I'm really surprised that this movie can't even get a rating. I really enjoyed it, and I don't understand why it's so unpopular. Well OK, probably because it's a documentary and it's new. Anyway, I felt this movie deserved at least a summary.
This movie is a documentary about the very beginning of consumerism. It contains some really interesting info on why the consumerism even emerged and how the basic marketing schemes were invented, the same ones that are practiced worldwide nowadays. It reveals how consumerism has shaped the thinking of our society, deeper than I had thought. And it also tells the history of some well known department stores. It contains historical scenes together with reenactments and as in any reasonable documentary there are specialists talking. It's easy to watch, unlike some documentaries, and as I had already said it's generally a good and very interesting movie. And I think it could be interesting to pretty much everybody because it's about something relevant in all of our lives (and I don't mean shopping itself, but rather how it influences our thinking and culture).
