Robert Kirkman, the creator behind The Walking Dead comic book series, has an unexpected favorite character within the expansive universe. While many would assume that he would choose someone like Steven Yeun’s Glenn, Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes, or any other impressive character from the original survivors, Rickman’s choice diverges significantly from popular opinion.

Despite the array of memorable heroes and villains introduced throughout the series, Kirkman’s preference surprisingly lands on Negan, one of the most brutal characters in the series.

Season 6 of The Walking Dead introduced Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the notorious Saviors’ leader Negan followed by what has been considered the most shocking and brutal moments in the whole series, Negan beating Abraham and Glenn to death in front of the survivors.

The Walking Dead franchise has spawned multiple shows, comic series, and video games, each of which has been fairly popular in its own way. The Og show, starring Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, and Danai Gurira in the lead, went on for 11 seasons, before concluding in 2022.
Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
But did you know that the show was supposed to run for four more seasons with two characters taking the lead after the exit of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira? Lincoln’s Rick Grimes left after season 8, and Gurira’s Michonne made her exit in 10. While Reedus’ Daryl Dixon took the lead after Grimes left to join the Crm, he too was going to make his way out of the Twd universe. At this time, Lauren Cohan’s Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan were supposed to take over.

It isn’t every day that you hear that even the cast and crew of a massively popular series are unaware of the future of the series. They usually have a good idea about the direction in which the show is headed. However, that was exactly what happened with the popular post-apocalyptic drama series, The Walking Dead as the star of the show, Jeffrey Dean Morgan once revealed in an interview.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and insects go a long way. Starting with Supernatural, the very 8th episode of the first season focuses on bugs and only those. So much so that the episode was even named after them. While the actor was not involved in the particular episode, the entire ongoing theme of the season was for the brothers to find their father, that is, John Winchester.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Supernatural
For his role in The Walking Dead: Dead City, the actor went above and beyond to get into character. So much so that he could easily be compared to Indiana Jones himself. While both have contrasting environments they developed from, there is one thing that ties them together, their dedication to get over their fears.

The Walking Dead: Dead City got an exciting update regarding its Season 2.
The first season left off with a notable lack of resolution, so the fact that there will be a continuation shouldn’t be too confusing for most. In the finale, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) sacrificed his freedom to save Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) son, Hershel (Logan Kim).
Now, Maggie’s in a tough spot pressured to make the right choice and try to save the man who brutally killed her husband.

When the Walking Dead spin-off The Walking Dead: Dead City (check out our review Here) had its premiere last June, it became the biggest cable drama debut of the year, drawing in 683,000 viewers as it aired on AMC, with viewers of the simulcasts on BBC America and IFC, plus replays, boosting the number of viewers to 1.12 million. So it’s no surprise that we’re getting a The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 – and today, Deadline reports that Kim Coates of Sons of Anarchy has joined the cast as a gang leader named Bruegel.

With The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live ending its six-episode run on AMC and concluding Rick and Michonne’s story, the wider Walking Dead universe is calling.
Deadline reports that The Walking Dead: Dead City has added a Sons of Anarchy alum to its already-impressive Season 2 cast.
Kim Coates has landed a “heavily recurring role” for the zombie spin-off’s second season, but sadly, no details have been revealed about who he’ll be playing.
The spin-offs that have taken place following the conclusion of the mothership have notoriously kept details about who new actors will be playing under wraps.

Kim Coates, best known for playing Alexander “Tig” Trager in the FX series Sons of Anarchy, is set to star alongside Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City. As first reported by Deadline, Coates will join the Season 2 cast in a heavily recurring role. He will play Bruegel, the leader of one of the fiercest gangs in New York City, who is more manipulative and intelligent than we might have assumed. Dead City debuted on June 18, 2023, and is the first sequel to AMC’s The Walking Dead. It follows Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) as they travel to a post-apocalyptic Manhattan searching for Maggie’s kidnapped son, Hershel. The crumbling city is home to the dead and denizens who have made NYC their own world of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. In addition to Cohan and Morgan, the series stars Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong,...

