We have some new photos from Open Road Films' Max Steel for you to check out today thanks to Collider. I have to say I've been impressed with what I've seen from this movie. This is one of the films that could have easily ended up looking terrible, but these images show off something that could prove to be really cool.
The movie is based on the Mattel action figure and animated series on Disney Xd. Director Stewart Hendler wrapped production last month in Wilmington, North Carolina, and we should be getting our first trailer soon, as the movie has a panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
The movie stars Ben Winchell (Disney’s A.N.T. Farm, Necessary Roughness), and apparently he trained for 6 to 8 hours a day studying parkour, martial arts, boxing, and fencing to prepare for the role.
The feature also stars Ana Villafañe (Hiding) as Sofia Martinez, Maria Bello...

Remember when that “Twilight” kid with the abs was supposed to star in a “Max Steel” movie? Well, that was a while ago. Whatever happened that “Twilight” kid with the abs, anyway? “One Night Stand”
Written By: Sean Calder
Directed By: Steven Depaul
Original Airdate: 15 November 2013
In This Episode...
Two couples are hanging out around a bonfire on the beach. They are singing, laughing, drinking... typical twentysomething stuff. One couple, Dan and Anna, go for a swim. Sarah goes for more beer for her and Jake. Hiding behind the foliage, spying, is youngest sister Ellie, a deaf girl with a huge crush on Jake. She begs Sarah, “not that one,” Sarah dismisses her, marches back to the beach, jumps in the water, disrobes, and lures Jake out for a little aquatic sexytime. He is all too eager to join her. But things take a nasty turn when scaly, fishy hands (yes, hands) grabs the boys and drag them under. Sarah and Anna swim away, but Ellie can’t let this happen to Jake. She save him, and as he starts to wake,...

Casting a pretty face in place of an actual actress poses a number of problems in a character-driven narrative, and in Hiding it just about brings the film to its knees. An already weak story about a girl trying to start a new life in a witness protection program finds no support in its casting or direction and consequently the problems snowball with each passing line of dialogue. What unfolds on screen amounts to a bad student film with relatively promising production values, and that only makes it more frustrating; if Director Thomas J. Wright took the time to make his film look good, why not invest more in a cast and a script that ruin the film before it’s even begun? Excessive empty dialogue delivered by people who sound like they’re reading it right off the page is enough to drive even the most sympathetic viewer away.
