This short is awesome. The shots are gorgeous, and its refreshing to see a young director embrace traditional film techniques, rather than opting for digital sleekness. The use of light is masterful and hearkens back to traditions of the golden age of cinema. The choice to film in black and white is a bold one, especially in the current climate of over-saturated color and accessible post-production editing techniques that that scream "Look at me! I'm loud and I'm Edgy." What's great about "Here" is that it communicates so much through subtlety and nuance. A lot of powerful emotions and resonant reflection are conveyed in 4 short minutes. The music is great music too.
