Man Eating Super Snake (2011)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

This documentary originally aired on The Animal Planet station and tells why Florida might come under attack by the African Rock Python. Various experts talk about how the giant snake, reaching upwards of 20-feet, ended up in Florida and why they're so dangerous and especially if they begin to mate with another dangerous python that lives in Florida. Through interviews and well as dramatized footage, we hear about some deadly stories that have already happened and we're warned that much worse could happen as the snakes begin to get used to their surroundings and venturing farther north. I will admit right up front that even the smallest snake sends shivers up my spine so watching a documentary on these giant snakes certainly had me creeped out. The documentary did a pretty good job at explaining how the snakes got to Florida, why so many are being spotted and especially why they're so dangerous. Some of the dramatizations were especially hard to watch including one where a young girl was eaten by one and no remains of him were ever found again. Of course, this is one of those TV specials that are created to scare people as the worse case scenarios are always talked about and narrator Zach McGowan constantly has his "deep, scary" voice working.

Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this, and as soon as the first so-called victim, a young man was found inside the snake, I quit. FIRST of all, they said they found one of his boots. OK, then how did the body have both boots on. Second and most important....constrictors swallow from the head down, NOT the feet up, as the shoulders would make the arms or front legs of the prey go out to where the animal (or person) could NOT be swallowed, not to mention how did the snake get BOTH legs down together!! What a bunch of crap, and please do not believe this staged low-budget farce!