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live finale.
In some ways, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live marks the end of an era for AMC‘s long-running zombie franchise.
As fans saw in the Rick and Michonne spinoff’s sixth and final episode, the story of The Walking Dead‘s central lawman appears to have come to a satisfying conclusion (for the time being at least). Following many years in the figurative and literal wilderness, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) return home to Alexandria in “The Last Time” where Rick reunites with his daughter Judith (Cailey Fleming) and meets his son R.J. (Antony Azor). It’s the rarest of occasions for The Walking Dead: an honest-to-goodness happy ending.
Of course, The Walking Dead isn’t a big fan of endings, happy or otherwise. Though the flagship series concluded with its 11th season,...

The first season of the latest Walking Dead spinoff The Ones Who Live is concluding this weekend, but the latest profit participation lawsuit from zombie apocalypse creator Robert Kirkman, franchise executive producer Gale Anne Hurd and others is far from over.
With heavy emphasis on the $200 million settlement AMC suddenly made in 2021 to end ex-twd showrunner Frank Darabont and CAA’s nearly 10-year long lawsuit over profits, U.S. District Judge Fernando Aenlle-Rocha yesterday denied the outlet’s move to have Kirkman, Hurd, David Alpert, Charles Eglee and Glen Mazzara’s mega-millions case dismissed.
“It would be an illogical interpretation of the Mfn (most favored nations) provisions and contrary to the reasonable expectations of the parties in entering into the agreements if the court were to allow Defendants, as a matter of law, to provide Darabont and CAA with increased contingent compensation and a greater share of future gross receipts...

If there’s one thing that AMC’s The Walking Dead universe loves, it’s a time jump. While the first few seasons of the comic book adaptation were easy to follow, we were then hit with multiple skips through time, and fans were left scratching their heads as they fit together an increasingly confusing narrative.
Featuring the much-hyped return of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira as Rick Grimes and Michonne, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live brings the star-crossed lovers together after years apart. Unfortunately for those who were expecting a simplistic Romeo & Juliet with zombies, The Ones Who Live has already hit us with multiple time jumps. Sigh, it’s time to consult The Walking Dead timeline again.

One of the mandates laid out by actor Patrick Stewart prior to the shooting of "Star Trek: Picard" was that the new Trek series not be a reunion special. He didn't want to return to "Star Trek" after 15 years (his last appearance as Jean-Luc Picard was in "Star Trek: Nemesis" in 2002) just to participate in an insufferably teary series wherein the cast of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" tiresomely get back on the bridge of the Enterprise-d and re-do everything they had done on the celebrated 1987 series. By the time the third season of "Picard" rolled around, the series resoundingly broke that mandate.
In the show's first two seasons, however, the showrunners had to innovate. Picard was no longer a starship captain, and his closest allies were not an official Starfleet crew. Indeed, the main characters on "Picard" were all free agents, with most of them actively resentful of Starfleet.

Berlin — In a bellwether deal on one of the cutting edges of European TV, Zdf Studios has taken distribution worldwide on drama series “The Zweiflers,” produced by Turbokultur for Ard Degeto Film and Hessischer Rundfunk (Hr).
Created and showrun by David Hadda, the six-part series will premiere in Germany on Ard’s Mediathek streaming service in the spring and also be shown on Das Erste, Ard’s main linear channel, in the near future.
In an age of spiraling costs and a large need to cut through a still immensely crowded market, Europe’s public broadcasters –Zdf Studios, not Zdf in this case – are looking to partner. The most obvious partners are other state TV networks, even in their own country if the co-operation works.

When Andrew Lincoln exited The Walking Dead in 2018, we were promised a trilogy of movies to tell us what came next for our hero.
Six years later, we’re getting The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, a six-episode limited series that will chart Rick’s story after being handed over by Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) to the Civic Republic Military (Crm) and Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) harrowing quest to find him.
AMC shared the first four episodes with critics before the premiere, and after waiting so long for this story to come full circle, I can confidently say that it’s a resounding success.
In pre-series press, the cast has been vocal about the show being a love story with a post-apocalyptic backdrop, and that’s probably the best way to describe it.

A “Walking Dead” crossover among spin-offs might be in the cards, according to franchise chief Scott Gimple.
“I do have dreams of merging this all together, and I have [placed] little breadcrumbs towards that,” Gimple said during the 2024 Television Critics Association winter press tour. “You never know exactly when and how, because of a variety of reasons … I will just say, I’m building those pathways.”
Gimple warned that there “could be all sorts of pivots along the way” that might tweak his plans, pointing to cast and crew working on different projects who might not be available at the same time.
Gimple’s ambitions to weave “The Walking Dead” universe together started long before he created spin-offs “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,” “Tales of the Walking Dead” and “The Walking Dead: World Beyond.”

