Character backstory development continues
peterfmodel15 September 2019
As with the previous episode we continue with the character backstory development, in this case it's Suzuha. If you are watching this for the first time this episode will be entertaining, but if watching this for a 2nd time it can be a bit boring. It is possible to develop a backstory and ensure the episode itself is riveting enough to watch more than once, as occurred in the first four episodes, but it is hard and few tv-series manage to achieve this. I suspect the reason why some viewers are so disappointed with these, slower, episodes is it is such a contrast with the compelling viewing of the earlier episodes. Compared with a standard US real life episodes of a typical TV-Show this episode of Steins gate would be considered as excellent, but compared with Steins Gate as a whole they are slow. As with the last episode, if you have not seen this before you will enjoy it, otherwise you may be tempted to fast forward through parts of it.

Mysterious text message

The mysterious text message is an excellent addition. It is very mysterious and I wonder what will happen in later episodes because of this. Plus the part with part-time worker's dad is kind of sad, along with Okame's "inclined senses" (I guess you could say) to text messages and time travel is exciting.
