Just hold on
poe_00929 March 2020
It's an okish anime, if you manage to hold on for the end. Not gonna spoil anything, but I almost lost interest in it several times, yet the end is worth the boring, repetitive, almost stereotypical anime plot.

I know nothing about it's relation to other anime (if any), but as I watched it, it got me (even if barely).

Gore, some anime tiddies, some kawaii moments, meh, worth a watch at least.

Something very controversial
martin_merelesc16 February 2022
It's really hard to recommend this because it sabotages itself with a horrible start, but if you like bloody things, you won't be disappointed. It's not called "blood" for nothing, you know. Some of the brutal stuff I saw gouged out my eyes.

SHE IS LIKE COMPLETELY AWESOME
nogodnomasters14 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have not seen the series, so watching the final episode I was slightly lost, although much is explained during the feature. Blood C consists of both regular animation and 3d graphics. Our super hero Saya is after the bad guy Fumito who is connected to an organization called the Tower. They are in cahoots with the government in enacting curfews in order to capture Saya. Saya in turn hooks up with a group of computer hackers who are trying to bring down the system and Fumito. In order to kill Bill, er ah Fumito, Saya must first get an Uma Thurman blade.

The characters in the feature seem to be geared toward a younger audience, but one that is old enough to watch the blood, violence, and cartoon nudity. This is a series I might obtain should they get it all together as one unit

A Very So-So Series
arorashadow_20039 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I will start out by saying I haven't seen anything related to the Blood Franchise until now. Blood-C is a collaboration between Production I.G and manga team CLAMP which is where my interest to see this came from. Unfortunately the series suffers what I both like and hate about CLAMP. Blood-C in the end proves to be only a bloody and violent mismatch.

Blood-C for the most part doesn't skip out on the action, it's very violent and very bloody however where it really lacks is in the storyline. CLAMP besides their unusual noodle art CLAMP's signature style is also well known for cute romance stories involving cute girls and cute looking boys. For the Blood franchise I can't tell if you it's appropriate, however I can tell you as far as this story goes any scenes with implied romance lag horribly. That is the apex of the problems with Blood-C is the ridiculous pacing problems and a seeming inability to build an atmosphere and keep it. The kind of cuteness worked for Cardcaptor Sakura and even Tsubasa Chronicle and even XXXHolic, but for some reason for a series like this, it feel very out of place.

The first five episodes are a joke of how much they abuse this cute girl version of Saya with her walking to school, singing and eating sweets then going off to hunt monsters at night and returning soaked in blood. Rinse and repeat you will find this series growing stale very fast even if you are a patient viewer. With each episode you question Saya's competence to be a fighter against these supernatural beasts and it's even more egregious in the eight episode where a monster appears in the school yard and she stands there doing nothing, while her classmates get slaughtered left and right.

The monster fights provide some excellent action and animation, gallons of blood and a little scariness but like so much of the story lacks any good suspense. Much of it has CLAMP's finger prints so glaringly over it that it's a gaudy series. Great animation and great music but a very lackluster story. For sure not one of CLAMP's better works and certainly not one of I.G's shining series either.

Still Waiting To See
butlerwm13 September 2011
I've followed Blood since the 2000 film which was dark, brooding, and angry; a truly sensual treat to the senses, primarily because of its equally dark, brooding, and angry main character. When the 2005 anime series Blood+ was released I watched excitedly, ever hoping for the appearance of the Saya from the movie version. While the series developed well and the story was engrossing, the Saya from the series never reached the level of the her motion picture counterpart. I can't say it was a disappointment because the series was so well executed.

When I found Blood-C, I hoped to find yet another incarnation of Saya who might stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the 2000 film version. I'm still waiting. I can't say I dislike the series because it has elements that are enjoyable to watch and a story the moves slowly toward bigger things. Still it lacks the intensity of the film or even the first series. In that the series is still ongoing, I can't say whether it will develop into the master work of the film or Blood+. I continue to hope and, for now, continue to watch.

If you enjoy the Blood concept, Blood-C may be enough to hold your interest and, as I said, hopefully it will develop into another arm of the original, engrossing idea.

What a waste!
eviltimes31 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The anime series Blood-C is a collaboration of Production I.G and Studio Clamp. As a result it has the Clamp style super thin long limbed, heavy breasted, mostly female cast. But the storyline and character for Saya - an already established character from Blood the Last Vampire and Blood+, has been abandoned. In this 12 episode series, The first 10 episodes are identical, with only a different monster rising from the ground for Saya to kill. As one of the monsters says to her: "pathetic" - and he is so right. Only in episode 11 are there any hints as to what is actually going on, and then everything is dumped out all at once in episode 12 (which is good stuff, but should have been spread out, foreshadowed - anything to make the rest of the anime interesting). This is just an extremely long trailer for the movie Blood-C: The Last Dark.

