Slow but steady

While this episode moves a little slower, it doesn't cover 10 years of his life like the first episode. I am learning a lot about Reeves than I never knew, like the fact that he lived on a reservation after he fled slavery and learned Creek Indian. That second part comes into play in this episode as he has to go after his first wanted man. You get to meet his mentor and see what kind of a man Reeves really is. A man of conviction and strong beliefs especially that of justice. Obviously all of this came from his background and what his life experience was like but rather than become a bitter man he tries to become a better man. This is a great struggle for him, and for any man, but it shows you the conviction and goodness of his heart.

I'm not a person who likes to read subtitles, because I'm dyslexic and I can't beat that fast, but the addition of the Creek Indian discussion with the subtitles was paste well enough that it was easy to follow and I didn't have to pause the video. But inevitably it lends some realism to the show.

I fully appreciate them speaking Crow but for heavens sake put subtitles on it.

I have watched sections of this show, which should be brilliant but then have to sit and watch whole sections where we have zero idea of what is going on.

In episode 1 there were subtitles but not in episode 2.

Disappointed.

The rest of it is great and looks to be developing well.

It's a slower pace than I'm used to but actually that's quite refreshing.

If you've watched 1883 then this is a similar vein.

It would have a 9 rating if we could understand it all. Come on Paramount get it right, it would be better if we understood the whole story.

Warning: Spoilers
Dennis Quaid is someone who just seems born to play a bad guy in a Western show so that casting made sense, but the plot here still felt a little bit boring. They have the nice scenery and the dialogue down, but it just kind of drags and drags. I feel like Taylor Sheridan has gotten a little bit too comfortable with all of the shows he has under his banner and all of the Westerns and doesn't think he has to try anymore.

There were some good moments here, it was definitely better than the premiere, but I am hoping we get just a little bit more action and a hint of originality as the season progresses.
