Jonathan, trying to write a story to submit to the New Yorker, receives a call from Leah, who wants to come to see him. He is surprised, but his apartment is a mess. Leah wants Jonathan to help her find the dog she got for the children, Little Ray. It appears the dog was stolen because someone called her demanding two hundred dollars if she wants her dog back. As Jonathan stares at Leah, they almost kiss, but Leah, regaining her posture, goes away in a huff.
Roy has been dating the elfish girl he met at the comics store. He has gone with her riding in the two-seater bike. They reach the Red Hook area where "On the Waterfront" was shot. When he speaks the famous lines about 'could have been a contender', the girl, who is clueless, only smiles. Jonathan meets Ray and tells him about Leah's dog problem. He also shares his experience about almost kissing Leah.
Jonathan goes to the Maritime Hotel to meet George before the operation. Dr. Kenwood has obviously spent the night at the hotel. George wanted to make sure to have his last erection with her because his operation might render him impotent. Packing for the overnight stay at the hospital presents a problem because George is confused as to what to bring.
At his room at the hospital, George is a bit nervous. An orderly comes in the room, calling him Mr. Christensen, something that confuses him. She tells George she will come back to shave his "pubic zone", something he was not counting on. After the job is done, Priscilla, his former wife appears. She jumps in bed with him for perhaps the last chance for George to have an erection. Dr. Kenwood surprises them; she is clearly mortified.
Jonathan, left alone in the room, after George is taken to the O.R., becomes fidgety by himself. He makes an important discovery. The folder with his clinical record shows a different name in the forms. It becomes clear there has been a mistake. Jonathan runs out of the room in a panic, trying to stop the unnecessary operation. As he gets into the room where George is being prepared, he blurts that George does not live in Queens.
Ray and Jonathan get lucky when a call is received from a lady that has information about the missing dog. She has received an offer from a small time crook that wanted to sell her a dog for forty dollars. She is sure this is the man they are looking for. Ray and Jonathan go to the back of a building where they find a lot of dogs behind a fence. They spy a man coming to feed the animals with cat food. Later on, Ray cuts the padlock and rescue, not only Little Ray, but all of the dogs that have probably disappeared from the area. As Ray goes to Leah's she and the kids are just coming home, but she clearly shows she is glad to see Ray.