A very proper gory anime to watch out for!
Irishchatter16 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I swear at the end of this anime, you get chills everywhere when people start to get killed by monsters who were caused by the "nice" sneaky coffee man Fumito. Like Princess Monokoe, this is at least of the most gory animes out there that I have ever watched!

Saya is pretty much the baddest b*tch throughout the series. I like that she has changed her good girl attitude from the beginning of this series into such a strong serious warrior behaviour. You do expect surprises when it comes to personality changes in characters especially in anime!

I really can't wait to watch Blood-C: The Last Dark and see Saya beat Fumitos ass for being such a sneaky lil b**tard to her lol

Mixed feelings on this installment in the "Blood" franchise.
dameon_green11 April 2020
Having remembered Blood and Blood+ I figured this would be worth a watch but it's got more than a few flaws.

-Overall poor/average animation. Inconsistent sizing of the characters and object Comically stretched limbs on oddly thin characters

-Weak story Build is slow, repeated episodes without any clear direction and about 90 seconds of main story content. Last 2 episodes contain more story content then the previous 10.

-Oddly anticlimactic fights. Inside the context of the story the fights in the first 10 or 11 episodes "kind of" make sense, but the fights seem hollow when the main character is beat down for several minutes then kills the monster of the week in under 10 seconds.

Great series
blackmamba999718 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This has to be one of the goriest of the anime series. A program about a girl (Saya) who is enlisted by her father to become a sort of mediator between the humans and the Elder Bairnes. Elder Bairnes meaning demons who eat humans. But sometimes, these demons take too much liberty and eat too many humans to be desired, hence Saya who is trained using the sword to quell her foes. But somewhere in the middle, is a coffee shop owner who is a friendly type to Saya who gives her coffee and a unique soft marshmallow like treat and listens to her problems now and again. But during her second year in high school, murders heap beyond her control by the elder bairn's, and she must find and fight some of the most vicious creatures she has ever witnessed. However, sometimes after or during a fight, her temples give her pain, as if remembering something horrible in her past. She doesn't even know her own mother's name, if she's ever had one in the first place. Using this knowledge along with a talking spirit dog who is trying to help her memory, Saya realizes that all is not what it seems. This story looks like it is heading to an answer such as -- what if the people she knew were already dead? Living in a town where no outside interference occurs. With all the bloody messes and mass murders, you would think top notch police help would be called in. But, these people might be the product of past murders or sinful people who were condemned to live out their lives unbeknown-st to them that when their number is up, the elder bairn's are called in to clean them up as they see fit. But Saya might have lost her memory in the process of coming to this sleepy town. And in so doing, her father, might have kept the truth from her and taught her the ways of the shrine to stop the elder bairn's because of her unique talents. Such as mentally transforming herself into a perfect killing machine. This is another clue to her past, as in, what if she is an elder bairn? A demon trained to stop demons and protect her friends. This is a great story, twists and turns, lots of blood and gore, and a mysterious shadow in her mind for which she cannot get a hold of yet. Not recommended to those under 14. Highly recommended to those who love this kind of genre.

Wow super weak.
kegebler28 September 2020
This movie is very easily predictable. Not to mention the weird spindly long bodies with the giant boobs is hard to watch. It's a typical I'm a high-school person out to protect my friends and family and this case she never does and towards the end I was rooting for the monsters. Every time she gets beat up or watches all her friends die she then activates her power which spoiler her eyes just change and then she wins rinse repeat throwing a twist for the end which we all saw.... Garbage. Not to mention it is super gory. And if it's on like Hulu they will edit it even more.

Underappreciated Gory Gem
konradzschmitz11 October 2020
Most people see this and ignore the quality of the story just because of the goryness. It's a thrilling and entertaining script, with nice twists. And for those who enjoy some violence and blood, is a must!

What a waste
KKKiddow3 August 2019
Except the gory parts which you can fina on YouTube this is a complete waste of time. The characters are shallow and too stupid for their own good and the story up until the last episode is non existing.

Super gory anime with god awful writing.
frankblack-7996124 March 2024
Another entry to the Blood universe anime titles. Although they are all stand alone series, this title, like the others, has a main protagonist named Saya. They are each different, but have some of the same impotent character traits. This Saya, who is a very powerful warrior, will constantly have you yelling at your tv. "Why are you just standing there!? Do something!" was what my tv heard the most during this series. If it wasn't for the crazy gory action scenes (almost all of which are during Sayas standing around and watching sessions), this anime would be long forgotten as an entry to the Blood series. Blood+ was pretty terrible in the same aspect, but had a lot longer story. Whatever idiot Japanese writers thought people would enjoy watching the main protagonist stand around and watch people who they are supposed to protect get killed over and over again? To only kick it into gear after everyone is dead?! Lol. Stupid.

Brace yourself ... there will be blood everywhere
Gabrielfox15 October 2021
A real anime, not suitable for minors. Too gory, violent, and with a lot of well-crafted fight scenes. A story that unfolds piece by piece, episode by episode, until it reaches an epic ending that will take your breath away.
