwise, don't waste 30 minutes of your precious time.

A Look At The New History Channel: All Big Bucks And No History
rreeyore25 June 2010
This is what the History Channel has come to. They are so jealous of the Discovery Channel that they are putting anything on to get money and ratings. This is a pretty stupid show that has no historical value whatsoever. All that happens is this stupid man slices things open just to see what's inside. Think of how much money is being wasted slicing some of those expensive items. From what I have seen, it doesn't even belong on the history channel. If any thing else, the show is an advertisement for the different power tools used. And the host, John McCalmont, Is just lighting himself up for the spotlight. Who cares how a honey bun falls from a vending machine.

I feel sorry for John McCalmont....

Yes, I feel very sorry for Johm McCalmont.... I have to say this is the dumbest show I have ever seen on TV ! And one could wonder how he manages to sell that to the History Channel. Really uninteresting, who care about slicing a car and see what's inside !? Just open the door and you will get the same answer ! Very disappointing. When you see what it may takes for most of us to save enough money to buy a decent second hand car, and this gentleman can offer to slice it in two or several pieces ! And the worst of all being that he seems to enjoy doing that. I would be interested to find out how the History Channel was willing to pay him for each episode. If you have nothing to do and do not really care about learning something, then sit on your sofa and watch that show !
