A children's opera written by Alan Garner and Gordon Crosse for performance by the Finchley Children's Music Group (and assorted musicians). A misanthropic old potter refuses to participate in the Bilberry Night, Lughnasa Day celebrations with the villagers. He goes for a walk instead and falls down into a set of caves, in which he first encounters the four elements earth, air, fire, water - and then almost wakes up the Sleeping Knights. In the course of this journeying, he makes peace with his past sorrow - he was the Bilberry King, and was in love with the Bilberry Queen, but she wouldn't (or couldn't) marry him because her family was rich. He eventually emerges back into the normal world, and joins in with the villagers at last.
