Still a great game, but don't keep your expectations too high
robot95415 April 2012
Singleplayer - Short (~6hours, super fast-paced. Maps are extremely linear like usual. Veteran's not that hard, you just have less health and die very easy. The plot line is okay, but COD isn't really a game that excels in its storyline.

Multiplayer - Most people say it plays like MW2, which it does. Guns: Customization has been much improved - more attachments, new "proficiencies" (e.g. kick, damage, range). Unlocks go by weapon XP (which comes from kills AND challenges) till Level 31, which unlocks the Gold Cameo.

Explosives: The blast radius has been greatly reduced, so grenades are pretty ineffective. Noobtubes are nerfed, but still usable (but barely anyone uses them)

Killstreak setups: 1. Assault - streaks still stack, but it is MUCH harder to get high streaks. 2.Support - streaks remain after you die, so Stealth Bombers and EMPs become pretty annoying for most people, 3. Specialist - the perk bonuses are probably the most fun MOAB - 25 gun killstreak fun, only if you can get it. If you're used to high killstreaks in MW2, it's much harder in MW3.

Maps: are very small, and not sniper friendly. The DLC has a couple more sniper friendly maps. Host migrations: have been fixed, and don't take that long, which is a real improvement.

Theatre Mode: Allows you to continuously record gameplay (or turn it off), and upload up to 30s on free ELITE (to youtube or Facebook) (but uploading on ELITE has problems - the first couple seconds of a clip are always cut out, and many clips won't render at all) You also can't see the 1st person view of another player (only 3rd person)

GameModes - a couple new ones (Kill Confirmed), and community playlist, which are updated, so a new mode regularly appears (e.g. Drop Zone, All- or-Nothing, etc.) There's no Combat training, no ballistic knives, crossbows or dogs, like Black Ops. I wish they brought those back.

Faults: Grenades are hard to use. Some overpowered deathstreaks (Dead man's Hands). Some OP weapons (Akimbo FMG9s) but continuously patched (like the Striker). Overpowered Support Streaks (Stealth Bombers and EMPs). No Commando, but knifing is not as good as MW2.

Spec Ops Survival: Survival mode is pretty fun- troops, helis, and Jugs. You can only play alone or with a friend, (not 4 people like Black Ops, but I guess the small maps are the problem). The survival maps are the MP maps so there's no unlocking rooms. The weapons are the same as MP, but guns, especially snipers respond slightly differently than MP. And as a warning, some people get bored pretty fast with Survival.

Spec Ops Missions: 48 stars to complete, much easier than MW2, but the long ones are annoying if you die halfway and have to restart.

ELITE: Get it if you plan on getting all the DLCs, otherwise, you could buy another game with that money. If you don't buy it, you can still have most of the free ELITE benefits.

OVERALL: SPs fun but short. Survival is fun, but can get boring fast. SpecOps are the usual. MPs good, but has its faults. It's better than MW2, but don't keep your expectations too high. Many of the MW2 problems have been fixed, but there are still many problems. Try not to get frustrated with its faults, and have fun (I know, sounds stupid) otherwise, you might hate the game. Plus, if you don't play online, get another game, since Multiplayer's the main focus of MW3.

Brilliant Sequel
cox_oneshotprogress16 November 2011
Although the single player campaign only lasts about 10 hours, it is well worth it! Each mission is fast paced and leaves little time for a breather. You will find yourself wanting to replay certain levels (such as the presidential plane dive bombing whilst you're trying to neutralise certain hijackers). The storyline carries on from MW2 and is just as brutal as its predecessor. As usual the acting is as good as you'll get in a game, such as William Fichtner and Kevin Mckidd.

The multiplayer again stands on its own and introduces new maps, new guns, new rewards and a couple of new game modes! Playing for 1 match or 10 you'll still feel like you've achieved something. You'll be so caught up in the game that when you hear the achievement sound it'll keep you thinking what else have i done? There are a few tweeks here and there to the old style that you'll be used to but all for the best.

