A much needed first for the Romanian cinema stage

For Romanian cinema, this is a more than welcome premiere, enjoyable through its simple, youthful and sensitive insight.

The debut of quite talented director Ana Maria Comanescu and two young actors - Vladimir Teca and Angelina Pavel - enhances the playful, romantic and sometimes humourous nature of the film.

This is a well-known theme, that of the coming of age. Based on a simple script, the fresh and deep atmosphere of the film support the adventure that follows. I won't spoil it - just say it involves an old motorcycle, a boy and a girl, and some beautiful landscapes.

Both young actors are quite charismatic and know how to pace their rhythm throughout the film. The supporting characters are spot on and make their point in a very subtle way.

Do see this film, for its earnest and subtle look on youth and life. It's good for the soul.

Why should you avoid this film?

"Horia" is a film that follows the journey of a high school student named Horia as he sets out on a wild adventure to prove his maturity. With his trusty old motorbike, Horia embarks on a reckless road trip that leads to a series of hilariously absurd situations.

As Horia navigates through the challenges of his misadventures, the film offers insights into the complexities of growing up and finding one's place in the world. Along the way, Horia encounters a colorful array of characters who shape his understanding of life and adulthood.

The biggest red flag I'd find is that the movie tries in some part to bring paganistic ideas in a world where people doesn't understand Christianity anymore, being assulted with postmodernistic ideas that make everything see relative, which some can find dissapointing for a cinema movie.

Overall the movie has some moments when can mantain your attention, but it's not something you'll remember for long or wanna see again.