Throughout most of his early career, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was cast in roles that had him playing “good guys,” especially in guest roles on Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural, and in the romantic comedy film P.S. I Love You. But that all changed rather suddenly in 2009, when audiences saw him playing The Comedian, a villain in the movie Watchmen. Morgan, who has since gone on to star on The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: Dead City, at the time of Watchmen’s release he told us that he was anxious to play against his usual type in Watchmen, though it was not an easy role to play. This Fear the Walking article contains spoilers.
After eight seasons, the popular zombie horror series Fear the Walking Dead came to a close with a two-part finale, concluding the saga of Madison Clark and her fight to survive the zombie apocalypse. Along the blood-soaked way, there is plenty of death and betrayal as the survivors battle for the fate of Padre, an island refuge that becomes threatened by the ravenous undead hordes amid the power struggle between the living. Telling a largely self-contained story within the wider Walking Dead universe, the Fear the Walking Dead series finale provides its main characters with a send-off and perhaps the closest thing they’ll ever get to a happy ending.
Here are all the major deaths in the Fear the Walking Dead series finale, what becomes of those who survive long enough to make it to the end credits, and how the show resolves the mystery of Alicia,...

AMC Networks — the company behind such cable channel brands as AMC, IFC and Sundance TV, as well as such streaming services as AMC+, Acorn TV and Shudder — reported an 18 percent drop in third-quarter U.S. advertising revenue Friday, but returned to streaming subscriber growth after two quarters of declines.
On the company’s earnings conference call, management lowered its full-year 2023 revenue target from $2.8 billion to $2.7 billion. CFO Patrick O’Connell said this “reflects softness we are seeing in content licensing revenues, as well as the continuation of a difficult advertising environment.” But he highlighted that AMC Networks was sticking to its full-year bottom-line forecast. “Despite these headwinds, we are reiterating our 2023 adjusted operating income outlook and expect to be in the range of $650 million-$675 million, reflecting continued and better than previously anticipated cost discipline,” he explained.

The Walking Dead brand has been going strong for well over a decade. Since its Halloween debut in 2010, the franchise has expanded its proverbial walls with half a dozen spinoffs: Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Tales of the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and next year’s highly-anticipated reunion with Rick Grimes and Michonne in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
It’s quite a cinematic universe — on par with the Marvels and DCs out there — but it all goes back to Frank Darabont’s original series, which signed off last November. To commemorate that epic 12-year run, Lionsgate has released a beautiful new set dubbed The Walking Dead: The Complete Collection on DVD and Blu-Ray. Spanning 54 discs, the collection includes all 11 seasons, in addition to a 42-minute documentary and new artwork by Oliver Barrett.

“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” is off to the races in the ratings.
Per AMC, the premiere of the spinoff series centered on Norman Reedus’ fan favorite character is officially the biggest premiere in the history of streamer AMC+ with three weeks of streaming data available. That puts its ahead of fellow “Walking Dead” spinoff “The Walking Dead: Dead City” starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Maggie and Negan, which claimed the biggest premiere honor back in June. Both shows have already been renewed for second seasons.
Furthermore, “Daryl Dixon” is now on pace to become the most-viewed season of any show in the history of AMC+.
In the linear ratings, the fourth episode of “Daryl Dixon” this past Sunday hit new series highs in total viewership and the adults 25-54 demographic. In the Nielsen Live+3 ratings, the show hit 1.1 million viewers with its fourth episode. That includes 392,000 viewers in the demo.

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon episode 3.
Through its many years of zombie dominance, The Walking Dead has understood something important about its undead “stars.” Whether you choose to call them walkers, rotters, roamers, les affamés, or something else – zombies aren’t just monsters, they’re part of the environment.
The survivors on The Walking Dead frequently use zombies as a resource as much as they would use the logs from a downed tree or animal products from a deer. A zombie’s skin and guts can provide useful camouflage. As The Walking Dead: Dead City revealed, the methane drifting off of a zombie’s rotting body can be a fuel source. Even the “newer model” zombies like The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon‘s acidic variants have their purpose as well. Daryl figures out as much in episode 3 “Paris sera toujours Paris” when he uses...