The only criticism i can give this game is that there is no space for sniping within the maps that i can find. However that could easily change with DLC in time.

All in all, a brilliant sequel to juggernaut of a series.

A Good Ending
coltsfan1828814 November 2011
I am one of those people who is judging this based on the campaign alone. The online is good as always. The story modes in the MW series have always been interesting, and the backdrops are breathtaking. Some of the scenes with the the US Marines and Army are really cool, and the whole nuclear war, conspiracy theory thing is enough to make you think. While this campaign was a bit longer than MW2's, it still felt kinda short (I probably beat it in around 13 hours). It also isn't the great ending and climax that one may want. There are also the same old endless waves of enemies, who will completely disregard their own safety to try and kill you. But overall, its a great ride, and if they made it into a movie it would be amazing (as well as cost near a billion dollars)...

The best sequel you could ever get!

Warning: Spoilers
*May contain spoilers*

You world as you knew it is gone. How far would you go to bring it back? Shepherd created a war...but only we know the truth. - Captain John Price

This is the game for COD fans! Starting hours after the killing of Shepherd, this game will have you wondering what will happen next. The graphics are updated, but they're not as good as Black Ops. But the campaign is breath taking. Sadness, and a couple chuckles are here and there. Although The Rangers don't return, you take up the role Of Frost, a part of Delta Force. Cpt. Price, Soap, and Nikolai are back along with an Ex-Spetsnaz named Yuri (with Task Force 141 being disavowed) who are all on the hunt for Makarov. The war spreads all over the world. But, after it ends, one more task must be done: Kill Makarov, who is killed by one of the most loved characters from the MW Trilogy. With the nightmare killed, the trilogy ends with a song that makes you think of all the memories from MW-MW3. Any COD fan should, say again SHOULD get this game!!

Great ending to a great trilogy.
joenasc14 February 2012
Quick summary: Modern Warfare 3 starts off with Captain Price and Nikolai getting Soap, whose still injured from the ending of Modern Warfare 2, to a safehouse in India. Meanwhile, NYC is under attack by the Russians and Makarov is still at large.

The campaign was awesome, just awesome. There was so much action in those levels, a few characters return, I loved some of the plot twists, and also fighting in France, Germany, on an airplane, etc. was cool. I will say that there were times where a few levels seem to have gone by really quick. The multiplayer was similar to the first 2 games, but this time it has new killstreaks and game modes. Also Spec Ops is pretty cool, just like in MW2.

Overall, MW3 is epic and whoever played the first 2 games or the Call of Duty series in general will love this game.

The Best Call Of Duty Ever!!

Warning: Spoilers
Call of duty modern warfare 3.

Campaign. The campaign for MW3 is the best one yet starting off literally right after the second one finished, two different story lines are in this one too,one of them being Yuri an ex spetszaz soldier hell-bent on finding and destroying Makarov, the other being Frost a delta force soldier attempting to track down the Russian president who has been kidnapped by makarov. The MW3 campaign does not disappoint offering players something new within every single mission,a shocking twist is also in store too and an incredible final mission.Spec ops has something new to offer as well the is still the spec ops missions but also an all new survival mode, survival mode is a truly addictive and fun piece of game-play survive endless waves of enemies while earning money from your kills you can also buy new guns, perks, air support and teammate's to lend a hand if you are in trouble.Call of duty modern warfare 3 will knock you off your feet....but keep you in front of your screen.10/10

Modern Warfare 3 a new Era
alexander-f100023 November 2011
Call of Duty Modern warfare 3 is the newest in the Call of Duty sequel selling an amazing 6.5 million on day release setting a new record. Let's start of with the campaign where you continue your hunt for villain Makarov battling through all sorts of new areas and enemies. You are hit with a lot of new features through this new campaign such as mortar towers, Juggernaught suits and assault drones. Also unlike Modern Warfare 2 history you get to play as the man himself Captain Price and hopefully end Makarov's run once and for all. While playing through the campaign you play as two new characters Frost from delta force and Yuri working along side Soap and Captain Price. The Main problem with the campaign is not the graphics or ideas but the length I believe it stops people overplaying the online game play as if the campaign was long you could mix and match between campaign and online. However anyone looking to buy the game should be prepared for new never been seen before features and new areas which have never been explored it is a definitely improved campaign from previous Call of Duty's.

