Drag out your gold pan!

With lots of twists and turns and a healthy dose of misdirection this episode really delivers. Throw in Roy Billing and a guest appearance by Tami Neilson herself and you have a must see episode!

Cheest but passable

Typical of whodunits that take place in small towns. Like others of its ilk, the denizens of Brokenwood are always present and usually involved with the victims or suspects on the cases. A lot of the people appear to be very entitled and outright decline to be interviewed by the CIB, which would most likely result in being arrested here in the States. The one thing that strikes me odd is how the cops always have professional headshots available of the suspects and the victims.

All the gold that glitters and line dancing too!

Warning: Spoilers
What an absolute brilliant episode, in fact all of this season have had some amazing mystery episodes. This has everything.

What starts out as a family feud scenario. One of the feuders being the fantastic Roy Billing (who I never realised was born in New Zealand as he's worked so constantly in Australia) It heads in many different directions like Brokenwood usually does of course, and most other great murder mystery whodunnits. A lot of different suspects including the feuding families, there's a gold nugget that may or may not exist, a pregnancy or two, a jilted bride and more! Now spoiler alert coming up... Could Frodo be a father?

Even though there's some predictability in it like a Romeo and Juliet scenario and ultimately I reckon a lot might work out who the murderer turns out to be. (But on a nice note it doesn't turn out to be pre meditated) It's still a great ride to go on, line dancing all the way, to the real live band whose songs often feature in the series.
