Out of place...

Warning: Spoilers
I loved this entire series and I don't think this episode was at ALL bad! It just felt so out of place with the overall theme of the show, especially with the two following episodes. Didn't mind first time through, thought it was stupid fun but after rewatching it, I was like... this episode misses most of the psychological horror, and actually goes for genuine horror. But the psychological horror is the best part of the whole series! This show has scarred me beyond repair lol. My favorite episode is the third one, despite how... unnerving it is. I hope this show gets picked up for a second season!

By far the best episode of the new series, what's with the low rating/mixed reviews?

Warning: Spoilers
Although I love the new dhmis series, I can't say that it's as good as the original series (which would be extremely hard to do, I wasn't expecting this to surpass it). Except for this one. "Friendship" doesn't contain many scary moments, but it is laugh out loud funny. I honestly love that the new series toned down the creepiness and tried to make it more of a comedy. It works, especially for this episode. My least favorite episode of the series was "Family," and that was the only episode that relied on horror rather than humor, which is why I think this show having less of a horror vibe is a good thing.

The intro already lets you know that this'll be a masterpiece, with Red Guy coming out of nowhere with one of his all time best quotes: "We live in an actual nightmaaare!" Speaking of quotes, this episode is so quotable that it'd be impossible to list off all the funny moments. So instead I'll just get this out of the way and list the best quotes.

Yellow guy (talking about his name): "don't forget the hyphen!"

Duck guy: "He reminds me of an infection I had up my anus!"

First tooth: "May I have permission to smile at you?"

Shy imaginary older brother: "And I think you could probably meet the royal family of another planet, and get a photo with them. Oh... why did I say that?"

On to the actual episode itself. It's computer day! But the main trio can't log on because yellow guy forgot the password. Red guy guesses yellow's name and duck's name as the password, which leads to 2 great gags, made even funnier due to the juxtaposition of the names' length.

Red guy and Duck guy insult yellow guy for forgetting the password, which leads to the introduction of possibly the best "teacher" in the show: Warren the Wor- Eagle! This pathetic hypocrite starts off as a decent teacher when he talks about how badly RG and DG treated YG, but as the episode continues he gets more and more annoying and egocentric. But that's what I love about him.

After Warren shows the main trio his backstory, this leads to arguably the funniest moment in the entire episode. Everyone, even Colin, starts roasting the living hell out of Warren. The jokes come at lightning speed, every insult funnier than the last. When I watched this part for the first time I couldn't breathe.

Before Warren is able to defend himself from the barrage of insults, Yellow Guy remembers the password: Rat eyes, his... maiden name? I'm not gonna question that. So they get online, leading to one of the greatest scenes in ALL of dhmis. I honestly wish the main trio dancing could've been longer than just 20 seconds, I would pay to watch them dance more.

They check their emails, but Yellow guy's inbox is empty. So he gets depressed and disassociates from the real world by living in his imagination with his brain friends. Red guy convinces Warren to go into Yellow Guy's ear to save him by offering to eat with him at a restaurant. But after the brain friends compliment Warren, he decides to stay and hang out with them, surprising absolutely no one.

However, things get awkward real fast when Warren tries to replace Yumpferdinker's song with his podcast. This scene is so cringe-worthy but hilarious at the same time. Warren is such a killjoy that even his imaginary friends can't stand him. Eventually, all the brain friends get sick of him so they abandon Yellow guy and leave. Except for Shy imaginary older brother, who has some great "bonding time" with Warren about his podcast. Yep, he loved the podcast so much that he decided to end his life.

Meanwhile, Red Guy and Duck guy answer questions on this surreal website, and they get Yellow Guy's diagnosis: he has a worm in his brain! Yellow Guy sinks into another depression, leading him to go inside his brain's brain. But he still can't escape Warren. Thankfully, Duck Guy is able to save him by sticking a needle in Yellow Guy's ear and piercing Warren. Hooray! So I guess the villain was the worm in yellow guy's brain all along.

The trio all make up, and Colin is so touched by their friendship that he gives them a computer that they can use 24/7. It all seems like a happy ending, until Yellow Guy breaks the computer. This leads to the best ending of any dhmis episode, where the 3 of them starts fighting each other to the death. Unfortunately, we don't get to see much, we can only hear the sounds of them screaming and fighting while the credits roll. This was absolutely brilliant, and without a doubt a 10/10 episode.

Another decent episode, of course...

Warning: Spoilers
I was wrong, Family is not the most disliked episode, it has some mixed opinions but most people like it. This is the most disliked episode. People say it's out of place or stuff like that, but this is my opinion:

Goods: -It's fun, more than funny this episode is fun.

-It has some funny jokes, definitively not as funny as episode 2 but still funny.

-Good message.

-Decently written.

-More Yellow Guy-centered.

-Warren the Eagle is a jerk, but he's so stupid that he's funny.

Mids: -The song at the end is meh.

-I like the joke when they're trying to guess the password and they use their names, and Yellow Guy's name is super long, but at the same time that scene makes zero sense 😅

Bads: -The ending, I agree it's terrible. It's not out-of-character but it's even more unsatisfying than the ending of the first episode. It would've been better if Yellow Guy broke the sphere and then Red Guy and Duck act the same way they did at the beginning of the episode, and Yellow Guy gets depressed. And for the credits they use Jumperdinker singing for the credits, that would be more fitting imo. (I think people actually like this ending... WHY!?).

Also I don't care about this episode being a bit out of place, it fits in the series imo, even if it doesn't have many horror scenes.

Overall neutral decent and the second best episode so far.

This was the hardest one to rank btw, not hard at all and I think I'm pretty sure this episode is neutral decent and second best, but in this case I could actually change of opinion watching it, most likely to better.

Below average

Warning: Spoilers
Not particularly compelling or anything like most of the other episodes, just kind of a drag.

Stylistically many of the brain segments are just kind of a headache, sort of clashes with the aesthetic that made the series so compelling in the first place.

The humor is the best part of this one. The worm is really damn annoying and at least they make jokes out of it. Ending where Warren gets impaled through the head is just kind of disturbing, and the end doesn't really make sense. Also the song at the end is cringe, sorry.

Not awful but definitely below average, most of this season is pretty good.