The online game play has been frowned upon more being too much like Modern Warfare 2. I can assure you this isn't true. The game play modes, classes, maps and kill streaks are all new. Firstly the classes are certainly not the same as Mw2 as in these game they are more personal to your Game play style. As well as the new perks which keep upgrading for points after turning pro you get extra things added to make it that much more special. Firstly proficiency adds a wide range of mini perks such as kick, impact and many more to suit close and long range gunners or stealth like players. Also your gun now has it's own level making you test out all of the different attachments to gain points for your gun to level up and get the top gold cameo. This stops people staying with one gun class like Modern Warfare 2's Ump45 as once your gun is max level this implies to you that you have master it and need to move on. The assault and support kill streaks suits is completely new to call of duty and you can have a separate set of kill streaks for each class meaning you don't have to change around your classes for different game modes. Firstly the support point streaks they are now called suit objective type players who gain experience capping objectives and supporting their team . These point streaks are mostly defence type streaks like radar, advanced radar and EMP to help your team defend objectives and support people using assault point streaks. Assault point streaks suit the kill whoring type players as are things such as chopper gunner, assault drone and ah6 over watch these take time to shoot down and help these types of players maintain a good kill to death ratio. Finally the nuke on Modern Warfare 2 I believe was way to easy to get so making it so you have to get 25 kills in a row no kill streaks count takes a lot more skill to do. Another good thing about the online is the new game play modes such as kill confirmed perfect for people who hate camping.

Now there are problems with the online for example no stopping power sometimes results in people taking unbelievable amount of bullets and you die from two bullets sometimes showing the game can be unfair at times. Also what would be good of any Call of Duty is to have their own server as although host migration is more than often successful it can get annoying when it happens a lot. Looking at Call of Duty's sales they surely have enough to splash out on their own server like games such as MAG which uses Sony as a server rather than a player host. Finally one of the main problems for the online is the hit detection, this is where if you are near an enemy your character moves slightly without your control as you can sense them. Sometimes online this can happen from quite far distances resulting in enemies being able to preliminary fire at you as they know you are coming.

Private matches differ from any other game in the franchise as they have their own custom game modes which are not playable online. Some examples are infected, Juggernaught and team Juggernaught. Also due to popularity last year wager matches one in the chamber and gun game have returned yet they are specific to private matches. The difference this time is in wager type matches the host can choose what classes will be used to go in favour of your parties preferences. Also the final thing about private matches is that you weapon custom classes in private matches are different to your online custom classes so you can have specific classes for private and specific classes for online. The game did bring back special ops missions like on Modern Warfare 2 but as well as this you can play survival mode which is basically Modern Warfare's version of zombies. Survival see's you battling off all sorts of different kinds of enemies to achieve the highest wave (round) possible. The missions are pretty similar objective wise to Modern Warfare 2 such as time trials, defending and planting objectives which is a bit of a let down. Also the fact that it is only two player isn't as fun to play in parties or even finding a match online as there is only one other person with you so it can get boring. The most noticeable change to special ops is you have a rank so you can level up and unlock new things to help you in the missions and survival making it that little bit easier.

