Meeting Santa in a mall is a rite of passage for many children, but for some, it could be nerve-wracking. The experience of meeting Saint Nick creeped out one toddler so much he used sign language to call his mother for help, making for one hilarious holiday photo.

Meghan Trainor has a very special trainer of her own! The almost 24-year-old pop star spoke to Et’s Keltie Knight at a press event for her new show The Four: Battle for Stardom on Thursday where she opened up about her new reality competition series and how her boyfriend, Daryl Sabara, has changed her outlook on health and fitness.
“I was really excited because it’s brand new and it’s not what you've seen before,” Trainor said of the Fox show. “It’s very fresh and the reward is so amazing -- how they actually give you an opportunity to work with people in the music industry and to have a chance to be heard on the radio -- that’s just a no brainer for me.”
And as she gears up for new music and her new series, Trainor is also in the best shape of her life, thanks to Sabara...

Jimmy Fallon has yet to fully recover from playing with Donald Trump’s hair last year. Though his ratings are down and his reputation has taken a hit, the “Tonight Show” host is still confident in his approach — in part because political humor simply isn’t his forte. “It’s just not what I do. I think it’d be weird for me to start doing it now,” he told “Today.”

“I don’t really even care that much about politics. I gotta be honest. I love pop culture more than I love politics. I’m just not that brain,” Fallon continued. Part of his reasoning has to do with the fact that Fallon believes other late-night hosts are better equipped to grapple with politics: “I think the other guys are doing it very well. Colbert’s doing great.

On Sept. 8, an interpreter for the deaf signed a variety of unrelated words while trying to translate a Hurricane Irma evacuation message to hearing impaired residents of Manatee County, Florida.
County leaders told Wfla they were “in a pinch” and needed to find a sign language interpreter fast, so they turned to Marshall Greene, a lifeguard for the county’s marine rescue unit, who had a deaf older brother.
But instead of conveying the appropriate message, Greene signed incoherent nonsense like, “Help you at that time too use bear big,” according to the Bradenton Herald.

A lot of general audiences may not know a lot about Inhumans — hell, my own knowledge of Inhumans is relatively limited — but if you’ve been following the upcoming ABC’s series progress, chances are you’re aware of Black Bolt’s inability to speak. Unfortunately, ol’ Bolty’s been cursed with the worst superpower ever: his voice has the ability to level entire cities.
While this particular superpower may be useful when your foe is in outer space, or on a planet or city full of no inhabitants, wildlife, or buildings, it’s not so great when in the middle of a city or kingdom of your own people. As such, Black Bolt has to largely remain silent in the series. This creates its own set of issues in terms of the actor’s ability to convey emotion, but it also makes communicating in general a tricky ordeal.

Findings suggest exhibitors are not meeting demand from deaf audiences.
New research suggests that UK cinemas are failing to cater adequately for deaf audiences.
The report, produced by the Independent Cinema Office, reveals that less than 10% of deaf people surveyed consider their cinema provision as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’, with 67% of respondents citing it as ‘poor’.
Statistics suggest that cinemas are falling behind demand, with 97.5% of respondents agreeing that they would attend more often if the experience was improved.
Less than 9% of respondents believe there are an adequate amount of subtitled screenings in their local area, with 23% saying that these screenings are non-existent.

Some filmmakers are notorious control freaks who forbid improvisation on set and want everything to go exactly according to their vision. Quentin Tarantino is one of those filmmakers.

Tarantino, who Foxx lovingly refers to as a “tyrant” on set, did not like the way the actor was interpreting Django. Instead of playing a long-suffering slave at the beginning of the movie, Foxx was leaning into the character’s coolness, much to the disapproval of Tarantino. Let’s just say the director made sure Foxx got the message.

Todd Haynes loves period films, and capturing the look of the eras’ movies, but he doesn’t stop there; he’s obsessed with the visual languages as well. And all of that would be impossible without Haynes’ longtime cinematographer Edward Lachman, who takes a forensic approach: If you want the look, it makes sense to use the tools and production modes that created it.
In “Far From Heaven,” Lachman figured out how to recreate the manufactured studio look of Douglas Sirk’s 1950s Universal melodramas, while shooting on real locations. For “Carol,” he mirrored the color palette and sense of composition of mid-century color photographers like Saul Leiter.

Aside from the amazing characters, acting, and storytelling in Lion, the film had another unique aspect to it: just how much non-English is spoken. The Garth Davis-directed drama is considered a frontrunner by most critics in the best picture at the 2017 Oscars — but will language hold it back in the long run? Let’s take a look at history and see what we can learn.
While a large part of Lion is in English, there is also a substantial part of it that is in Bengali and Hindi. That’s because the plot — based on a 2013 memoir titled A Long Way Home — follows the true story of Saroo Brierley from becoming lost at the age of five, surviving many challenges, getting adopted by an Australian couple, and finding his birth family 25 years later. [[tmz:video id="0_fg5k85s4"]] Former Senator Tom Harkin has no words for Donald Trump, but he does have one quick and vivid sign for the Gop candidate. Harkin -- who spoke at the DNC last week using American Sign Language -- flew into Lax, and we asked him what sign he'd use to describe Donald Trump. His answer is short and hysterical. Basically, he's saying the Donald is #2 -- as in ... a turd. Watch and learn a little Asl.

When Chicago-based Uber driver Jose Figueroa found $3,000 in his car's backseat, he considered the stuffed wallet a challenge to do good, rather than a generous tip. Figueroa picked up a passenger who spoke little English around 8 p.m. on Monday night from the city's O'Hare airport, Chicago's Wgn 9 News said. After dropping the man off and driving back to the airport, Figueroa discovered the wallet. Unfortunately, the Uber driver app had already deleted his passenger's phone number and there was no identification in the wallet. He wasn't deterred, though, returning to where he'd dropped off the passenger in hopes of...

Ingrid Michaelson got particularly hands-on for her latest music video. The indie pop artist released the official clip of her new breakup single "Hell No" in April, and it was the first music video completely filmed on Snapchat. But after seeing the Deaf West theater company's Spring Awakening cast perform on the Tony Awards last month, she was inspired to recreate the music video for a wider range of viewers. So, Michaelson tapped six actors from the theater company who range from hearing impaired to deaf, and they appear in her new "Hell No" music video performing the lyrics translated...

Police in Maine got a kick out of a man's not-so-cop-friendly tattoo. Officials with the Bangor Police Department took to Facebook on Monday to post a photo of a smiling officer standing next to a man with a "Cops Suck" tattoo. The post detailed two officers' weekend encounter with a man identified only as "Russell," noting that they asked the man to "move along from his chosen location." "Russell was not arrested or charged with violations," the post states. "We like it that way." Officer Jimmy Burns noticed the tattoos on the knuckles of Russell's left and right hands, according to the post.

Every time Nyle Dimarco enters the ballroom on Dancing with the Stars, the model and actor is met with a thunderous applause – but he hears none of it because he is deaf.
Not that Dimarco minds.
"I've never wanted to hear," the America's Next Top Model winner says in the current issue of People. "That's never existed in my life. I'm happy!"
Born in New Jersey and raised in Frederick, Maryland, by his single mom, Dimarco is just one of more than 25 deaf people in his family.
His twin brother, his older brother, his parents, grandparents and great-grandparents? All deaf.
