Allergic to baseball and didn't tune into Jerry Seinfeld's commentary on the Mets game on Tuesday? Here's what you missed: Seinfeld said that earlier that day he went out on Louis C.K.'s boat to film an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. This should be a blast because while we've seen Seinfeld and C.K. display their prickly/affectionate rapport in various environments (HBO's Talking Funny, Louie's third season), the thing that was always missing was a boat.

Is Jerry Seinfeld guest-starring on the upcoming third season of Louis C.K.'s FX series Louie? If you believe Chris Rock would accidentally let that tidbit slip during a press junket, the answer is yes. Here's how the news was dealt, according to Hollywood.com: "At the junket for Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, [Chris] Rock answered his cell phone during his interview with Hollywood.com. But the interruption was for a good reason: Seinfeld was dropping Rock a line to chat about his day at work ... on the set of FX's Louie."Chris Rock and Ricky Gervais showed up in Louie's past two seasons, and if Seinfeld makes an appearance Louis C.K. will have nabbed everyone who appeared with him on HBO's excellent Talking Funny special. Plus, Marc Maron recently tweeted that he's shooting "a scene" for Louie. Maron and C.K. are besties of olde, with the latter...

The two comics were last seen on Gervais' HBO special Talking Funny, which was basically a living room discussion between Gervais, Rock, Seinfeld and C.K. on the topic of comedy.

Midway through last year's Talking Funny, a round table discussion among some of the world's most famous stand-up comics, Ricky Gervais claims, "In comedy... I think, you have to be the underdog. There's no place for being above the audience." He asserts that he plays a character on stage, ironically presenting himself as better or more knowledgeable than the people in the seats.
Judging from some of Gervais' more recent television projects, the mastermind behind The Office and the similarly brilliant entertainment industry satire Extras has become so mired in self-satisfaction that any ironic distance between Gervais as performer and Gervais as character is all but lost. To put it another way, there exists a fundamental divide between what Gervais is doing and what he thinks he's doing. Which is a shame, because while his material can often still be very funny, it's a bit harder to laugh along with...

Unusually, the biggest name on tonight's show is that of one of the reporters: David Attenborough, who presents a digression on the subject of John Craxton, as a new exhibition of the late artist's work opens at Tate Britain. Elsewhere, in a typically bountiful lineup, Mark Kermode speaks to Philip Seymour Hoffman about his directorial debut, Jack Goes Boating, Jacques Peretti meets writer Iain Sinclair, and Michael Smith attempts a Friday-night art crawl in south London. Charming chappie Stephen Fry speaks frankly - and poshly - to Laurie Taylor in the last In Confidence of the series. Ricky Gervais and Jerry Seinfeld are discussing comedy in Talking Funny, while I'm Pregnant And A Drug Dealer is unlikely to raise even the slightest chuckle.
