I’ve been a fan of Top Chef for years, and this season has me particularly hooked. I like the New Orleans setting, the accompanying season of Last Chance Kitchen has been stellar, and I’ve found a few of the challenges to be some of the best the show has ever done, mostly because they manage to be surprising despite the show being in its eleventh season. But the biggest surprise to me about this season of Top Chef has nothing to do with the content of the show; it’s the sheer fact that I’m watching it.

Chicago – The great Anthony Bourdain, who entertained viewers for seasons with his foodie adventures around the world on “No Reservations,” has altered his recipe a bit for The Travel Channel’s “The Layover with Anthony Bourdain,” which returns tonight for a second season premiere which finds the chef/personality spending 43 hours in our favorite city in the world, Chicago. The focused approach of “No Reservations” has been discarded for a quantity game in which Bourdain visits dozens of hot spots in the Windy City, speaks to locals about why Chicago rules, and gives viewers an overall feel for the town instead of specifics about it. I wish the show was a little less manic and that Bourdain would spend more than a minute or two at each location but he and his production team made some fantastic choices in terms of where to visit, creating a love letter to hot dogs,...

Anthony Bourdain is no longer associated with the Travel Channel -- give or take a few more episodes of "The Layover" -- and he went out in a blaze of glory.
You may have seen the chef-author-tv host's bridge-burning screed against his former bosses on his Tumblr. That followed a series of, uh, colorful tweets over the cable channel's use of "No Reservations" footage in a Cadillac ad that Bourdain says was done without his knowledge, and definitely without his consent.
It's probably safe to assume such awkward attempts at product placement probably won't show up in his CNN series, which now has a name: "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown." It's set to premiere in the spring.
CNN has also released a teaser for the show, ahead of Bourdain appearing on "Piers Morgan Tonight" Tuesday (Nov. 13). Take a look:
Will you follow Bourdain to CNN? What do you think of his Travel Channel rant?...

Chef-turned-author-turned-tv personality Anthony Bourdain is about to start production on his new 2013 series on CNN, the title of which -- "Parts Unknown" -- was just announced by the news network. His long-running Travel Channel international food show "No Reservations" came to an end last week with an episode set in his hometown of New York, though he has another show, "The Layover," set to kick off a new season on the network on November 19th. This hasn't stopped the never shy Bourdain from venting some serious anger at the Travel Channel for the way they cut the last two episodes of "No Reservations" to make it appear that he was driving in (and tacitly endorsing as a product) a new Cadillac. In a long post on Tumblr, Bourdain explains his two brushes with product placement, and notes that he's preferred to stay away from it because he likes to make...

Last night at the New York City Wine and Food Festival, celebrity chef and globe-trotting bad boy Anthony Bourdain got roasted. And no, it didn’t involve an open flame and a spit — it was a comedy roast, in which his friends and peers swapped jokes at his expense for charity. Guests included other celebrity chefs — Rachael Ray, Guy Fieri — as well as comedians and television personalities, like The Today Show’s Willie Geist.

Chef and TV host Anthony Bourdain returned to Chicago this week to film an upcoming episode of his Travel Channel series "The Layover."
Some three years since the "No Reservations" host shined a light on the Second City's culinary scene, Bourdain has selected a fresh crop of eateries and watering holes, including some foodie-approved, high-buzz spots for an episode set to air later this year.
One spot missing from the mix is Budacki's Drive In. As Eater Chicago reports, Bourdain was not impressed when the walk-up stand invited diners to participate in the filming while enjoying $1 hot dogs and the production cancelled the shoot.
Scroll down to check out some of the spots that managed to make Bourdain's hot list. Do you approve of his picks?...

One thing I can say for Vertigo Comics is they never fail to surprise me with their diverse books. One month they'll do a sci-fi graphic novel about the dangers of technology and a few months later I receive another one so far in the outfield it leaves me wondering how writers come up with the material. That's how I felt while reading their latest offering, Get Jiro!
The book revolves around a sushi chef named Jiro. In the not too distant future, two crime lords rule L.A. with an iron fist. Instead of controlling the streets using drugs and weapons, these gangs rule with culinary skills. The world is so obsessed with food that people literally kill for a seat at the best restaurants in town. Jiro has certain skills both groups want to make their own. As they battle over the chef, he must find a way...

Remember back in August when San Francisco followed Anthony Bourdain around town while he filmed "The Layover," documenting his every move? Well, the episode is finally here.
On Monday, the Travel Channel will air "The Layover, San Francisco," and though the local media certainly took the fun out of discovering where Bourdain would go, we're excited to see what he did when he got there.
(Scroll Down For Video)
It was no secret that Bourdain had a good time at the Tonga Room, especially when Twitter showed pictures of the crew swimming in the decorative pool with Fairmont robes. Fortunately, we've obtained a clip displaying how the night got there. The Lava Bowl, Bora Bora Horror, Zombie and Singapore Sling may have had something to do with it.
Bourdain shared drinks with his old buddy, San Francisco Chef Chris Cosentino (nice t-shirt, Chris), and elevated the beloved Tonga Room to the stuff of epic poetry.