“Fear the Walking Dead” is promising major reunions and bigger zombie fights for its final few episodes, if this first trailer is anything to go by.
Season 8’s “All I See Is Red” ended with Madison (Kim Dickens) starting to rebuild the base Padre. This new trailer picks up right where the episode left off with Victor (Colman Domingo) returning to her side and vowing to help her rebuilding efforts. But Victor isn’t the only one who’s back.
The first half of Season 8 ended with a mysterious someone listening to Madison’s broadcast. That teaser showed this stranger had the prosthetic arm that belongs to Madison’s daughter, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey). We still don’t know if Alicia is alive or dead, but we know who that mysterious stranger is.
Troy Otto (Daniel Sharman), the man Madison believed she killed way back in Season 3, appears in this final trailer.

Dark Winds will have another case to solve at AMC and AMC+.
The hit drama series has been renewed for Dark Winds Season 3.
A renewal was a no-brainer, with the cabler and its streaming sibling previously touting the show's continued success.
Dark Winds Season 2 averaged 1.7 million viewers during its first three days on the linear cable service.
Numbers for AMC+ have not been made available, but the network indicated that it had a strong footprint on the streaming service as the series aired.
Episodes were made available before their debuts on the service, so there was an incentive for fans to watch it earlier.
"We started this journey with very high hopes for this series, given the remarkable source material and extraordinary creative team behind it, and it has delivered on every level," said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks.

Daryl Dixon, what have you gotten yourself into?
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 1 Episode 1 reunited us with our favorite crossbow-wielding survivor of the zombie apocalypse.
After the success of The Walking Dead: Dead City, expectations were high that this France-set chapter in the expansive franchise would take things to a whole new level.
Thankfully, "L'ame Perdue" effortlessly transplanted Daryl in France, and it seems like he's racking up enemies wherever he goes.
This isn't the Daryl who went off to search for Rick and Michonne on The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 24.
This man has been put through extreme trauma during his time on the road and, err -- the high seas.
Daryl's decision to leave the Commonwealth was huge because it meant he risked leaving the life he helped build behind, but sometimes, you need to see what's out there.
My name's Daryl Dixon. I come from a place called the Commonwealth.

The Walking Dead reached the end of its eleven season run last year, and the first season of the follow-up spin-off The Walking Dead: Dead City ran through its six episodes earlier this year. The next follow-up spin-off, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, is set to reach AMC and AMC+ at 9pm on Sunday, September 10th – and star Norman Reedus told Entertainment Weekly that are several elements to the show that will make it stand apart from The Walking Dead. He said, “The photography’s different, the acting style of the people I’m acting with are different, the writing is different.” He even went on to say that the zombies are different: “The walkers that we have on this show, they’re all dancers. They’re not extras, they’re dancers — so they bend and move in weird ways. It’s a combination of a horror film mixed with Cirque du Soleil.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon may not quite deliver an adrenaline shot to the heart of the stagnated Walking Dead franchise, but the new six-episode series is absolutely the television equivalent of a café au lait and a tarte tatin.
It’s comforting and familiar, with a European twist that brings an aura of classiness along with its light buzz. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is easily the best version of Walking Dead storytelling since the early seasons of the mothership. And, because it can easily be jumped into with little or no background knowledge, it offers the rare opportunity for the brand to welcome new or long-lapsed viewers.

If the first “Walking Dead” spinoff following the finale of the flagship series, “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” seemed to mark the beginning of a new era for the franchise, the second certainly feels like a continuation — tonally, if not chronologically. “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” which premieres on AMC on Sept. 10, builds on the tentative good will established by “Dead City,” even arguably improving on some of its strengths.
“Daryl Dixon,” like “Dead City,” is a six-episode, largely self-contained story featuring a beloved core character transported to a brand-new setting. Where “Dead City” saw Maggie and Negan travel to New York City, this show sends the title character (played by Norman Reedus) across the Atlantic Ocean to post-zombie-apocalypse France.

The budget had become constrained by the time The Walking Dead ended its 11-season run on AMC.
The sets and action sequences bordered on quality more akin to a CW drama, and the overall scope of the show had diminished from its heyday.
Then, The Walking Dead: Dead City came along, armed with plenty of money in the budget, a New York backdrop, and some of the best storytelling in the Twd-verse in years.

Yet AMC’s latest effort to spin off the series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, is earning early praise from critics as the best Walking Dead in years.
The official premise: “Daryl (Norman Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as...