An excellent, gripping, well developed game!
www-rosso111 November 2011
I absolutely love this game and can't stop playing it, as there is so much to do and go for. For example, there are so many challenges to go for, so the 80 levels will go quite fast as challenges = XP. The maps are a bit more complex then maps in other Call of Duty games but still you are close to the fight. I myself, haven't played the campaign yet will, but will do soon. As always, there will be negatives about a game, so here are some I have discovered; since Stopping Power was taken off, at the odd time, it takes a ridiculous amount of bullets to take and enemy down, not always... but sometimes. Overall, Sledgehammer has done an excellent job and it is an amazing game!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Game Review
WhiteFire4048 June 2018
MW3 is probably the weakest game in the trilogy, but is still a pretty good game. After the first two MW games. expectations for this game were through the roof and that was probably one of the reasons people overreacted a bit when it came out, admittedly this game isn't as strong as it's predecessors but is still a good game, the campaign is short and unfortunately it doesn't have as many memorable set pieces as the previous games, with only two of them being stand outs for me, the score is good but again not as good as the previous ones, gameplay is the standard stuff, not many changes from MW2, the story is actually better than MW2 in my opinion, with the stakes actually feeling pretty high and the game has a pretty satisfying conclusion. Even though MW3 was weaker than what came before, I would still recommend this game solely to see how this particular storyline is concluded.

The campaign is a 10/10, but this is where the multiplayer began to drag in the series for me. I played a lot of it, but I never felt like I was experiencing something amazing as I had with the previous installments. I don't know, maybe it's just me; a lot of folks on here have given this one a high rating.

Amazing game
brettmurph12323 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Call of duty returns. with the conclusion to the modern warfare series. In my opinion this game is amazing, after a long wait it was definitely worth while. Non stop fire fights with tons of action and an amazing storyline. In this game you mainly control the characters "Yuri" "Frost" and a few others from the armies from France, Germany and England. The Game takes place exactly after the events of modern warfare 2 where the Russian invasion has just begun and you find out the general of the rangers is working with the leader of the Russian invasions "Makarov" so you have to kill the general (General Sheppard) so you end up killing him because in the last mission you play as "soap" and general Sheppard stabs you in the stomach with a knife so him and captain price(one of the main characters in the whole series)fight and before captain price is almost killed you end up pulling out the knife and throwing it into general Sheppard's eye. Also the multi player is new and refreshing with tons of new features and guns. Also the return of special ops and the new game mode survival. Overall the game is fantastic with a great campaign, multi player and game modes!! Definitely one of the best games i've ever played.

Good game by itself; bad game coming after Modern Warfare 2
ghostrecon-tingey14 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This review will mostly focus on the campaign. For me, the story is the most important aspect of anything. By itself, MW3 was a pretty good game. It had some fun levels, good multi player, and decent special ops. I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed survival and the 2 New York levels, but that's about it. Here's why:

Campaign

When MW2 ended, there were 5 loose ends that needed to be tied up: 1) Soap was injured; 2) he, Price, and Nikolai were on the run from the Russians and from the Americans because they had just killed a high- ranking (albeit traitorous) American General and wiped out an entire American base; 3) General Shepherd's Shadow Company was still out and fighting; 4) the war was still going on; and 5) Makarov was still out there.

Of those loose ends, only 3 were wrapped up: Makarov was killed in an epic duel between him and Price, the war ended when President Vorshevsky met with the US President for peace talks, and Soap apparently recovered from his wounds, which ended up being redundant when he was killed off later. This game made 2 mentions--mentions! not plot lines--of how Price and Soap were on the run: Captain Macmillan said he was "on everyone's s*** list" and Sandman said "Uncle Sam's got a kill/capture order on your head." Those are the only mentions of Price, Soap, and Nikolai being on the run. And at the very end, Price works with the Americans, no questions asked.

They also add a Russian named Yuri to the disavowed Task Force who apparently hates Makarov as much as Price. There is no real need for this character other than to say that Makarov was in Pripyat in 1996 with Zakaev and that he detonated the nuke in 2011. If Infinity Ward wanted to tie the three games together, they didn't need Yuri. They could have had Makarov explain in all when talks to Price. The fact that Yuri was there meant the player would not be able to play as Soap. My favorite missions in MW2 were when you got to play as Soap after not being able to play as him for most of the game. It really was just like old times like Price said, for him and Soap and for the player, who would not have had that experience since MW1. Playing as Soap in this game would keep that going. There was no need to bring in Yuri and they just killed him off at the end anyway.

