Warning: Spoilers
Very interesting look into Kakashi's (tragic) past and an explanation for his scar AND sharingan.

This anime made me shed tear over a character I've only known for one/two episodes, well done!

Emotional damage!

Wow what an episode! I don't know where to start, from start to finish all of it was beautiful. It brought me to tears... friendship and love can be so beautiful but at the same time so cruel at times. Two heroes were indeed born that day. No, in fact, two legends were born that day.

The appearance of a new Uchiha member Uchiha Obito in the anime story, the lesson he taught to Kakashi and explaining the origin of Kakashi's sharingan eye as a young kid in third great ninja war all in one episode made it an excellent unforgettable flashback episode filled with interesting plot stuff and emotional moments.

Kakashi of the Sharingan

Warning: Spoilers
The second part of Kakashi's story was excellent. Touching and tearful, a perfect writing to answer the pendant questions about Kakashi and his sharingan. A recap: Minato goes to the frontline to help his comrades, where only four remain alive. He asks them to throw all the sealed kunai to the enemy, that he will charge at them. In the meantime, Obito reaches the enemy's hideout where Rin is held as hostage, but he inadvertently calls their attention. One of the two, Taiseki, goes to confront him while the other, Kakku, places Rin under a gen jutsu to extract information. Taiseki camouflages and tries to attack Obito, but in the last minute, Kakashi appears and saves him by wounding the enemy with his father's sword. Taiseki recognizes it, and Kakashi tells he's the son of Sakumo Hatake. Then, Taiseki hides to the point that even his smell disappears, and surprises Kakashi, he slashes his left eye, causing him the scar. Then Obito, deciding to once and for all protect his friends, awakes his Sharingan and locates Taiseki, while stabbing him right on time. Kakashi is stunned, but finally admires Obito as a friend. He then uses Rin's medicine pack to cover his eye, and goes with Obito to save Rin. At the cave, they fight Kakku, matching his speed and strength thanks to the Sharingan. Kakku breaks Kakashi's sword, but is knocked down with a kunai. Just when they free Rin, Kakku surprises them and causes a rock collapse in the cave, before escaping. The three try to reach the way out dodging the rocks, but Kakashi can't given he lost his left eye, so Obito saves him by sacrificing himself. After the fall, Kakashi and Rin find Obito half crushed by a giant rock. The most emotive moment of the episode shows how Obito finally decides to give Kakashi a gift for his promotion: his left Sharingan. He asks Rin to perform the surgery, to which she agrees. Obito also asks his friend to prptect Rin. Then, she stays with him while Kakashi goes out to face Kakku. He defeats him while using the chidori, that is now complete thanks to the Sharingan. He returns with Obito, but a lot of enemies arrive and corner them. They provoke the full collapse of the remains of the cave, trying to bury the three of them. Kakashi escapes, and takes Rin at last, both heartbroken by Obito's fate. Obito is saddened because he was just getting along with Kakashi, and he could never tell Rin about his feelings. The two then escape to a tree, where Kakashi says he will protect Rin, as he promised Obito. He tells her that Obito loved her, she was everything for him, and before Rin confesses that she has actually feelings for him, Kakashi rejects it because he would have abandoned her. He feels he doesn't deserve those feelings, but instead, he will protect her for Obito. The enemies surround them, and everything turns into white. It's showed later that Minato appeared thanks to the sealed kunai he gifted Kakashi, and defeated everyone, saving them. When Kakashi awakes, his sensei says he's sorry for being late and that Rin told him what happened. Rin is showed looking at the stars in the night. The episode finishes, as Hiruzen ends the story, recalling how the mission to destroy the Kannabi bridge was succesful, and two heroes were born: Kakashi of the Sharingan, and Obito Uchiha, whose memory rests in the monument to the fallen in the war. That's the story of the sacrifice of Obito Uchiha, and how Kakashi became the copy Ninja.

Besides the story, the soundtrack was as great as always. The development of each character, wonderful. Kakashi had a long road to become the ninja of the present. I knew Obito died, but the way he did was stunning, touching. The kind of love triangle played a minor but significant role by raising Obito's sacrifice and dying wish. He changed Kakashi, and not only by giving him the eye. All the lessons Kakashi gave to his pupils, were born in this mission. As for the surgery, I admit that it looks gory for a young girl like Rin to make such procedure in her two best friends. But considering they were forced to mature at a young age, it's coherent for the plotline. About Minato, here it's important that he had his first failure. Sadly, it was never showed his process, but he surely had a hard time because he was responsible, the leader of the mission. To lose a student, that usually doesn't happen. But somehow, he recovered, and became the 4th Hokage. I think Kakashi owned Naruto this story, as a lesson for him to learn.
