We thoroughly enjoyed this film!

Finally a fresh script in Nollywood! The Wildflower was a beautiful breeze away from the typical comedy & romance scripts.

DELICIOUS

-The cast and acting were strong: Deyemi Okanlawon, Toyin Abraham, Damilare Kuku (who should act more because she's so good), Sandra Okunzua, Angel Unigwe, Kiki Omeili, & Zubby Michael

They genuinely illustrated an environment of abuse, male dominance, depression, and courage.

-The Wildflower was a story that needed to be told. The fact that they adapted it to today's era of social media, women empowerment, it made the screenplay very solid.

-The film was realistic and relevant: It combined the old school of thought with Toyin Abraham who rationalized domestic abuse and the new school of thought with Damilare, who opposed it. Plus, there were many great moments of surprise and atypical characters like the pastor and his wife who brought in another dimension

BLAND

-The smoke effect was very distracting as it was obviously misused. It made images look fuzzy rather than adding depth to the shots

-A movie like The Wildflower really craves for inspiring dialogues to highlight social injustice and reinforce women empowerment. But there was none, the lines were mostly plain, without a strong push to rise up and fight.

It would have made a bigger impact to see a progression in Rolake's personality, a moment of self-discovery, just to stress the need for women to be bold, firm, and crush all those societal prejudices

-The court scenes were a bit weak. The arguments and questions uttered by the lawyers were simple, it didn't display a fight for justice.

Very relevant movie!

This movie captures the hard circumstances that many women face in the corporate world. I love how it depicts the life of a mummy Ada and how her belief system is shaped by the environment she lived. Her story is one that is common to so many other women who wait too long to come out of a bad marriage.

Furthermore, the movie sheds light on the hope that we have as so many human rights activists and organizations are coming to the aid of vulnerable people and making sure that victims get justice. There is still much to be done, but a lot of progress has been made.

Thank you to the amazing cast!