Aside from that, some of the missions, like the New York missions were pretty fun. I also liked where Price and Yuri infiltrated Makarov's stronghold and the last level where Price killed Makarov (that level was awesome because that was the first time the player got to be a Juggernaut, but the armor got destroyed halfway through and proved to be way more vulnerable than the enemy Juggernauts in Special Ops). The European missions were pretty fun, but not as well done as they could have been. The first mission in Germany had no real objective--you were just killing people to kill time until the level was long made enough. The England mission was not very good because instead of allowing you to see the sights of England like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, or the London Eye, the game took you through the back alleys and subways of England, ending near Big Ben when a random and unnecessary nerve gas was introduced (and never resolved. You see the nerve gas hitting England and France, but it's never explained if it is contained).

Special Ops

The survival mode was awesome. It was like Nazi zombies but with actual militants, choppers, and Juggernauts. You could get to level 20 before the forces started to get overwhelming instead of wave 7 like zombies. It forces you to use strategy and apply defense mechanisms with explosives, turrets, and air strikes. No complaints there.

The actual special ops missions left a lot to be desired. They were basically the missions of the campaign just backwards and some were even repeated. There were also a lot less missions than in MW2, so they were sort of fun at first, but then got boring because of the lack of variety. And every 5 seconds Overlord would repeat his orders and say them in as many words as possible.

A word on the game as a whole, the developers tried to make the game more like MW1. MW2 was good for many reasons but mainly because the developers recognized how good MW1 was and they built on top of it. MW3 tried to be like its predecessors instead of doing something new. MW1 was groundbreaking because it was one of the first games that showed what the titled implied: modern warfare. It had updated weapons, sights, graphics, an AC-130, Stingers, Javelins, and it had a nuclear bomb and two nuclear missiles that the player had to race against the clock to stop. MW2 took it one step further with more guns, a better story, funner levels, awesome special ops missions, great characters, a nuke going off in the atmosphere, Predator missiles, the Stingers and Javelins in different settings, and a huge plot twist. MW3 had nothing new to offer. It had the Predator for 2 levels for about a minute, it had an AC-130, and just a lot of the same things. Nothing new to offer.

All in all, a good game by itself, but not so good when it's coming after MW2

although it has good game play this game is just MW2 with more maps, while on the same time their rivals came out with a more realistic fps shooter(won't name it we all know it), and if this wasn't enough, only months after its arrival you can find at least 2 cheaters in each game.. all that for only 59.99€ on top of that the host system is RIDICULOUS cause if the one picked as host doesn't have a capable computer (or has torrents on), everyone freezes!!! enjoy your sadomasochistic online sex

A strong (if short) solo campaign, quite good spec ops but multiplayer is too frantic and random to be actual fun unless with friends
bob the moo26 December 2011
As sure as winter follows fall, the final quarter of the year sees another in the Call of Duty franchise pop onto shelves giving fans more of what they want but with new maps, weapons, story and so on. Having been badly burnt with MW2 (where I found myself a paying beta tester for the massive problems with that game) I was wary but was able to get it cheap as supermarkets tried to lowball each other to get volume in place of profits. Part of the reason for this was that, although short, I do enjoy the MW campaigns and, wary of spoilers, this is where I started.

The campaign continues the OTT plot and takes the same model of playing several characters across various global settings. OK the device of making Makarov all-powerful and central doesn't totally work but what does work is the delivery. The game play allows for some flexibility within the "rails" on which you're on; I found I could rush direct or flank and the layout of the levels. It is gloriously over the top and it is like being in an action movie. The voice action is manly and urgent, the soundtrack is loud and dramatic and the overall effect is that you really feel you're in the middle of a Michael Bay action movie. It is very short if you're only buying the game for the campaign, but I found it enjoyable and very satisfying as a game. It manages to be incredibly cinematic but yet I never felt like I was a tiny part of something bigger (like I did with the World at War campaign) and instead it was focused, with skirmishes having global meaning and urgency but yet being tight and contained. It doesn't all work in terms of plots and events but I enjoyed it a great deal and the ending was a great build-up to a really satisfying conclusion.

