Two intertwined but unconnected mysteries feature in this episode.
The first is a break-in at Police Station 4, but Murdoch has received a telegram that requires his attention, so he leaves his colleagues to sort out the burglary while he heads for the railway station.
Murdoch is reunited with Dr Ogden at her new place of work, the Children's Hospital, Buffalo, where she suspects that a child killer is on the loose. Meanwhile, Constable Crabtree sets up Murdoch's night vision camera, and captures a clear photo of a mouse. In Buffalo, the mother of the dead child is annoyed that she can't find his clothes or his toy rabbit, both of which could have been passed on to one of her surviving 8 children.
From then on, both investigations follow the evidence to their logical conclusions, though in each case, a little subterfuge is employed by the forces of law and order.
One case is rather more straightforward than the other, though in both cases side issues are left unresolved.
This is a more detailed episode than some, with more twists and turns than one might expect...
