Inspiring film!

Lovely tale and fitting tribute to a great writer. Well acted and directed. Showed how Vonnegut was always willing to share and inspire, especially with the younger generation.

The music was fun and the montage towards the end was great and had a couple unexpected twists.

Also captured the look and feel of NYC and the camaraderie of a high school classroom. Took me back to my high school days. And he actor playing Vonnegut was so well cast! I'm sure Vonnegut would have been impressed and would have approved.

Would recommend this film to both Vonnegut fans and non-fans alike. Anyone that needs a bit of inspiration would love this.

Wonderful film that does what the title says

A great and inspiring short, based off a true story - the wonderful pacing and cutting all merge together to do just what the title says: "make your soul grow" if even just a little.

Great performance by the kids in the piece and well shot and directed - an extremely well made piece that is absolutely worth your time if you can get your hands on a copy/a screening near you. Gives you a newfound drive for all those things that add memories to your collection - thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyable without a doubt and worth the runtime for anyone and everyone. The voiceover is immaculate also and well worked in with the visuals.

Beautiful film

A quirky and happy tale about a wonderfully generous artist. Its even more influential as its based on a real story. I enjoyed this sweet and sentimental film.

The acting is on point and I thought the school kids were wonderfully professional. Great performance all around.

I love the aspect of day to day for Vonnegut. Takes me back to a time where you just wonder NYC and it's shot stunningly. The cinematography hit the spot there for showing us a happy and everyday city.

All in all this is a great start from upcoming director K. C Connolly. I hope he has something in the can and Im looking forward to the next one!!!

Lackluster

"Make Your Soul Grow" is not the most profound work by Kurt Vonnegut, but it is a phrase that he used to describe the purpose of art and literature. According to Vonnegut, the purpose of art and literature is to help individuals understand and make sense of the world around them, and to help them grow as people. He believed that by reading and engaging with literature, individuals could gain a greater understanding of themselves and others, and ultimately lead more fulfilling lives. Many critics and readers alike have found Vonnegut's writing to be thought-provoking and soul-stirring, and his unique blend of satire, science fiction, and social commentary has made him a beloved and enduring figure in American literature.

The film is a tedious and forgettable experience, lacking any real entertainment value. It's clear that the filmmakers put no effort into making a quality product, and it shows in the final result. I would not recommend this movie to anyone.

Heartwarming short with a powerful message.

Warning: Spoilers
This short film pays homage to the late, great Kurt Vonnegut. A beautifully shot short film with excellent an excellent script. "Make Your Soul Grow" is one of those thoughtful movies that resonates on many levels. Set in NYC, in a fast paced, highly-competitive and frantic world of work, the story of Kurt Vonnegut inspires introspection and reflection within ourselves. Reminding us to draw on our creative talents and encourages one do what makes us truly happy. Creating what our most authentic self can, without fear of judgement. This movie perfectly portrays Vonnegut's lifetime-of-experience and wisdom in his advice to create "art" in whatever form, just for fun... just to make your soul grow.

stays with you

Reading some of the reviews surprised me. This tender little film stayed with me for months after watching it. For that. Its a winner for me.

I thought it was well thought out, directed well. The writing was what it was, taking an already existing message to a new audience. I felt it was done with sensitivity and grace. The writer did his homework.

I see some comments in reviews it wasn't entertaining. It depends what your looking for in your entertainment. If you want explosions or thoughtless drama. Forget this flick. But if you want something to think about. Something for your spirit to chew on. Give it a go.

Also the director looks like Jim Carrey.

And he's Irish and so am I.

So its an auto max points.

10/10.