The Spec Ops part of the game remains a little stuck on in terms of the missions – on hardest setting some are near impossible without 2 players but mostly you'll get through them easily enough and their standalone nature means they are not that engaging. Massively better though is the addition of the Survival mode wherein you try and hang on through waves of increasingly difficult enemies. I enjoyed this mode a great deal and it was the one I played most – the supernatural force of the zombies in the Treyarch games (which Infinity Ward have ripped off here) never appealed to me because it felt like just battling the tide. However here the "human" foes armed with guns and moving tactically (as opposed to rushing mindlessly) made me feel I could outsmart and out play them. I'd have loved the fun of 4 players in a party doing it but it does work best with 2 players in terms of the challenge and gameplay.

This leaves the multiplayer – a game mode that has eaten so many days of my time on COD4 that I would be embarrassed to write it down! I have noticed that over the consecutive games I have put less and less time into it, to the point now that the game is social for me – I play it with friends but never alone. Even with friends though MW3 is a weirdly frustrating experience. The spawns are terrible and even in domination (a very stable game mode) you'll appear in front and behind of people all the time – I guess it balances out but it is still annoying. The game play is frantic but not in a good way, streaks are difficult and (with the spawns) deaths are often random. I liked some of the changes to the pointstreaks but too much felt like a step-back from Black Ops – the theatre mode is terrible, the lack of caps/defs for objective games is poor, but these are all details, it is the gameplay that matters. Sadly it is too frantic, too random and too lacking in tactics to be fun. I used to love the mode Domination and "understood" the flows of the game so well I could even "feel" when the other team sort of gave up trying to win. With MW3 there is no "flow" to feel, no tactics to read – no point in trying to flank to the far side of the map when you'll probably spawn there in a second or two! For my money MW3 was worth it because the campaign gave me about 15 hours of fun (a few playthroughs) and the Survival mode alone saw me clock over 35 hours (and enjoy them all) but I must say I'm tiring of it all. The multiplayer is uninspired and too frantic to be fun. Infinity Ward always talk about capturing the COD4 magic, but I don't think they can – they just keep "adding" stuff and the overall effect is to detract from the multiplayer, which is a real shame. A decent game that is worth getting but neither as bad as the haters suggest nor as good as the fanboys proclaim.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
michaelhurley69713 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I have been a fan of the Call of Duty series since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Five years has passed since Modern Warfare 1 first came out, and I still am not bored of the game. Many people called this game, "Modern Warfare 2.5," don't listen to them, play the game for yourself. The first thing I did when I got this game was play the campaign. It is full of the same epic action that has been in every COD game since COD 4, and the graphics still look beautiful, even though it is running on an old engine. The story picks up right where it left off, and it grabbed my attention immediately. The characters are still interesting and fun to watch develop, while the tragedies actually made me feel sad. The campaign wrapped up the series nicely. Returning to Modern Warfare 3 is Spec Ops, except with a new game mode called Survival. It is an intense game mode that will keep you and whoever you are playing with excited the entire time. It gets extremely difficult, the enemies start out having small arms with not armor, but eventually come juggernaut armor, explosives on them, and gas tanks attached to them. Then there is the normal spec ops mission mode. This is back and greatly improved over Modern Warfare 2. The missions are much more intense and varied while also being less frustrating. Last, but certainly not least, is the multiplayer. This is what many people criticized for being to much of the same that MW2 was. While it is very similar there are enough changes that have been made so that I am still interested in it, even after having it for 7 months (I know this review says November but I just edited it significantly on June 12th). There are some new game modes such as Kill Confirmed and Team Defender that keep the game fresh and encourage team work. You can also create game modes for private matches much more easily, some of these game types that are now available for every body and are called Drop Zone, Infected, and free for all moshpit. These are some of my favorite game modes that weren't in any old COD games. There are still the classics such as TDM and Domination. Also new is the strike package system. With this system you can set up a different kill streak package for each class instead of one for all. You can choose from Specialist, Support, and Assault. Specialist (What I use) allows you to get extra perks (you can choose what extra perks you get) with kill streaks. Support are killstreaks that never end, meaning, if you die it doesn't mean you can't get the killstreak reward. A juggernaut is the last option to get in that area and it is not crazy powerful. The support section is for team players, it can range from airstrikes, to bullet proof vests (for everybody), to remote sentries, to recon drones (once tagged by a drone you show up on the enemies map), and to juggernauts. The final killstreak section is the assault section, this is like the killstreak system of old. Once you die, the streak restarts, so if you want to get a reward that takes 17 kills, you must get 17 kills without dying. These are the powerful kill streaks. This section has killstreaks such as Chopper Gunners (called an osprey gunner), AC- 130's, powerful juggernauts, reapers (Allows you to shoot multiple predator missiles), and UAV's. I don't have Call of Duty elite but you can look it up if you are willing to pay extra (I have heard it is cool). The maps have been restructured to play to all game types. I prefer to rush and unlike in MW2 I had no trouble doing so with success. The multiplayer in this game is also much less frustrating because Infinity Ward lowered noob tubes and shotguns in power, while also forcing Campers to use more skill. Overall there is enough in the multiplayer to keep me interested, the spec ops section is refreshed and exciting, and the campaign wraps up the series well. There is enough in this game to keep you interested for quite some time.

