Marc Juris is stepping down as President and General Manager of We tv. He will leave the AMC network at the end of the year after seven years in the job. There is no immediate replacement.
“We first worked with Marc many years ago, when he was running original programming for an early version of AMC and then became the general manager who took the network from ad-free to ad-supported, a move that fueled much of the growth and distinction that was to follow,” said Josh Sapan, president and chief executive officer of AMC Networks. “His keen eye for brands and for compelling content have been demonstrated here and elsewhere. He’s recognized as a leader in our industry and for good reason. We wish him nothing but the best as he departs to find his next opportunity.”

A former "star" of TruTV's South Beach Tow is outing the show as scripted and fake. Imagine our surprise. Here we were, astonished at all the thrilling feats Bernice, the show's featured driver, has been through. In fact, we're still not sure we believe these claims. I mean, how do you script a woman falling several stories out of a parking garage, surviving, then getting up to smash a window and tow a car? You just can't make this kind of stuff up. Or how about that time Bernice was almost arrested by a fake cop, but she managed to break out of the cuffs and assault him? And then there's that time a man ran out of the shower to stop his car from being towed, wearing only a towel,...

A former senior producer at Jennifer Lopez‘s Nuyorican Productions is taking the company to court for breach of contract. In a five-claim complaint filed today in La Superior Court, Brian Schornak is alleging that he was removed from the company’s shows like The Fosters and South Beach Tow and eventually forced out. And Schornak is very specific about who is to blame for that: former manager and producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas who was brought on board Nuyoricann in March but is not a defendant in the lawsuit, however. The complaint (read it here) claims she accused him of stealing from Nuyorican and relentlessly tried to get rid of him. ”Elaine demoted Plaintiff and attempted to push Plaintiff out, or get him to quit,” the complaint claims. Schornak says he was “compelled” to resign from Nuyorican earlier this year. In addition to breach of contract, the complaints claims breach of...

So what else is new? J-Lo over the years has disposed of more Hollywood agencies than boyfriends including CAA, ICM, Endeavor, and William Morris – sometimes more than once. UTA helped start J-Lo in acting by putting her in Selena and Steven Soderbergh’s Out Of Sight. After leaving, she came back to UTA in 2008 to focus on restarting what was then her dormant acting career after she had twins. She is partnered on her production company Nuyorican with Simon Fields, while manager Benny Medina masterminded J-Lo’s comeback. The question now is, without the American Idol spotlight, will her career go dark again? UTA didn’t handle her 8-month world tour which prevented her from signing on to more movie/TV projects. But it did rep Lopez for The Back-Up Plan and What To Expect When You’re Expecting which both underperformed at the box office, and in Taylor Hackford...

Exclusive: Fox is expanding its relationship with American Idol star Jennifer Lopez to the scripted side. The network has bought a family dramedy project from Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta, which he is executive producing with Lopez. Sony Pictures TV, where Horta is under an overall deal, is producing the dramedy, which has landed a script commitment with penalty. The project, inspired by an idea of Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly, had been earmarked for Fox ever since Horta started developing it at Sony several months ago. It is about a Latino family and centers on three sisters and their interlinked lives. Horta will write the script and executive produce with Lopez and her producing partner at Nuyorican Prods Simon Fields. Lopez, who started in TV as a dancer on In Living Color and actress on several series, has stayed connected to the small screen as a producer and now as judge on Idol.
