Original and unexpected
BigHarvey16 April 2021
Apparently, these films were compiled from a web series? I thought the concept of an intelligent fungal colony very original and I enjoyed the evolving repercussions for its heroine. I never really knew where these stories were taking me and that was quite refreshing. I'd love to see the fourth film to learn what becomes of Alice and her family.

Amazing Production Quality - Ready for Prime Time

Malice is an original and innovative series with great direction, beautiful photography, stellar performances, amazing special effects, and great sound design that draws you in and holds your attention from the on-set. Malice is about the Turner Family and their supernatural adventures in an old Virginia house. Nate Turner, (Mark Hyde) is a Navy SEAL who has just returned from a combat tour in Afghanistan to reunite with his recovering alcoholic wife Jesse (Leanna Chamish) and his two daughters Abbey, age 17 (Rebekkah Johnson), and sixteen year old Alice (Brittany Martz). The family inherits the house where mom grew up after Jesse's mother passes away and they all decide to relocate hoping that a change of venue with a new community and school will salvage their troubled lives. The action starts on the very first day after they arrive as strange and mysterious happenings start to manifest around them from the very foundations of the house. Ghostly figures peer through the windows, the plumbing goes haywire, strange foreboding writings and warnings appear on the walls, and then Mom wanders off in the night and vanishes. A few days later Dad and older sister Abbey also go missing and then it falls on the shoulders of Alice, with the help of a mysterious stranger, Jed Spry (Matthew James Gulbranson), to solve the mystery of what happened and why. I thoroughly enjoyed Malice and I can't wait for the upcoming sequel 'Metamorphosis!'

very different, in a good way

I watched this as a three part mini series and I've got to say I loved it. Yes it does get a little cheesy at times, but so what? It's still unique and good. Something I noticed on the second viewing was there's a rabbit somewhere in just about every scene. Sometimes in the foreground, sometimes not. Alice wears a rabbit t-shirt, Abby wears rabbit slippers, rabbit bookends in the background, etc. It's fun just trying to find them all. I'm not giving away any plot twists, just one small tie to "Alice in Wonderland." This is a fun and spooky show.

Modern day Alice in Wonderland re-staging

Warning: Spoilers
I watched the feature-length presentation of MALICE and hadn't realised it started out as a web series, although that explains all the stopping and starting. This is a cheap indie fantasy indebted to Alice in Wonderland but updated to modern society. The youthful protagonist discovers a bizarre fantasy world and the story goes from there. It's largely concerned with the depiction of a humdrum teenage existence with the usual angst and unlikeable characters. Then there's an occasional foray into a cheap and cheesy CGI landscape with terrible effects. It's different, sure, but not necessarily in a good way.