This comes from the Modern Warfare series?
Stealth_Ninja_Kitty12 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start out by saying there are no major spoilers(like who dies).

This has to be one of the most disappointing CoD title, ever. When I first started the campaign I was excited. The more I played though, the more I got bored. It just seemed to be repeating itself over and over and over and over and over again. It was the same damn thing every level. The atmosphere was dull and very uninteresting. Honestly it was a huge disappointment. Also too, the campaign took me only 4 hours to beat. From 11 AM to 3:20 PM. I don't care how dull the campaign was, even though I absolutely disliked the campaign, I would've kept on playing to see how it plays out, maybe if the campaign was longer, it would have gotten better. I guess we'll never know now. The characters in the campaign weren't very interesting either. No good characters like Ghost. Even though it's only four hours long, it seems to drag on. It's almost like a movie that never ends. The ending is very disappointing. All of you should know by now that there is a death at the very end, like Shepard. Let me just say you barely do anything to kill the person. You just press a couple buttons and it automatically does it for you. You don't shoot a gun or throw a knife at the person. Hopefully Treyarch can save the CoD series.

The graphics looked like they were a step down from MW2. There were no attention to detail. It was horrible! The doors of the vehicles you hop in and the rubble everywhere has barely any detail to it. Most of the setting looked 2D. I hope Infinity Ward can learn a few things from Treyarch about graphics and attention to detail.

Now moving on to Survivor Mode. I must say that it's very enjoyable. Zombies gets boring after awhile. Survivor Mode doesn't seem like it would get boring. It's very fun. You can lay down up to 10 C4 and 10 claymores. You unlock guns and levels the higher you get. I love the air support and I love how there are different challenges each round. For example there might be choppers one round, suicide bombers the next, dogs and then juggernauts. It's a very very worthy competitor against Zombies. I am now absolutely addicted to Survivor Mode. It's the best thing about MW3, so cherish it.

Now moving on to multi-player. It is a huge disappointment. It's like the creators said "lets get the same guns from MW2, give them different names and paint them all black!" The multi-player is horrendous. I can't get hooked to MW3's multi-player like I got hooked to MW2. It's very hard to level up because the maps are all clustered together. There's little to no room to snipe. There are no memorable maps like Firing Range, Nuke Town, Afghan, and Highrise. I am very disappointed with the multi-player. There are so many overpowered guns that EVERYBODY uses, it's just not fun. At least Black Ops is more balanced. So please don't buy this game for the multi-player, because you will be very disappointed.

Not even Survivor Mode can save this game. In the words of Capt. Price "This is for the record". Don't bother folks, don't bother.

A Great Game
This is a great game! I've replayed it while In this quarantine and I look at how great it was. It's not as good as Black Ops 1's campaign but nothing really is. I'll make it short and say it's worth your time.

need of the remake
roxydzey29 May 2022
Well the graphics would be ok for such year game, but the problem is with fps lock and 144hz monitor shows lag with that lock on. If they did the remake for this game with even better graphics and without any limited fps this would be a killer 10/10 game. Oh if someone reading here haves a problem with graphic quality or if the lag is so bad that you cant take it anymore - use image quality setting "NATIVE", it will help a lot, trust me.

Oh and without spoiling anything, i wanted to say that i would love to see james bond included in this franchise, imagine mixing up these two worlds into the one.. like if something is happening in england for an example, and bond helps capt. Price like for an old friend or smth haha.

Great Conclusion to a Game You've Played Before
isaacwest-660018 March 2023
Did you play CoD4: Modern Warfare? Great! Did you play CoD: Modern Warfare 2? Great! Because this is the same for better and worse. In keeping what must be exactly the same formula of the first two Modern Warfare installments in both campaign and multiplayer, Infinity Ward delivers nothing new with this installment; fortunately that formula is a pretty great one. Survival is the only thing I can think of that is new, it was a nice distraction but nothing huge. Spec Ops and multiplayer are still fun, but again, nothing new. The campaign is once again well directed and voiced, with a satisfying conclusion and a nice twist in playing as Yuri for a time. The problem is, as you've read before here, we've seen it before. All of the hallmarks of the CoD campaign gameplay returns without any new fun twist that makes it disappointing. Look, all in all it's a fun game. I enjoyed it. I have good memories with it. But was the beginning of my disinterest in CoD, especially because it was the beginning of Activision trusting the once legendary formula so much turning out bad Call of Duty games.

Close up shop, Activision..
phillo74-110 November 2011
I was a massive COD fan. MASSIVE!!! And although i was warned, and warned, and warned again about MW3, i decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. Then what happened??? I got scr*wed-over by Bobby Kotick, Sledgehammer, and Activision...all one after another.

I've never been so disappointed in my whole life. Meanwhile these guys are laughing all the way to the bank.

MW3 is a carbon copy of MW2. FACT! The guns are mediocre at best. The lag is atrocious. The maps are a similar layout to MW2 (In fact its just like a $60 map-pack) And..worst of all....Activisions laziness is evident in everything from the fonts to the trademark chickens they have clucking around the place. I'd say they didn't have to do a tap of work on this product 'coz its all the same!!!

Then there's the positive reviews...they elude me completely!!! I have no clue how a trusted reviewer could recommend you spend your hard-earned-cash on something so substandard. This leads me to the conclusion that brown envelopes must be involved.

Then you have Glen Schoefield BEGGING...that's right...BEGGING (google it) players to give it a good review on metacritic...and that just annoys me so much more!!! Begging us to make them more money when it clearly is...NOT...DESERVED.

On an finishing note...I honestly hope the world learns from this disgrace. And going by user reviews the world over.....it looks like the COD fanbase is already falling apart. Enjoy my $60, Activision. I hope you buy yourself something nice.

My score: 2/10 (and that's just because I was feeling generous)

Multiplayer experience of Modern Warfare 3
SpartacusBadBoy9 November 2011
If you are sick of MW2 (Modern Warfare), then don't buy MW3, its not the game for you. There are new maps (there are some nice maps but the rest are avg), new guns (smg seems to be the popular gun) and new game modes ( kill confirm is like a blitz of people running around like headless chickens) and a new kill streak system (improvement) but not much innovation in terms of graphics, single player campaign (4 hours game time to complete) and game play is more or less the same. The developers of the game have stuck with the same formula that made mw1 and 2 so popular but they have refined and made certain tweaks to the Multiplayer arena that fan boys will love. As for me I didn't buy this game (I played on a friend's PC) as i knew what to expect already from all the you-tube vids out there. I was already disappointed with Black Ops so i decided to put a hold on getting mw3. Will get this game on Steam when there is a sale but for fans who have played more than 800 hours on mw2 and still want more, then mw3 is the game for you.
